1 winter day I came home after work, and quickly noticed upon entering the house that it was freezing cold. I adjusted the thermometer and got no results. When I got online RS Andrew's kept being the 1st search result. I have a wife and kids so this wasn't something I could fool around with. Luckily for me the wife and 2 of the 3 children were not home for the weekend. The teenager however was. She is a trooper so she wanted to stick it out with me. I call RS Andrew's. Very friendly person booked me. The tech comes out the next day. After searching my attic he & I realize the heating unit was above the garage. So he goes up there, and comes down to speak of his findings. He shows me pictures. This is the part I did not like. I feel like people who are specialist in a specific field sometimes try to take advantage of those with less knowledge about that subject. So he says it can be this which is $550, or it could be this which is $4000. I felt like he was really trying to gauge if I would be willing to pay the higher price by how he looked at me and the infliction in his voice. I immediately pulled out my phone to call a tech I know, but just happened to be out of town until the following week. My friend tells me "Neither of those issues should run you those prices even after parts and labor." The tech can hear this and says hold on let me check 1 more thing. He goes back up his ladder & comes back down and says "lucky for you it is the cheaper issue." That felt dishonest to me. I will say it may be unfair to try to gauge how the interaction felt from his end, but personally I am not a fan of people overcharging just solely from customers not being knowledgeable. I probably won't be back. read more

I should have known better than to use this company again after the bad experience I had with them years ago. Unfortunately, they have remained true to the same level of unprofessionalism I experienced before. When I scheduled the tune-up, I was specifically told that the technician would change the filters as part of the service. However, the technician, Nathan, left without completing that task. When I called afterward, the appointment representative actually told me that because I did not physically put the filters in the technician's hands, I would have to pay for him to return and install them. Seriously? I waited two hours before i was told this. The filters were sitting in plain view near the exchange. Nathan would have had to be Stevie Wonder to miss them. I have had HVAC systems serviced for years, and I have never been told that I must physically place filters into a technician's hands in order for them to be changed during a scheduled tune-up. What makes this even more frustrating is that earlier today I was told Nathan would return and complete the job at no additional cost. Now, I am being told something completely different. Interestingly, while Nathan apparently could not see the filters, he had no difficulty emphasizing how "paramount" it was that I spend approximately $8,000 to repair my older HVAC system. There was plenty of attention given to an $8,000 recommendation, but apparently not enough attention to complete the basic service I was told was included in my appointment. RS Andrews of Tidewater remains a disappointment. Thanks for the cheap tune-up, but after this experience, I will not be calling your company again. A low-priced service is no bargain when it comes with poor communication, inconsistent information, and an unfinished job read more

I have been a member a short time, and I am already cancelling service. Recommend going with another company. I am supposed to get a yearly maintenance inspection on the HVAC. They set up an appointment earlier in the month for 7p which was convenient because it was after work. But they never showed and cancelled. I didn't mind too much because I was just lounging at home anyway. Today I had an appointment from 10a-2p. They didn't show. But I received a text at 1p saying I was still on the schedule. A few hours later at 3p, I called. The number they listed was in New Jersey and not connected to the company. She had no idea what number to call. I found a diffferent number to call. An AI answered (lose another star for that). The AI informed me that I had "failed to confirm the appointment". "So we cancelled it". I have no missed calls. No missed texts. PLUS the text from the time window said the appointment was still on the schedule. I didn't go kiyaking with my kids today and it's one of my last days off with them for the summer when we could have gone. Because I was going to go this afternoon after the tech guy ensured the HVAC system was up to date. Ruined my day. Prevented the plans. And in order to cancel I am going to have to navigate through the horrid AI nonsense. Waste of time. There is something so aggravating about an AI voice apologizing. read more

Recently got a quote from RS Andrewsfor a water heater install, as a return customer I did expect a fair price from them. They have installed an HVAC system in my current home and kept it serviced for a couple of years. There quote for the WH install was 1K higher than 2 other quotes I received. Not the first time they have tried to upcharge, there workmanship has been an issue since they left kinked ductwork in my attic after the HVAC install and wanted to charge me for the fix. Very disappointed with them and won't be going back. read more

