As a new customer I was grateful to be scheduled immediately. I was able to early bird my car and leave the key in their strongbox. Within hours I was notified by the tech Steve who diagnosed my problem and gave me options and prices. We agreed on the job and by noon the manager Mark called me and said I was all set. When I arrived I noticed how busy they were , no surprise... that's what happens when you do a good job... They come back (in the good way:)) and so will I . If you're out there looking for a good place with good mechanics and good value, contact Rte 1 Auto Service ! read more

Sergio is one of those rare second generation legacies who cares as deeply about his business as his father did. He went above and beyond to make sure my car was fixed to factory standards, replacing the entire right side of the car (I had deep scratches from a parking garage), including three layers of specialty paint and polish and coordinating the installation of a roof rack and a bike rack form a third party vendor. This is your guy, I can't recommend him highly enough. read more

Amazing shop! They helped me fix my car within 2 weeks despite the blizzard. It is great!!! Had contact with a rental place nearby and I got my rental seamlessly. Gave me a first time customer discount and had my car detailed after fixing it. Great shop! They also stayed after hours when I walked in at close to their closing time. They stayed until 6 with me. Very good shop! read more

Top notch shop! great people and great service. Its refreshing when visiting this establishment, down to earth people and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend read more

I've brought four different cars here over the years, and every single visit has been a great experience. The shop can be a little tough to get to without a car, but if you can make the trip, it's absolutely worth it. The team has always been fair, honest, and straightforward, and I've never once felt like I was being taken for a ride (no pun intended). They explain what's needed, don't push unnecessary work, and deliver solid results every time. Highly recommend! read more

ABSOLUTE FIVE-STAR AUTO BODY SHOP!!! Unreal work, flawless results, and customer service that goes ABOVE AND BEYOND. Communication was on point the whole time and my car looks brand new. If you need auto body work, THIS is the place. Can't recommend them enough!!! read more

I've been going to RTE 1 Auto Service for the past 4 years and could not recommend them enough to anyone in need of reliable and efficient auto repair services. The staff is always friendly, knowledgeable, and truly dedicated to providing top-quality service. My experience is seamless from start to finish, and I always leave feeling confident in the work that was done. Thank you, RTE 1 Auto Team, for your excellent service! read more

Steve and his team always do a thorough job. Took my jeep in after my snowtires were put on and the car SHUDDER when I was driving. I was told by another auto place that my tires were "chopped" (aka warped) from bad shocks. NOT TRUE. the other place that had but on my tires did a POOR job balancing the tires. And, my five year old tires did not need to be replaced as per another Tire Place. Steve told me there was plenty of tread. The team is always willing to show you what they've done and they don't try to sell you something you don't need. My husband and I are very satisfied and will return. I fully trust them. read more

Rte 1 Auto Body is perhaps the best auto service I have ever used. Friendly, courteous people, especially Linda, and reasonable prices make this company stand out. read more

I was directed here by a kind citizen when they noticed I had a flat. I don't think a tire has been patched faster in the history of tires. Everyone was so nice- thank you Linda and Steve! read more

I found Chris and his receptionist to be very helpful and caring. Had a bad experience with Car Shield and another repairer. They took my car in and fixed it as needed. runs great. They dealt with car shield. I ended up paying practically nothing. Would definitely use them again. read more

GREAT service. The guys were upfront about what work my car needed, explained everything they were doing, and made sure I was OK with pricing before proceeding. Very highly recommend! read more

AMAZING experience!!! Professional, efficient, more than fair pricing and so helpful!!! Red battery light went on an hour and a half from home. RTE 1 Auto Service was the closest auto service center. How lucky that they were the closest... such a positive experience! They took great care of me. Alternator and battery needed replacement and our serpentine belt was worn (Jeep Wrangler has 240,000 miles) and they said they would replace it and not charge labor. Steve did a great job on keeping me informed and repairing the car. Although they were super busy, they fit me in and It took less than 2 hours from start to finish, including getting necessary parts. Linda and Chris were also so friendly and helpful! Great waiting room! I HIGHLY recommend RTE 1 Auto Service!!! Couldn't be happier and feel very grateful to them for safely getting me back on the road!!! read more

