Steve and his team always do a thorough job. Took my jeep in after my snowtires were put on and the car SHUDDER when I was driving. I was told by another auto place that my tires were "chopped" (aka warped) from bad shocks. NOT TRUE. the other place that had but on my tires did a POOR job balancing the tires. And, my five year old tires did not need to be replaced as per another Tire Place. Steve told me there was plenty of tread. AMAZING experience!!! Professional, efficient, more than fair pricing and so helpful!!! Red battery light went on an hour and a half from home. RTE 1 Auto Service was the closest auto service center. How lucky that they were the closest... such a positive experience! They took great care of me. Alternator and battery needed replacement and our serpentine belt was worn (Jeep Wrangler has 240,000 miles) and they said they would replace it and not charge labor. Steve did a great job on keeping me informed and repairing the car. Although they were super busy, they fit me in and It took less than 2 hours from start to finish, including getting necessary parts. Linda and Chris were also so friendly and helpful! A very no-nonsense, honest and knowledgeable repair shop. Larry and his staff will actually take the time to explain what's wrong with your car and walk you into the service area to show you what the problem is. From there, he will give you options for the repair, explaining the advantages and disadvantages of each option. Price isn't that bad either. We had a problem with the air conditioner in 2021 and the repair was about 400 dollars cheaper than the quoted estimate. What mechanic does that? Other problems we had fixed here were about the same or less than what the dealership quoted us. I won't get my oil changed anywhere else. They also offer a AAA member discount. Note: They don't have a courtesy shuttle so if your car must stay overnight or all day, you have to make arrangements to find a ride home. read more

New ownership to this place is obviously trying to pay something off for a family business!!! Prices are outrageous!!! Take my word for it, they give you a price and two hours later it changed when picking up vehicle, after sitting there for 2 hours watching my truck just up on the lift not being touched, I decided to grab lunch with a buddy, came back 2 hours later and was told 4 hours of labor on my truck and also 2 mechanics for awhile, just to change a rear bearing, I was also told by one of the young son's that they went through alot to get old one off!!! They are over priced to begin with but we thought we a friend and after Larry insisted on giving us a break on the guardian install, he completely took it back and said his son told him he couldn't do it. I cannot recommend this place enough. As a chick with basically zero knowledge of anything automotive, I am always terrified when I need something fixed on my car because A. I know it is probably going to cost me an arm and a leg, and B. I am afraid of being taken advantage of and ripped off. Well I am no longer scared because I have found a mechanic with great prices who is trustworthy! My first experience with Rte 1 Auto Service was when i had a broken side view mirror, and failed my inspection. I called the dealership about a replacement part, and they quoted me over $300! I was then referred to Rte 1 Auto by a family member. I called them, and I was given a quote of less than half than what the dealership gave me. Then when it came time to have my breaks fixed, he gave me the best quote after calling a few different places. I will probably never go to another mechanic again. had new breaks done here recently and they started to squeak very loudly within a month on an almost daily basis. this shop definitely charges A LOT for labor compared to other local shops. unfortunately the owner seems like a giant narcissist and is not willing to take any constructive criticism on his yelp page into consideration, he instead deflects the criticism and tries to counter-argue the reviewer in a personal way, often including personal information that should not be on here. i suggest that if you want to start having a better business you take your customers concerns and criticisms more seriously. read more

I just finished having this company service the Gaurdian Interlock System for the last two years. I would never ever recommend "Larry" ever to do business with. He charged extra money to install the device when a set fee was advertised. He has signs all over the shop telling you his rules and how he is not responsible etc. Obnoxious to say the least. His expertise is total BS on what will set off the device and his self righteiousness is beyond belief. Additionally never ever sign up for Gaurdian! With an educated closer look (ie: search on the web) you'll find out no one is certified nor educated in the positions they hold !! Please be careful, there are lots of HONEST REPUTABLE businesses on Rt. 1, & this isn't one of them !! I recently confronted him with proof positive I had been charged for services never received. Easy to find just south of 114 on Route 1 (southbound). My Subaru needed a LOT of work, and the dealership basically told me it wasn't worth fixing it, and to trade it in for a new car. I didn't want the payments, excise, insurance, etc...I found the place by accident, and I'll never take my car anywhere else. They have a computer setup for email reminders for scheduled maintenance, which I really appreciate. My car is running like new, and I don't have the associated costs of a new vehicle. I couldn't be happier! I highly recommend this auto service to anyone looking for complete auto service. My car needed a LOT of work (it was in there for a week); they got me a discounted rental car from Thrifty. As you can tell, I can't rate them high enough! read more

I have been doing business with these guys since they were on Lowell Street at the Shell Station. These guys are always up to date on the newest technology, service bulletins, and failure trends on common makes and models. This can save you a TON OF TIME AND MONEY, as well as aggravation in the long run if you have local corner shops and chain stores trying to fix your car. This training and experience doesn't come cheap up front on your bill, which is no different than the stereotypical costs of dealing with the car dealerships. The difference is these guys have a clue and will take the time to tell you what broke, why it broke, what needs to be done, and if it is something that can be prevented. The dealerships just tell you how much and ask yes or no. Then it's a roll of the dice if it's actually fixed half the time! Not just blowing smoke here. Just finished getting screwed by larry and his mechanic scott, brought my wifes car in leaking antifreeze. told them where it was leaking and that the heat would get hot for about a minute then would cool down then get hot again. Also told them anything over $400.00 to call first. Well I got the call alright ,your car is done we flushed and tested the system and put on a $120.00 hose the bill is $560.00, Ok fine I go and pay the bill then pick up the car after they close, now theres no leak but also NO heat at all. Went back the next morning to ask some ???s like ok if I have intermittent heat and a leak and you fix the leak how do I now have NO heat, to which scott replied yelling that I didn't know what I was talking about and I could leave it and spend more money or screw, thanks for your $500.00, Also never getting to ask but I believe he double charged me. You be the judge, Water outlet housing, temp sensor, gaskets, clips and heater hose ,coolant kit and three gallons of antifreeze $296.74 Also Water outlet connector, coolant temp. sensor, housing, heater hose ,drain and power flush cooling system fill with anti freeze $248.75 and to think someone recommended I go here Great experience for a first time customer.