This is the worst company that I have ever interacted with in my entire life. We spent over $21,000 on getting a new unit installed into our home and we've gotten nothing but a runaround with no answers no transparency nothing these people are absolutely incompetent and they do not care about you. They will not return your phone calls. They will not do what they say. They are going to do. We have been told that we are going to receive compensation and now they simply will not answer their phones when I call. They are the kind of company who operates on the belief that if they ignore you long enough that you will simply go away. She helped us arrive at the best decision for us. Was not pushy or aggressive about trying to sell us something. Our initial assessment technician Hope got the ball rolling with a quality spirit and interest in pinpointing our problem. Hot Water Heater and All new A/C system install. Way overpaid. $25K! Salesman Jeff Duncan totally sold me on how good of service RS Andrews would provide. It was the worst service experience I've ever had to endure. 1. Air Handler froze over 4 days later due to a leak outside. Flooded my attic ceiling because the shut off switch in the pan was installed wrong. 2. While troubleshooting the A/C, the tech smelled gas in the attic because the hot water heater wasn't installed correctly. 3. I had to continuously try and contact RS Andrews of Tidewater to get all the repairs scheduled and done. I asked for a manager or supervisor to reach out to me. They never did. 4. Recently had a brand new a/c unit installed and have issues with the install. And after several phone calls no one has reached out to remedy the situation. There is damage to the newly installed unit and I can not get the "install team manager" to call me back after speaking with multiple representatives and assured I would receive a call. They also installed a replacement thermostat after us requesting to not install it as we had current thermostat that did not need replacement. Our initial meeting with the sale representative was great and he was very knowledgeable. The install technicians were also great. I understand things happen but after spending several thousand dollars on a new unit for it to have damage? This is not acceptable. Still waiting on a "install team manager" to call me back to offer a solution to our concerns. EDIT : nearly two months later I have yet to hear from RS Andrews about and acceptable solution to the install issues and quality of workmanship. I have made several attempts to have management contact me back but yet I have RS Andrews attempting to call me to sell me other services on a "new" unit that is less than months old. I would appreciate RS Andrews following up with me from someone of positional authority to remedy this issue. read more

Beware!!!! I bought a u til April 2025 and by July it was out. They were out of freon which they knew when they installed it but did so anyway. We had to buy Window units because for 5 days they jerked us around. They even sent out techs just to tell us they didn't have any. Also the unit has went out 3 times. They tech said its throwing a code and he thought tja5 a rewire would fix it but it didn't and he said he was a senior tech and didn't know how to make it stop throwing the code. He said I should buy their maintenance plan because it kept happening. Ugh and Now today is the last RS Andrews straw. They called me to do a tune up on a Sunday at lunch time. I set up the appointment for Monday 12 to 4. 1030 came Monday Morning and they cancelled told me to reschedule. So I did for Saturday morning 8 to 12. 802 am came and they sent me a canceled message again. I called and rescheduled for today 12 to 4. This time they didn't even bother to cancel. Then sent me to AJ Perry their other company. I filed a complaint but I'm sure nothing will come of it. As long as they get your money for a unit they don't give a crap about you afterwards. I am extremely disappointed with my experience with R.S. Andrews. I scheduled a maintenance appointment one month in advance and received multiple text messages confirming my appointment window of 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Throughout the day, I continued to receive updates indicating that my technician was still expected to arrive by 4:00 p.m. At 3:03 p.m., I received a text message stating that the technician was delayed on a lengthy repair that would likely take the rest of the day. Instead of honoring my scheduled appointment, I was told to call and reschedule. When I contacted the office, I was informed that the earliest available appointment was the following week because they were experiencing a high volume of air conditioning service calls. This response was frustrating. I arranged my work schedule and took time off specifically because this appointment had been scheduled a month in advance. I understand that emergencies happen, but customers with existing appointments should not be pushed aside simply because new emergency calls come in. If the company was unable to keep my appointment, I expected a reasonable effort to accommodate me within the same week, not delay my service by another week. I also spoke with a manager, hoping a solution could be found, but the conversation was unhelpful and no accommodation was offered. There was no acknowledgment of the inconvenience caused or any attempt to prioritize a customer whose appointment had already been on the schedule for weeks. A routine maintenance appointment is still important. Many homeowners schedule tune-ups to prevent breakdowns or because they are already experiencing concerns with their HVAC system. Telling a customer that they must wait another week after the company cancels a long-standing appointment is poor customer service. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company. If you value your time and expect a company to honor scheduled appointments or make a genuine effort to resolve scheduling issues when they arise, you may want to consider another HVAC provider. I usually don't leave reviews, but I have to warn people to do their research first. read more