I started bringing my car here about 2 years ago and the price, responsiveness, and quality of work are outstanding. My 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee has reached an age where it's needing repairs more frequently and I am more reliant on service to keep it running well, Rt 1 Auto is my go-to service provider now. If they offered state inspections, I'd only go to them for my auto needs. read more

A very no-nonsense, honest and knowledgeable repair shop. Larry and his staff will actually take the time to explain what's wrong with your car and walk you into the service area to show you what the problem is. From there, he will give you options for the repair, explaining the advantages and disadvantages of each option. Price isn't that bad either. We had a problem with the air conditioner in 2021 and the repair was about 400 dollars cheaper than the quoted estimate. What mechanic does that? Other problems we had fixed here were about the same or less than what the dealership quoted us. I won't get my oil changed anywhere else. They also offer a AAA member discount. Note: They don't have a courtesy shuttle so if your car must stay overnight or all day, you have to make arrangements to find a ride home. read more

I have been going to Route 1 Auto for a couple years .. They have always treated me fairly. I would not bring my car to anyone I did not trust . Linda in the front office is awesome . She goes above and beyond to help. Steve is excellent he always takes time to explain what needs to be done with my car. I have dealt with many mechanics in the past The team at Route 1 Auto is by far the best I've dealt with. If you are looking for a good fair, place to bring your car. I strongly recommend the team at Route 1 auto. read more

II brought my vehicle for a few issues and the work done was definitely worth the cost. I am happy to say that I have found a place I can trust and rely on for my car mechanical services. Such is the case that I recommended RTE.1 to my sister and she was very pleased with the work done on her vehicle. I hope they continue with their outstanding professionalism and work. read more

New ownership to this place is obviously trying to pay something off for a family business!!! Prices are outrageous!!! Take my word for it, they give you a price and two hours later it changed when picking up vehicle, after sitting there for 2 hours watching my truck just up on the lift not being touched, I decided to grab lunch with a buddy, came back 2 hours later and was told 4 hours of labor on my truck and also 2 mechanics for awhile, just to change a rear bearing, I was also told by one of the young son's that they went through alot to get old one off!!! That's why we take our vehicles to professional people with the right equipment!!! $950 later.... thought they did all 4 bearings!!! Goodluck People..... make sure you get a price first read more

They definitely take their money over maintaining valuable relationships. They are over priced to begin with but we thought we a friend and after Larry insisted on giving us a break on the guardian install, he completely took it back and said his son told him he couldn't do it. LIES!!! After that, having to still come in to have the system serviced he was completely silent and wouldn't even acknowledge us like we werent there. I would HIGHLY consider taking your business elsewhere!!!!!! read more

My car died on a hot day . . . got towed in to this garage, they fixed the car, checked the important things after an overheat, like head gasket. Good price, nothing unexpected, car is still running well six months later. Thanks! read more

My usual mechanic is no longer in business and i had to find a new place. Ive been coming here for a little while and everyone is wonderful!! Larry the owner his son the recepionist Linda and all the others. They know what they are doing snd make sure that your satisfied with the work done. Also very fair pricing read more

I cannot recommend this place enough. As a chick with basically zero knowledge of anything automotive, I am always terrified when I need something fixed on my car because A. I know it is probably going to cost me an arm and a leg, and B. I am afraid of being taken advantage of and ripped off. Well I am no longer scared because I have found a mechanic with great prices who is trustworthy! My first experience with Rte 1 Auto Service was when i had a broken side view mirror, and failed my inspection. I called the dealership about a replacement part, and they quoted me over $300! I was then referred to Rte 1 Auto by a family member. I called them, and I was given a quote of less than half than what the dealership gave me. Then when it came time to have my breaks fixed, he gave me the best quote after calling a few different places. I will probably never go to another mechanic again. Honest and reasonably priced. read more

had new breaks done here recently and they started to squeak very loudly within a month on an almost daily basis. this shop definitely charges A LOT for labor compared to other local shops. unfortunately the owner seems like a giant narcissist and is not willing to take any constructive criticism on his yelp page into consideration, he instead deflects the criticism and tries to counter-argue the reviewer in a personal way, often including personal information that should not be on here. i suggest that if you want to start having a better business you take your customers concerns and criticisms more seriously. read more

