While I understand that large parties can put additional pressure on a kitchen, that really shouldn't come at the expense of other customers who were seated and ordered before or around the same time. If the restaurant isn't able to accommodate a large party while maintaining reasonable service for other guests, there should be better planning and communication. What made it even more frustrating was watching other tables around us receive their food before we did. When I questioned the delay, the response was essentially that "some food takes longer than others." I understand that certain dishes may take more time to prepare, but waiting over an hour without any proactive communication or explanation was disappointing. This was my first visit, and unfortunately, the experience left a poor impression. I really wanted to enjoy the restaurant and give it a fair chance, but based on the service we received, I highly doubt we'll be returning. I hope management takes this feedback seriously because customers shouldn't have to repeatedly ask about their food after waiting that long.

A recent FB question about who has the best fried mushrooms sparked a quest for me…read more Was it blind Tiger? Gibbons? Fumbles? The answers were varied. Turns out Gibbons doesn't even have them. Tigers was using very large mushrooms with caps that had opened. Better suited for sliced / sautéed. They were okay but I definitely enjoyed Fumbles more. The historic building is old and rundown. The old pool table was gone as well as the video poker room. The cubby with the autograph pictures and pay phone is just a dump station for lazy (or busy) staff. T-shirts available in a rainbow of colors. $17-$19 Restroom was okay.

She confirmed that they do, and they offer both regular and low-sodium versions. I went with the low-sodium seasoning and decided to grab a few things to eat while I was there. I picked up two alligator bites, and they were phenomenal. Then I tried two Pepper Jack Boudin Balls, and those were even better. I could honestly eat those at any time of day and be completely happy with life. What really surprised me was how fresh everything tasted. Since some of the food was under the heat lamp, you might expect it to be a little dry, especially the alligator bites, but it was the complete opposite. The outside was crispy, the inside was hot, fresh, and flavorful, and everything had just the right amount of spice. It honestly tasted like it had been made shortly before I walked in. I also grabbed a smoked chicken wing because another customer told me they were really good. He was absolutely right. He was also picking up what looked like an entire platter of Boudin Balls, enough for a football party or family gathering, and mentioned that he comes here all the time. That definitely made me feel like I had stopped at the right place. The customer service was excellent as well and the ambiance is refreshing. I wasn't sure where the Cajun seasoning was, and instead of simply pointing me toward the back corner, one of the ladies actually walked around the counter, grabbed it for me, and asked whether I wanted regular or low sodium. It was a small gesture, but that kind of service really stands out. I also picked up a 9-pack of smoked chicken bites to try something different. Being a truck driver, you are often limited to gas station and truck stop food, and I get tired of that pretty quickly. Being able to stop somewhere like this and grab real Cajun food and smoked meats was a huge plus. I will definitely be back to spend some more of my hard-earned cash here.