On Friday 5 Dec 2025 My wife called RS Andrews and they came Saturday to diagnose my furnace. Pretty easy to read the light codes and diagnose the problem. Now the fun begins, the slow annoying stringing along. Never a follow-up call, we have to call and wait. The answer is always the parts not in yet, blah blah blah. On 13 Dec contacted RS Andrew's and discovered that they actually received my part and did not call me. They said the part arrived but parts dept is closed. I regret calling them, the bill will be $1400. My furnace is still not fixed. I am tempted to attempt canceling, but I know they will legally screw me if I do. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. 24-Hour Service Guarantee On October 10, 2025, I had a new HVAC system installed by RS Andrews. I've been a loyal customer for over 23 years and have always trusted the quality of their work, which is why I felt confident choosing them to install a new system for the second time. Because the installation took place in October, I did not need to use the air conditioning immediately. Fast forward to April 2026: temperatures reached the high 80s and 90s, so I turned on the AC. The system did not cool the house properly, so on April 27, 2026, I called RS Andrews to schedule a service visit. A technician arrived on April 28--within the company's promised 24-hour satisfaction window--but he was unable to check the refrigerant level because the locknut on the service port valve and the valve threads had been stripped. This was a brand-new system, and the only time it had ever been serviced was during installation. Because of the damaged service port, he could not perform diagnostics or repairs, meaning my system was not restored to proper operation within the 24-hour window the company guarantees. On May 6, 2026--eight days later, a total of 192 hours after my initial call--another technician returned and was finally able to complete the work. He discovered the system was one pound low on refrigerant. He also explained that this likely explains why my heat pump never produced warm air during the winter. I have a dual fuel heating system, so proper refrigerant levels are essential for both heating and cooling performance. On August 12, 2026, a technician arrived for a routine service checkup. When he asked if I had any concerns, I explained that the upstairs was noticeably warmer than the downstairs. He found that the system had a refrigerant leak. Keep in mind that I was already one-pound low back on May 6, and the system is still less than a year old. Once again, my system was not restored to proper operation within the company's 24-hour satisfaction guarantee. On August 20, 2026--another eight days later, again totaling 192 hours after my initial call--a technician returned to perform the repair after a part had to be ordered. The repair took approximately six hours. RS Andrews advertises a 24-Hour Service Satisfaction Guarantee: if they fail to restore a comfort system to proper operation within 24 hours, they will fix it for free and write the customer a check for $555. My system is under warranty, so I did not incur repair costs. However, as demonstrated above, my system was not restored to proper operation within the promised 24-hour window on any of the dates mentioned. Over the past several days, I have called multiple times and left voicemail messages, but I have not received any return calls or follow up communication. I understand that schedules can be demanding, but timely communication is an essential part of effective customer service. My next step is 10 on your side read more

