My fiancé and I have been to Malta twice and enjoyed our visits both times. The staff are always friendly and the whole experience is really cool! I have always wanted to experience a drive-in theatre and finally being in the Albany area we have been able to. Bring blankets and pillows, get cozy, and enjoy the movie. :) We watched the movie out of the trunk of our car. Some people also bring lawn chairs to sit in front of their cars. Check Groupon for a great deal for two tickets & a medium popcorn before visiting. You can also upgrade to a large popcorn by just paying the difference.

This place is fantastic! It's like a slice of the past still available for modern day enjoyment. One of the great things about being in upstate NY is that there is enough land and the right area(s) for drive-in's. There are two screens, one up front and one in the back. We ended up at the one in the back and it was a bit of a hike to the snack bar and restrooms, but not bad. If you're at the screen up front, you're pretty much right next to the either. They snack bar is very reasonable and offers the typical movie watching snacks, such as popcorn and nachos. They also have fresh made to order items as well such as fries, burgers and... deep fried oreos. I myself wouldn't go for the oreos, but lots of people were. If my metabolism were crazy fast or I was a kid, I might give them a try! Just to see what it's like. We got popcorn, I didn't have any.. you put your own buttery stuff on it. Nachos which were nachos and ok. Hamburger was tasty. French fries were tasty too. The screen was clear, the radio reception was great, the parking spaces were roomy, the intermission allowed for enough time to make a potty trip and replenish/refill snacks. The cost was super reasonable, $8.00 for adults and $3.00 for kids under 12. If you bring your own food they charge you $5.00 for having it there. I would say if you like drive-ins you will enjoy it here and if you've never been to a drive in, go for it. It's fun and we're lucky to have places like this still open and operating :)

For less then $10 to see 2 movies is a great deal! They have a food shop that sells burgers, hot dogs and popcorn and other things, mostly typical movie snacks. Be sure to arrive very early to get a good spot and not wait in line to get inside. When we got there 10 minutes before the screening started there was a huge line! It took us about 30 minutes to get inside and find a spot. The rules for parking are 2 cars between the poles some people park in the center of the 2 poles which makes less parking spots for other people to park. There are 2 screenings that plays 2 movies each at both screens. The sound is sync thru the FM radio station provided. There is a 15 minute break between each movie so that gives you time to refill on drinks or use the restroom. You can bring you own food at a cost of $5 I believe but they don't really check for it. Unless your munching on it at the front gate when your buying your ticket then they'll notice of course! Be sure to bring bug spray or a lawn chair if you decide to sit outside instead of inside your car. Be sure to turn your car on and recharge the car battery during the break and if the car battery decides to die they have a helper a jumper car.

For a reasonable price per person you can drive in, pull up, tune your car radio to a specific station and engage in a time-honored tradition/have a glorious experience where you can watch a movie--or two (same price for a double feature)--in a unique, picturesque setting. Prices are reasonable, and the snack bar is equipped with more than just popcorn--candy of course, but also fried treats like jalapeño poppers. You will have a great time here--an experience, and a special, unique one--I often hate nostalgia, but in this case it is warranted--I will never cease to appreciate this unique option.

We chose the Mario movie and Puss in Boots The Last Wish double feature. It's only $11 per adult! You cannot beat that. We went to the snack bar for some dinner and popcorn. We got a popcorn bucket, hot dog, chicken tenders and two orders of curly fries. Everything was so good, and only cost $28!! So for two movies, all those snacks it only cost $39. The value is amazing, and everything was delicious. Staff was friendly too. Admission to the drive-in is cash only, but the snack bar takes cards. The whole drive-in experience was great! We turned to the radio station and they played great music until the movie started. They also announced when last call was during the second movie. The bathrooms were also clean. I highly recommend if you're in the area!

We had their loaded fries which is topped with a homemade sweet n tangy meat sauce. Not bad. A Philly cheesesteak. Even better. The star of the show was a blueberry sundae fried dough. For a moment, I thought my wife was going to leave me and move in to the theater so she could have them every day... After tasting it, I wouldn't blame her. Make sure to support the snack bar, it is how theaters like this stay in business. Obviously you can't beat the value of 2 for 1 priced movies, so what's not to love? I'd stop by again if I were in the area and recommend you do the same.

This place needs a write-up on Atlas Obscura for being a pitch perfect example of Upstate ephemera…read more It's such a great piece of vintage Americana in CNY. Located in the sleepy town of Palatine Bridge, El Rancho Drive-In was a fixture of my childhood and adolescence. In fact, it's the only drive-in I've ever been to. (Not surprising when you learn that there are only 400 left in the USA.) There's really not much to this spot except a tall, concrete wall with a screen overlay. An entrance booth outside (double-features are $5 for kids/$8 for adults, cash only) and a small building that houses a digital projector, a concession stand, and restrooms. The building is somewhat run down but serviceable with small bathrooms and a spot to grab a soda or any number of menu items. Besides that, it's pretty much an open field where you park your car and turn the radio to 90.5 for audio. (No old-school clip-on speakers here.) The owners and staff are amiable, and you can tell that they genuinely love bringing this unique experience to the community. They do have a no outside food and drink policy, which they really can't enforce. However, it's highly recommended that you purchase something from the snack bar as they really need the support to stay operational. A few years back, they were required to buy a digital projector that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. It's a family-owned small town business, so that's no small sum. Concessions are affordable and tasty here. Far less expensive and a much more romantic experience than your generic cineplex. It's also worth a drive if you are visiting nearby Sharon Springs or Cooperstown. In the future, it would be amazing if they could start showing a wider range of films and promoting themselves a little better. Right now, they're good at getting the most recent releases and bring them to the local audience, which is great. These offerings are usually kid-friendly. However, it would be terrific if they also did nights with classic films or allowed you to rent it for events. I would imagine that seeing something like "Casablanca" or "Back to the Future" here would be so cool!

Bathrooms are limited to one person or family group at a time. Masks required when ordering. Hand sanitizer available, and staff was wearing masks CORRECTLY! With such a dearth of fun activities these days, I don't know why they're not sold out every night! Get tickets with the FB page links. Definitely want to go back. I'm gonna do a little side rant about Yelp reviews here because there's something I don't get. I see a lot of great reviews and then a 4 star review. If everything was awesome just give it a 5. Those 4s add up and I feel like people that use Yelp are always looking for the great reviews. You get a 5 and 4 from two people that love something. Now you have a 4.5 that should have been a 5. Definitely order a cookie.
