I did a date night at Painting with a Twist and it was so much fun! There was a good number of people and our instructor Krista was so nice and informative! It was a great time with good music and drinks. The entire class was about 2-2.5 hours depending on how long you took to add some finishing details and everything was provided from paint, canvas, cups, paintbrushes. You're allowed to bring any sort of drinks and snacks which was a lot of fun. They rotate which paintings they do and post it on the website as well and it's fun to just come and pint even if you're not going to follow the template! I went here with friends this past Sunday and had a blast! The instructor, Alicia, was very friendly, fun, and interactive. She did a good job leading the class. My painting came out very nice. It was nice to have snacks and beverages while enjoying music and painting with my friends. Also, the studio is clean and gets lots of sunlight. It's also convenient that Rafferty's restaurant is right down the block such that my group was able to keep the fun going over appetizers. (Rafferty's also has a very nice patio, and with outdoor heaters, I believe!) I recommend Painting with a Twist and will definitely return! read more

The irony of this entire debacle is priceless. Or perhaps better said, great minds think alike? I'll tell you the story and you decide. It all started last Friday when Edwin P. and I arrived in Albany to visit family. Given the itinerary that his stepsister made, we knew we were going off to paint that night. What is beyond amusing about this ordeal is that it was at the chain known as Painting with a Twist, which funny enough was where I had my birthday party not even a week before. *Bursts out laughing* Now let it be known that I have gone to three of these locations, the Albany one being my third, and if there is one thing I must say is that it is utterly consistent. Regardless of whether in Florida or New York, I have always had a grand ol' ball at this franchise. This time around, rather than going for a private party as I usually do (both a friend's and my own on separate occasions), I went for a public class. My boyfriend's parents, my boyfriend's stepsister and husband, and my boyfriend and I stepped in. We were all grouped together. That was quick and easy we thought. I have to say though that setting up food was interesting at this location. There was only one large table and we happened to be in front of it, so while it made it super accessible to use, it also complicated things in the sense that people kept coming to ask us for food. Or rather, my boyfriend's dad, but eh, that is neither here nor there. Our instructor was Alicia and she was loud, and well, I mean loud. Loud and boisterous and jumping all over the place. I could definitely tell she loves her job and is just willing to help everyone. Art really is her passion. Krista helped her with the paints and both were dolls, but I must say it did take a bit to get used to the noise level. Not sure if it was the fact that it was the Friday before Christmas, but everyone was so full of enthusiasm it both scared me and contaminated me, and by that last part, I mean that I probably got loud by the end, too! Anyway, a few interesting tidbits about this location: -They host tote bag parties at $25 per person. I really wish Miami locations did this. Hint, hint; wink, wink. -This is a stand alone location, meaning that they are a building and they share their parking lot with no one. Talk about spacious. -Two bathrooms are available and they are massive. Easily handicap accessible. -There are two rooms for painting and the main one also has the registration desk. For that reason alone, I found the area a bit busy. -We sure aren't in Miami anymore. Plenty of coat hangers ready to use. -Technology reigns supreme. Two TV screens where you can follow the artist along. Oh, and most shockingly, they hold contests. Not just any contests though. Post a photo of yourself, tagging yourself at the location, and the person who gets the most likes gets a prize. My boyfriend won this contest and received a $10 off coupon, but unfortunately it was only specific to Albany. Shame, too, as imagine if all locations in the US did this. That is, of course, without mentioning all the other games played. There was one where a client got to get a pen. Not sure if this is the norm or just the holidays going about, but we thought it was awesome. In terms of the painting, it was very festive. It was a blue and white background full of Christmas trees. The color palette only had three colors, so that should tell you of the ease. Blue, white, and pink - that's all. I absolutely loved it, but I must say that given other paintings I have done, this wasn't my favorite. I do think it fit the occasion perfectly though as people were there to be merry and party, and well, that's exactly what we did. With family. With the staff. How can you not love this place? The instructors were great and everything is more fun with a bit of wine. I really liked the painting that they had us do. Usually with paint and sip things the paintings are kind of lame so everybody can do them, but I thought the one they had us do was kind of cool and I actually have it hung in my apartment, so I'm very satisfied. read more