I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding an extremely disappointing and unprofessional interaction I had with an employee named Vanessa while discussing a quote for a new HVAC unit. During our conversation, Vanessa repeatedly questioned who I was and what my position was. I was asked more than five times to explain my position. I clearly explained that I am an owner as well as the Property Manager and that, before approving an expenditure of this size, I would still need to discuss the quote with another individual involved with the property. Vanessa later contacted me again and questioned me regarding the name Andrew Cole, including whether he was an owner and whether I was an owner. Andrew Cole is not one of the owners. I found the continued questioning regarding ownership, my authority, and why I needed to consult another person before approving a significant expenditure to be unnecessary and inappropriate. There is more than one person involved in the ownership of this property. I do not believe I should be repeatedly questioned or expected to immediately disclose detailed ownership information simply because I need to consult with another decision-maker. If R.S. Andrews legitimately requires verification of ownership for contractual purposes, that can be handled professionally at the appropriate time. If necessary, I am fully capable of providing documentation establishing ownership of the property. What I found most troubling was the manner in which I was spoken to and questioned. The conversation felt more like an interrogation than a professional customer-service interaction. I am preparing to spend approximately $6,000 to $7,000 or more on a new HVAC unit. As the customer making that type of investment, I have every right to ask questions regarding what I am purchasing, the cost, the work being performed, who will be performing it, the timeframe, warranties, and any other details necessary for me to make an informed decision. I also have every right to consult another person before approving the expenditure without being challenged as to why. For context, I have been involved in real estate for more than 23 years, and this property consists of approximately 285 homes at this location alone. I am very familiar with obtaining estimates, working with contractors, reviewing major expenditures, and making business decisions involving properties. R.S. Andrews was contacted because your company came recommended based upon a positive service experience someone else had with you. That recommendation is what resulted in your company being given the opportunity to come to our property and potentially earn our business. Unfortunately, the treatment I received from Vanessa has now resulted in your company potentially losing this business as well as future business opportunities associated with a property of this size. I am requesting that management formally investigate and review this interaction, including Vanessa's handling of the conversation. I do not know her exact position within your organization, but anyone representing R.S. Andrews and communicating with prospective customers should understand the importance of professionalism, courtesy, and respect. read more

Fast to install the water heater quickly so that they could get their money, and the installers were pleasant enough; however, everything after that was less than impressive. I had to call to find out what the holdup was on the inspector. It took three months to get an inspector out to inspect the installation. I had to call RS Andrews to find out what the holdup was. The person that I spoke to about the inspection problem wanted me to give her (one date) that I would be available, and I gave her three. She got irritated that I gave her three different dates instead of one. If it was that simple, then why did it take three months to get someone here in the first place? When the inspector came out, the installation was rejected; I was told that RS Andrews should be contacting me in a couple of days to take care of the problem. I ended up having to contact them. Then, when they came out (ON ONE), they contacted me to let me know the date that the problem was going to be taken care of. Someone just showed up, and now the water heater has to be reinspected. I was told that the inspector should be out on July 16th, but we shall see, and this isn't even a confirmed date. Let's see if anyone calls to do just that, to confirm the date. Well, no one called to confirm the date for the inspector to come out. Not only that, but they changed the date without contacting me to let me know. I called them to confirm the date, and that is when they told me that the date was July 17th instead of the 16th. Today is July 17th, and the inspector has left, and the water heater installation was rejected again. I won't be using RS Andrews again, nor will I be referring them to anyone. Today is July 22nd, and someone was supposed to come out between 8 and 12 to fix the latest things that were rejected on my water heater; no call, no show. I called several different numbers that I have for RS Andrews to see if I could find out what happened. I got a call back from the plumbing supervisor. He told me that someone had tried to call me several times to let me know that they weren't going to be able to make it, but it didn't happen. I can prove it by the Cox call log on their website. I have to order a vented door for the room that the water heater is in, so now we are going to wait until the door comes in to take care of the inspection problems. We shall see what happens next. read more

I spent approximately $11,000 on a new HVAC system from RS Andrews in June 2023 and have yet to receive a single maintenance service since installation. Every appointment I schedule gets canceled or postponed for another reason. Most recently, I attempted to schedule a summer tune-up and was told yet again to call back after June to reschedule. This is unacceptable customer service after such a major investment. A company should stand behind its products and provide reliable follow-up maintenance. Unfortunately, that has not been my experience with RS Andrews. read more

