When we connected ~6 weeks before my wedding, Daniellee did a great job stepping in and managing the plan I had already put in place: getting a handle of my timeline, vendors, and vision for the day and identifying the areas where I thought I would need the most help. My wedding was semi-destination (I'm NYC-based) and Daniellee's knowledge of the Kingston/Saugerties area was super helpful. We were lucky to have access to our venue on the Friday before the wedding to do some decorating and host our rehearsal and Daniellee was more than willing to work with our schedule and dive into help us with decorations and running the rehearsal. On the day of the wedding, Daniellee did everything in her power to ensure I was informed about everything that was going on but never had to stress about the details. She did it all-- from picking up bagels for the bridal suite to putting together healthy and delicious snack trays to assembling 15 eucalyptus wreaths-- she even talked me off the ledge during a freak pre-ceremony rainstorm! She also did a fantastic job managing a complicated shuttle schedule, ensuring all my guests arrived on time and had a safe journey home. Last, but certainly not least, Daniellee is an incredibly kind and energetic person to be around. She checked in on my husband and I throughout the reception, made sure a breast-feeding guest was taken care of and, when our polaroid wall was looking a little thin, ran around at the end of the night taking candids and selfies. A lot of money was involved for us. A lot of relationships we treasure, and several that are fragile. This creates anxiety. Out of all the planners we spoke to, we had a sense that Paula would guide us through with calm, joy, and practicality. The fact that she could easily work with both us (the couple) and family members with compassion, and yet a stern hand when it was needed allowed us to delegate even the most tenuous negotiations to her. She was simply a source of calm for us during the process. ***Contingency***: It turned out that we had beautiful weather for our weekend. However, a hurricane hit the mid-east coast during the week prior (AND the week after!) meaning that the weather forecast was changing minute-to-minute for the week leading up to the event. Paula was prepared for anything. You know when the same 3 tennis players win all the tournaments on grass courts, clay courts or turf? Paula is like that - while she only ultimately deploys one particular strategy on the weekend of the wedding, she had to prepare 5 or 6 in advance - which you know she has ready, and so while we would have been disappointed with rain, we know it still would have been beautiful, and we would not have had to do much different ourselves. ***Organization***: We had never planned a wedding before. Paula's team was prepared with timelines, rubrics, and tables that we could fill out in advance. She let us know what was expected of us at the 1 year, 6 month, 3 month, 1 month and 1 week marks. As the day got closer we had less and less to do, so we could focus on things at home and with our family members. It was really helpful so the actual day was as calm as could be. We met in person once before the wedding to review introductions and accompanying music, our first dance (which he performed live), our musical preferences and the entire run of show. And in the final weeks leading up to the wedding, Jimmy checked in to see if we had any additional requests or thoughts. The process was seamless and it showed the day of. For instance, my mother was insistent that dinner was not a time to be dancing and guests should be able to hear each other from across the table. Mindful of this, Jimmy used the time to play non-dancing music from some of our favorite bands at a lower level than normal. Speaking with a close friend (who knows my musical preferences) after the wedding, he expressed how personal the music was throughout the night, from introductions to dinner to dancing. Success! We Skyped again before the wedding to iron things out and he played different music and genres for us and we shared specific songs we had from our own libraries. By the end of the session, we were all giddy and so excited. We knew we'd made the right choice. He showed up to the venue right on time, set everything up seamlessly while we took photos. The ceremony music got the waterworks going immediately (my wife walked to "This is Love" from Cinderella. I was a mess) and he played "Power of Love" after we were announced as a couple (which he also loved). He played film scores and soundtracks during the cocktail hour - which no less than 5 people stopped me to compliment ("Did you just have the theme from 'Jurassic Park' at your wedding?!"). He and I also arranged a surprise dance number with myself and my groomsmen for my wife during the reception. He played the theme from "Ghostbusters" at dinner and EVERYONE sang along. He played two songs I specifically requested for my in-laws and even replayed the song we danced to later in the evening because so many people asked us to do the full dance ("That's What Makes You Beautiful" by One Direction from "Just Dance 4". It was awesome and it's on You Tube). He played a perfect mix of pop hits and classic rock and oldies. There wasn't a single moment when there wasn't someone on the dance floor. Grandmas and 11 year old cousins and everyone in between. It was so much fun and we got so many compliments. I couldn't recommend him enough. I want him to DJ my life.

Two weeks before the wedding, Angela recommended that my daughter change her choice of tables telling her why her choice would negatively impact the success of the day. She also discouraged my daughter by telling her the venue hadn't done too many weddings. We found Angela to be inflexible. It was raining the morning of the wedding. The venue was willing to wait until an hour before the ceremony to determine whether it would take place inside or out. Angela tried to pressure my daughter 5 hours before the ceremony to make a decision. Thankfully Angela's unnecessary pressure was ignored, the rain stopped and my daughter was able to have the outdoor wedding she wanted. At the reception, all guests were seated and ready to begin food service. Angela insisted they stick to her schedule and wait even though guests were hungry and the kitchen was ready to serve. My daughter asked the venue manager to begin food service which they did. While the bride was eating her salad, Angela went over to her and scolded her for not going through "the chain of command." Finally, Angela left the reception, leaving her assistant behind, without ever notifying the bride. Angela should have been a source of comfort and encouragement for the bride. Instead, it almost seemed like she was going out of her way to add stress.