I just finished having this company service the Gaurdian Interlock System for the last two years. I would never ever recommend "Larry" ever to do business with. He charged extra money to install the device when a set fee was advertised. He has signs all over the shop telling you his rules and how he is not responsible etc. Obnoxious to say the least. His expertise is total BS on what will set off the device and his self righteiousness is beyond belief. Additionally never ever sign up for Gaurdian! The device is antiqated technology that takes forever to "Warm" up. I mean FOREVER! read more

Would not go back here. Found the receptionist to be rude. I needed an inspection for my insurance and she told me it was too cold and too dark for her to do it. I believe the lady just didn't want to go outside to take the pictures of my car. Will go somewhere else to get my inspection completed. read more

As a single mother of 2, having moved to Peabody 7 years ago, Rte 1 Auto was the closest to my home & the business appeared "busy & trustworthy". Lots of $$ & years later, I find out I've paid (dearly) for services that I never received !! If you frequent this business with any kind of regularity you will surely notice that none of LARRY RUBENSTEIN'S employees/assistants last more than 6 weeks !! With an educated closer look (ie: search on the web) you'll find out no one is certified nor educated in the positions they hold !! Please be careful, there are lots of HONEST REPUTABLE businesses on Rt. 1, & this isn't one of them !! I recently confronted him with proof positive I had been charged for services never received. LARRY RUBENSTEIN was not only arrogant & beligerent towards me, he chose to do this in front of both my daughter & other paying consumers !! No paying customer deserves to be swindled or treated like that in front of others. Please take my warning, go anywhere else !! read more

If there were 10 stars, I'd give it to them! Outstanding service, very fair rates (lower than I expected!), friendly and helpful staff, and a large, clean facility. Easy to find just south of 114 on Route 1 (southbound). My Subaru needed a LOT of work, and the dealership basically told me it wasn't worth fixing it, and to trade it in for a new car. I didn't want the payments, excise, insurance, etc...I found the place by accident, and I'll never take my car anywhere else. They have a computer setup for email reminders for scheduled maintenance, which I really appreciate. My car is running like new, and I don't have the associated costs of a new vehicle. I couldn't be happier! I highly recommend this auto service to anyone looking for complete auto service. My car needed a LOT of work (it was in there for a week); they got me a discounted rental car from Thrifty. As you can tell, I can't rate them high enough! read more

I have been doing business with these guys since they were on Lowell Street at the Shell Station. These guys are always up to date on the newest technology, service bulletins, and failure trends on common makes and models. This can save you a TON OF TIME AND MONEY, as well as aggravation in the long run if you have local corner shops and chain stores trying to fix your car. This training and experience doesn't come cheap up front on your bill, which is no different than the stereotypical costs of dealing with the car dealerships. The difference is these guys have a clue and will take the time to tell you what broke, why it broke, what needs to be done, and if it is something that can be prevented. The dealerships just tell you how much and ask yes or no. Then it's a roll of the dice if it's actually fixed half the time! Not just blowing smoke here. I have never recommended anyone to them that has come back and said I was wrong. read more

Just finished getting screwed by larry and his mechanic scott, brought my wifes car in leaking antifreeze. told them where it was leaking and that the heat would get hot for about a minute then would cool down then get hot again. Also told them anything over $400.00 to call first. Well I got the call alright ,your car is done we flushed and tested the system and put on a $120.00 hose the bill is $560.00, Ok fine I go and pay the bill then pick up the car after they close, now theres no leak but also NO heat at all. Went back the next morning to ask some ???s like ok if I have intermittent heat and a leak and you fix the leak how do I now have NO heat, to which scott replied yelling that I didn't know what I was talking about and I could leave it and spend more money or screw, thanks for your $500.00, Also never getting to ask but I believe he double charged me. You be the judge, Water outlet housing, temp sensor, gaskets, clips and heater hose ,coolant kit and three gallons of antifreeze $296.74 Also Water outlet connector, coolant temp. sensor, housing, heater hose ,drain and power flush cooling system fill with anti freeze $248.75 and to think someone recommended I go here Great experience for a first time customer. My advice Go anywhere else at least if you question them they might not tell you to go F#$$% yourself. read more

this place is nooooooo good very poor customer service... Larry is a hot head... and the alcolhol mornitering sysem program they have is a joke... and if you have a coupon for the first month free its not they charge you at the end of your four weeks......... and make you sign a contract for one price than charge you another.... and make sure you show up well before they close or they wont take you..... horriable.. read more