I am extremely dissatisfied with my experience and will not be doing business with this company moving forward. Initially, I was genuinely impressed by the availability of same-day HVAC service. My technician arrived within a reasonable window, was courteous, professional, and took the time to answer all of my questions thoroughly. Based on that interaction, I was fully prepared to move forward with recommended maintenance, upgrades, and potentially even additional system work. During the visit, the technician had difficulty reaching customer service and began completing the service ticket while continuing attempts to make contact. I appreciated his effort to keep things moving, as I was interested in addressing everything as efficiently as possible. Eventually, he connected with a representative named Charley. Unfortunately, that interaction completely derailed what had otherwise been a positive experience. As someone who is detail-oriented, I asked questions to ensure all necessary information had been gathered--amperage requirements, system performance, operating conditions, and overall capacity. At that point, the only missing detail was my home's square footage, which I was ready to provide. I was also already considering additional services, including a thermostat upgrade and possibly installing another unit depending on system load. I was fully prepared to pay for a consultation and proceed with same-day or near-term work. However, Miss Charley's unprofessional and dismissive attitude made it clear that my questions were not welcome. Rather than working collaboratively, the interaction became unnecessarily tense and unproductive. I would rather take time out of my busy schedule and complete the work myself than deal with an inept representative who becomes frustrated when asked reasonable questions that they are not capable of answering. It is unfortunate, because this situation likely cost the company a substantial job--estimated around $8,000, not including additional work I was considering. More importantly, it reflects a breakdown in customer service that overshadowed an otherwise excellent on-site experience. I will be following up via email and telecon to reiterate my concerns. I strongly recommend that management review this interaction, as it directly impacted a significant lost opportunity. read more

I am extremely disappointed with the service I have received from RS Andrews of Tidewater! What makes this situation even more frustrating is that I have a "PREPAID"semiannual HVAC tune-up plan, yet the last time a technician actually came to my home was in January of this year! Since January, I have had multiple appointments scheduled, canceled, and rescheduled. This has actually been an ongoing issue since I started using this company. There have even been times when someone called me to reschedule, gave me another date, and then in the same conversation said, "Oh, sorry, never mind, we're overbooked that day," and had to give me another date. When I spoke with the scheduler to get the appointment I had today I asked her to please make sure that when we schedule this appointment that it can definitely be done and she stated that she will make a note of it and make sure it would be completed. So here we are today Saturday September 10th 2026 which my appointment was scheduled for between 10 am. and 2 pm. I made sure I was available, only to receive another text message canceling my appointment because they were overbooked. At this point, being "overbooked" is no longer a reasonable excuse when it continues happening over and over again. I spoke with a gentleman on the phone today who explained to me that when emergency HVAC situations come up, tune-up appointments are canceled to accommodate those calls. I understand that emergencies happen and need attention, but where does that leave the customers who prepaid for preventative maintenance? My system did not receive its tune-up at all this summer, and now we are getting ready to head into another winter. What exactly am I paying for? Preventative maintenance is supposed to help identify problems BEFORE they turn into emergencies or expensive repairs. If customers' tune-ups are continuously pushed aside every time an emergency comes up, it makes me wonder how many of those emergencies could have potentially been prevented if customers were actually receiving the routine maintenance they paid for. At this point, the entire situation leaves a very bad taste in my mouth. It honestly makes me question the purpose of selling customers prepaid maintenance plans if the company cannot make those appointments a priority or even guarantee that the service will be performed. From a customer's perspective, it begins to feel like a scam, you pay in advance for preventative maintenance, don't receive the tune-ups, and then potentially end up needing a much more expensive repair when something finally goes wrong. I am not expecting emergencies to be ignored. I am expecting RS Andrews of Tidewater to properly staff and schedule its business so that ALL paying customers are taken care of including those who have already paid for preventative maintenance. Going from January until September without receiving another tune-up, missing the entire summer maintenance period, and now approaching another winter is completely unacceptable. I have been patient through multiple cancellations and rescheduled appointments, but enough is enough! If RS Andrews cannot honor the prepaid semiannual maintenance plan they sold me, then I believe I deserve an explanation, the service I paid for, and/or a refund for the services that have not been provided read more

