I came here with my wife on a Sunday after noon for a 3:00 pm show. I took some other reviewers advice and decided to come early. It paid off with choice parking and seat selections. The theater filled up quickly but I came at 2:15 pm when the doors opened. There wasn't a lot of room at the lobby area so we did get stuck waiting outside for a few minutes until those ahead of us were checked in. It's winter time so luckily it wasn't snowing nor too cold out. We had called ahead and reserved our tickets so checking in was a breeze. There isn't assigned or reserved seating so it truly is first come first served. The theater is an intimate, quaint little church style venue with 6 rows of seating split by a central isle. It seats about 90 people and the seats filled up quickly. We nestled into a back corner seat and could clearly see the entire stage. There isn't a bad seat in the house. We could hear and see everything happening clearly and without struggle. What made this theater the gem that it is for us was the friendliness of the staff and the care they had for the audience. It started with a friendly check in, then before the show, a woman came out and spoke to the audience briefly about the theater, the shows to be performed, upcoming shows and offered the whole audience coffee and cakes during the 15 minute intermission. It was the warm friendly atmosphere that was created here which allows one to easily overlook some of the little luxuries that you may find in larger theaters. It's also a casual dress code here so you can skip the formal suit and tie or ball gown and come in comfy jeans or business casual if you like. About the show...We came to see Skin Deep. It was a very well acted comedy and the audience, including myself, started laughing within the first minute and didn't stop until the end. The quality of actors here was beyond my expectation and they could have all easily been directly off Broadway and I wouldn't second guess them. Their comedic timing was perfect, their mannerisms where believable and their tone and inflection came so natural it was all like watching a tv show or movie. It was easy to get lost in the story and forget it was a theater performance. Much time had obviously been taken on the set creation as it was very naturally staged for the story and became just as much of a character in the show as the actors. Kudos to all those involved in this production. It was very well done and is fitting for the other reviews that I had read online that congratulate this theaters ability to provide solid performances time and time again. It was also announced during our visit that the theater is going to be moving to a new location just up the street within a mile of its current location. It boasts a larger lobby, more comfortable seating, a larger parking area and more bathrooms for the audience. They promise to continue their traditions of coffee and cake but they have also incorporated a beer and wine listing for the new venue as well. We are looking forward to returning to the Curtain Call Theater at this location and then to the new location. After this first time here, we are both convinced that Curtain Call truly is a hidden gem and worthy of the great recognition it has received. read more
