The lady seemed nice and efficient but waiting turned into 30 minutes and I realized she'd forgotten to give my order to the cook. You don't get a ticket or any thing. So even though the chicken was flavorful, I haven't been back because I like organization. I ended up waiting about 45 minutes with only about 6 customers coming through and two did apologize. Called to place an order right when they opened and was told the order would be ready in 15 minutes. Got here and was told it wasn't ready and would be a few minutes because the fish oil needed to be changed. Still waiting for the order for over an hour and being told a few more minutes every time the order is checked on. Tonight was my first visit to Royal Chicken. I was impressed with the food. My wife & I wanted catfish so we checked reviews and decided to try them. We both had the 2 piece catfish fillets , one with fries the other okra. The catfish was very good, nice thick fillets with just enough breading the same with the okra. The fries were average. We've been in the area for 20+ years and think this is the best fried catfish we've had. We'll definitely be back for more catfish plus we still need to try the fried chicken. read more

I called in my order last Friday. The man who I gave my order to had zero customer service skills. I was told that my order would be ready in 30 minutes. When I went to pick up my order, I had to give my order at the window, my order wasn't even taken over the phone. The wait was over 1 hour and 30 minutes. I had seen a TikTok video of this restaurant and told my wife about it because the food in video looked very enticing. She said she'd stop by restaurant on the way home from work but asked if I'd call order in to which I did. Lady taking my phone order was the wrong person answering phone because she knew very little about the menu and prices but we got past that and I was able to place my order . Wifey makes it home with the food which contained fish, chicken, fries, hush puppies,warm rolls and salad . The rolls,hush puppies and fries were pretty good but the main reason for stopping which was the the fish and chicken were a HUGE let down. They were both OVERLY OVERLY salty with either salt or a very salty seasoning. My wife was very very disappointed especially after paying so much for the too salty food. Anyone watching their sodium,this is definitely not your place to eat. (We love well seasoned food ,but this was ridiculous) Our food looked NOTHING like the pictures I saw online. Royals chicken boss is rude and not willing to compensate the customer for the mistakes his employees make they false advertise and manipulate the price if I was you I would ask the specifics before you order because they are confused on what you suppose to get and the boss will not take responsibility for the actions you can order specials and you get different amounts from employees and managers. It's like they can't keep track of the orders in here or something. I called my order in 30 minutes before I got there just to get there to wait in line for them to ask me to repeat it again. Then I wait for another hour in the inside just for someone to walk out into the lobby with a pen and a paper sack to ask everyone there, once again what we ordered. After that, I waited another 45 minutes before they finally brought the food out. Mind you I only ordered a 2 piece and a 3 piece. Only 5 pieces of chicken and I waited over 2 hours. Not to mention that the air conditioner was either off or not working and everyone sitting inside waiting were damn near soaked with sweat. The chicken is pretty good, but the service and overall customer experience was terrible. I actually like this place very much. The fish is great. However, the last 2-3 times I've called in an order I've ended up canceling it once I've gotten there to pick it up. I've cancelled it because the wait would be almost an hour for an order I'd called in forty-five minutes to an hour before I'd even arrived to pick up. That's two hours combined for an order! It's frustrating because when you get there there are people everywhere inside waiting on food and no way to social distance, the young man at the counter is clueless as to what your order is and basically takes it again and can never give you an accurate estimate of your wait time. I went in and was looking around.I was getting real hungry for fried chicken. The inside was ok . The cook has not come in yet which was ok by me. Royals Chicken is probably the best Chicken in Cedar Hill! The flavor is amazing and always fresh...but the service is awful! It takes too long for orders. When you call in they say 30min wait but its usually over an hour. I've experienced this several times. I love their chicken and would give them 5 stars but Royals y'all need to improve your service. The fried catfish is delicious. I've been looking for a place locally with good fish and this is the place it's fresh and seasoned to perfection. I'm not sure what they do to the pickles bit for some reason they are extra good as well. I would have given them 5 stars but the wait time is a little too long. You definitely should call ahead to avoid the wait, but like others have said, it's very worth it. The chicken here is in the categories of your Rudy's, Hall's, etc. so if you like that type of fried chicken you'll be pleased. The chicken was definitely hot, well seasoned, not overly salty, crispy, and the fries were also seasoned well and kind of chunky cut - I prefer thin fries but they were delicious so no complaints from me. It's like any other chicken shack. However, their policy is very clear about their service and fees. The average wait time is 15 minutes. It took about 30 minutes for 8 wings meal.