I booked a tune up and it was rescheduled by R.S. Andrews. The personnel that took my call were polite. I made plans to be at my house for the new date and nobody came. I then called and was told they would have to reschedule again and there is no guarantee they can support me since there are still other customers that do not have heat. This Virginia licensed contractor performs illegal installations and ignores promoting the required electrical and mechanical permits for a heat pump replacement with new electrical installations. Upon completion of the new system installation, the installers attempted to operate the new system after connecting the newly installed larger electrical conductors to the existing smaller electrical conductors creating an electrical fire hazard. As a concerned homeowner I investigated the new electrical disconnect enclosure and found the electrical code and fire hazard. I showed a returning mechanical technician who in turn concurred. A different crew returned to install new electrical conductors. Additional return trips were required to correct the installation so that the wireless thermostat communicated with the system. Virginia Beach Code Enforcement was informed who in turn contacted the contractor. The initial Electrical Inspection failed with an approval on the follow-up. I had to tell the contractor I want proof of registering my York equipment with the manufacturer, needed the AHRI Certification, and numerous requests for paper copies of the ELE and MCH permits. I received the permits by mail days after the final inspections and not prior to performing the job as required by state code. Highly recommend NOT USING this contractor, but if you do, then make sure you get multiple quotes before, and ensure the required permits are retained and brought to you prior to any work performed and DO NOT make full payment until getting the approval inspection and manufacturer registration with any other documents you are entitled to. For assistance using this contractor contact your local permit office and DPOR. read more

It started with Gabriel coming out to give us a quote and walking us through the process on Friday to getting a completely new ac and heating unit a few days later on Monday. Karl and Caleb kept us updated throughout the whole installation and answered any questions we had. They went above and beyond with their professionalism and even left the area cleaner than when they started. We are very impressed and will recommend RS Andrew to anyone looking to get a new unit installed. Thanks for the great service, it was truly a blessing. read more

Carl and Caleb did very wonderful job to install my new HVAC system. they went above and beyond to set it perfectly. Also made my intake portion better upon my request which was not a part of their job. read more

I have had the worst experience with this company. If I could give the entire HVAC unit back, I would. We had our unit installed in September 2025 after this company was sent to us via Lowe's. We had several issues with the inspection for the unit being canceled the day of the inspection and no communication on getting a new inspection scheduled. Finally got the unit inspected in June but there are issues with the install. No one from the company reached out to try to fix the issues. New appointment was scheduled after I called to see what was going on. Hopefully they don't stand me up again and just get the additional work and inspection done before my warranty runs out in September 2026. I will never recommend this company to others. read more

UPDATE: I will not be renewing. The salles pitch is great on a yearly maintenance contract. I specifically asked, do you clean the inside of the Compressor for debris, because the last company didn't and the gentleman was like oy yea we do. Well, Had my spring maintenance and they didn't do it, all they did was electrical checks. I even called and they said we don't do that. Well , by telling me you did do it, you got a customer for a year, but lost the rest of the money for life. Great business model . I would choose someone else if your looking for a high quality maintenance. The work they did in the first part of the review was good, but this was bad. read more

The transparency is defining. These reviews are not one sided, many customers new and older loyal customers have had enough. You did it to yourselves. Not sure how you drove the good name of RSAndrews into the dirt. Congratulations. We bailed last year from your clutches & have not been price gouge or avoided by our current HVAC TEAM. read more

Would not purchase an AC/heat pump unit from them again. Our unit is currently almost 1 year old and we have been having issues since January when our unit was only 5 months old. In January our heater stopped working when it was 21 degrees outside. Someone came out the next day and said we needed a new RDS sensor. He said he would order the part. It's July 31st and no one has contacted us to install this sensor. We called multiple times and were told a manager would call us back and we have not received a call from anyone. We had an appointment scheduled for 5/18 for a tune up service because the ac is not holding temperature at our set temperature. It rises 4 to 5 degrees more throughout the day. We got a text message the same day as our scheduled appointment saying they canceled on us. We made several more attempts to get service all ending with the same result... canceled appointments. Very frustrating!!! Had we of known this is how they do business, we would take our $13,000 elsewhere. read more