I have done painting classes in Florida quite a few times, I decided to try something up here. They offered a special hocus pocus night painting class, the space was bright, open and filled with alot of different paintings that you could sign up for, also was tailored for the holiday. The instructor was nice, she spoke clearly and loud enough for everyone to hear. The canvass and paint were waiting for us, with the brushes and water ready. The class was two hours, the instructor started with steps for each part of the painting, she offer suggestions on some techniques, but nothing more, unless you asked. The class also had music which was at times blaring , it was nice to have some noise since when everyone gets painting they go silent. I dont know if I would go back to a franchise or the art center to do another painting class. read more

Had a fantastic time here with my friend on my recent visit to Albany. The staff was great and very accommodating. We had so much fun painting. I love that there were small games/challenges thrown in so you can potentially win prizes. I would hands down come back here, but maybe this time with some wine, since I forgot mine at home! read more

This is the third painting/wine place I've been to and it's my favorite. The space is large, there's a camera on the instructor's paintint so you can view what's happening if you can't see the actual instructor, the instructors are super friendly, snacks/beverages are cheap. And it's BYOB. A wide assortment of paintings were on display - presumably what they offer - and they were all really beautiful. At most places I see stuff I would never be interested in displaying in my home. But not as Painting with a Twist. Definitely recommend! read more

Our first time here and it was such a pleasant experience. The owner and his staff were wonderful. They made it very fun for my 6 years old in between time when we needed the paint to dry. I absolutely recommend to come here. read more

I had so much fun here! We went for my friend's birthday and I was really impressed. Our birthday group was a little rowdy but the two people handling the class were very fun and relaxed. I really enjoyed the games they have you play throughout the class. They provide you with bottle openers and plastic cups for the drinks you bring (it's BYOB). The studio itself is very nice and there are tvs set up so you can always see the painting instructor no matter where you're sitting. I would definitely recommend it and I will probably be going back. read more

We had a very successful birthday party for my Mother's 70th! Michael was very helpful to my family and I when we were planning this special event as we had never done any "painting" like this before! Everyone who came had a very special time at this very bright and cheery location, the music selections seemed to be geared for all of us in the room and we loved being able to bring our own selections of food and drink for the party and the small breaks. I wish we opted for the longer time (3hrs vs 2hrs) but I do think the 2hrs suited a few in the group. A success any way you "picture" it!!! Thank you!!!! read more

All inquiries are answered promptly and the staff goes WAY above and beyond to ensure a fun and memorable experience. Wow is an understatement! We had our daughter's 7th birthday party here. They were so wonderful with the kids and the atmosphere was so relaxed. They took right over and had their attention from the minute we walked in. It made it so incredible easy for us and we didn't stress once. The artist was amazing with the kids and the owners were so gracious to us. Do yourself a favor and book your child's next birthday here or check it out for yourself some night with a group of adults. Very cool place and awesome people running it. read more

I'm a 23 year old female and my best friend was visiting me for the weekend so we signed up for paint night as our girls night out. The studio is BYOB (and snacks) which is awesome. I was able to have as much Barefoot moscato as I wanted and we even brought our own cheese/crackers spread. Alicia was our instructor and she was so much fun. She did a great job at instructing us and everyones' paintings turned out great. The studio also has blow dryers to dry your painting in between coats and before you leave so you don't have to worry about your car getting messy by a wet painting. This studio provided a great value and I will definitely come back! read more

What a fun evening! I planned a surprise birthday party for my mom and she and all of our guests had a wonderful evening. Our artist Derek was very helpful, patient, and funny and kept us laughing as we explored our creative sides! And booking the party was a breeze working with the owner Michael who was more than accommodating with all my requests and always responded to my (hundreds of) questions very quickly and patiently. Very well organized by the staff and they gave us a great private party room to ourselves. We plan to come back for future get-togethers. read more
