There are stairs up to the second floor. My friend and I took the stairs up from the front door. We bought snacks and I bought a drink at the small concession stand. We showed our tickets and then took the elevator upstairs to the third floor where the performances happen. There isn't much seating where the performances happened. That's what made it all the better! The building is historic and really cool. Buffalo Bill Cody, John Philip Sousa, and P.T. Barnum's baby elephant have all performed there decades ago. There are photos of some of the people who performed there, as you take the stairs out of the building. I'm so glad I had the experience of viewing a great concert at this cool place!

I had read from previous posts that the theater had been moved to Jeanne Jugan Lane in Latham, NY part of the Ashfield Apartments and was very surprised at how very nice the place was. It is a small maybe 100 seats or so, elevated comfortable cushioned modern theater with no obstructed views. There was also an entrance area that sold wine, beer, coffee and cake before the show and at intermission. The show lasted about 1hr 15 min with a 15 minute intermission. I personally thought it was an enjoyable evening for a small town theater.

Every production that I've seen here has been excellent, the staff are friendly, the seats are comfortable, and you can bring drinks into the theatre, which I really appreciate. A favorite date night for my partner and I is to grab a pizza and drinks right next door art Albany Distilling Co./DeFazio's pizza and then head over to the REP for a show. The best part is they are free and open to the public. They offer a range of classes for different age groups such as creative writing, performing arts, culinary arts, digital arts, studio art, crafts, dance, and more. I found out that the last Friday of every month being Troy Night Out, makes a great night out exploring arts and culture. The exhibits are open during the day and seem to draw me in after brunch in Troy. I find them pretty unique and definitely one of a kind. I'm hoping to take some classes in the near future such as sculpting with clay or a few of the culinary classes. Overall a simple and neat arts center with plenty of activities for art and culture seekers.

As a plus sized woman, I find the seats to be very roomy and comfortable. The seats were very cushy and supportive and there was a ton of leg room. I'll go to more shows based on this alone. I think my issue is comparing this theatre to Proctors, which is a very different vibe. The Palace offers more lively shows with less of a strict seating policy. People are often up and down in their seats, there is often a lot of chatter in the crowd; and I think this threw me off my first visit, as I am used to being quiet and still in my seat until intermission. Parking is pretty easy with multiple options locally, as well as abundant street parking. Concessions were very pricy. The bathrooms are in the basement if you are on the main level, so that's a bit of a pain. I won't hesitate to book another show here!
