During my last visit, I accidentally dropped a $100 bill in the bathroom. I looked everywhere and gave up eventually. Anna found it and immediately had the staff call me to let me know so I could get it back. That level of integrity is rare to find. I guess I kind of assumed his love language was…read morephysical touch (just like my cat's) but after a few months I realized that our "dates" weren't really dates at all. Mostly me or him showing up, watching tv, I buy or make food for him, give him a massage, then he falls asleep and I go into a different room to do work on my computer. So, turns out... I wasn't really dating this guy at all, I guess. I think I was just giving him a place to stay, making him food, sewing his ripped pants, rubbing his back, and really not getting a ton of my love language (quality time) in return. I guess I was kind of his mom but, ya know... with a sexual twist. woof. That was hard to type and my therapist is clearly going to get an earful next session but oh well here we are two days before valentine's day and I'm paying a strange man to touch me. You live, you learn, you go back to being a barren spinster. That's life. Anyway, I was next door getting a pedicure and the woman touching my leg was like... this incredible experience. And it was then that I realized I had not left my apartment in a week and a half and had not been touched by a human in... let's just say longer. I thought about how the night before I tried to trick myself into turning my cat's love and affection into the feeling of a human's affection. Like, we're just in a really comfortable longterm relationship. We don't do "it" but like, we make out I guess... which is maybe just me blowing kisses towards him and him smelling my breath but potayto, potahto. He let's me touch his face so if I had to 'define the relationship', I'd say we're very serious. So I decided that even though I'm adhering to a very strict budget, that it was necessary to both my physical and mental health to have some sort of human contact. I looked up massages and saw there was a place right next door to my nail place. It looked... basic. And the prices seemed cheap... which was exactly what I knew my top of the line would be so it was a perfect fit. Low budget body work? I'm in. I walked over, walked in, there was no one there customer-wise but me. I didn't have an appointment but Tuesdays at 4:45 must be their slow time. I looked at the menu and the prices seemed too good to be true and if you pay cash you can get an even better discount. The guy pointed to the menu and said that the 90 minute foot and body massage was less than the menu stated. That took me a few tries to understand and I'm not sure why and I probably should have asked more questions but I did not and just went with it. Like everyone says, it's no frills. If I had to give the ambiance a description, I'd say 'hospice-y'. The seats are comfortable and my guy did a great job although I cannot relax and cannot shut my brain off from being like, 'a stranger man is touching me. a stranger man is touching me', but I tried as hard as I could to close my eyes and pretend it was the guy I was seeing finally giving me a massage back. I think because he'd never actually "scratched my back" that I just couldn't get there so I spent the entire hour and a half with my eyes partially open either under the eye towel peeking out the bottom to see what was happening with my legs, or peeking through the massage table head hole at the ikea stool or the guys socks and sandals below. I like a real hard, deep massage and the guy did a nice job with that, but my favorite part, hands down, was when he came in and cracked my back a bunch of times and when he turned my head like the girl from the exorcist and cracked it some more. THAT was what I needed. That and pretty much anytime he touched my head or face because mannnn it's been too long and that was like, so so nice. Anyway, I don't know if it was a happy hour special or something but it was only $58 for an hour and half. I ended up tipping $20 because that price seemed so low but I'd totally come back and use this place as my low budget chiropractor.

The place was clean and simple, no fancy decor but inviting enough with dim lighting and gentle melodies playing in the background. Beware, you can hear through the walls -- cars honking outside, staff chatter (in Chinese) in the lobby and shared space with massage lounge seating, even my boyfriend's snoring in the room next to mine during our sessions. We got the combination massage (30 minutes foot/30 minutes body), and my experience was positive. Pressure wasn't consistent during the entire treatment, but for the most part it was on the deeper side and effective. The first half focused mainly on the back, plus neck, shoulders, and arms, as well as a bit of the legs. The second half, my masseur asked me to "turn over" as he left the room briefly. He meant not only to flip over to lie on my back but also to change positions so that my head would be at the foot of the bed. From there, he did a very detailed job on my legs, feet, and each individual toe, borderline painful but overall good. We paid upfront before our services, including a credit card fee (2.50 per massage). Afterward, we gave a cash tip. They have a sign at the front asking for $20 (with very friendly language), which is the typical amount we tip anyway. The staff was incredibly kind and professional, so I have no complaints.

The experience here was disappointing from start to finish. I called to ask about availability and…read moreoffice manager Cherry said to come by. I arrived on time and she put me in a room and when I was undressed on the table she came in to tell me the masseuse would come in another 5-10 minutes and then told me about their parking lot in the back. As a first time customer, I didn't know they had a safer parking lot option in the back but was already undressed and on the table. She could have asked me where I parked and told me about the lot in the back when she let me in but didn't. There was some discussion about whether parking on the street in front would be safe but it was inconvenient to dress and re park the car and get undressed again. Masseuse Maria was said to be very good per Cherry but came in with a lot of rushed energy to start the 60 min massage. The pressure was too light at first and Cherry had said for any deeper pressure I would have to pay $80 for the 60 minutes instead of $70 which would be a "very light touch." When I requested deeper pressure from Maria she decided to walk on my body. It was painful at times and I have had this treatment many times elsewhere and it didn't feel the same in terms of her sensitivity to the client's body resistance. I relaxed and dozed off for 20 minutes or so during the body massage after she walked on my back. But she ran out of oil or had some issues with the bottle and was audibly upset about it which ruined the flow. Most of the massage felt rushed and not a calm and relaxing experience. She left to get hot towels and wiping up was rough compared to other experiences. The oil also felt greasy and I showered immediately after, especially because she wore gloves and massaged my face after the body oil. Afterwards I asked for change for a $20, intending to give somewhere between $18-25 for the $60 service. As soon as Maria saw my $20 and I asked for change her attitude turned sour. She came back with two $10 bills and I asked for one $5 and five $1 bills. She was very unhappy and was muttering in Chinese about it. Word of advice - don't assume your customers do not understand/speak Cantonese or Mandarin because many do. Grumbling about getting change for YOUR tip and demanding $20-25 was over the top and was the last straw. Maggie said restaurants charge at least 18% for tip for individual service. She also said her rates of $80 for 60 min was cheap and other places are $130 for 75 min. Honestly, I am dumbfounded because I've never been to any spa where they had this kind of attitude immediately after treatment because a customer requested change for cash for the tip. Maria didn't even charge me for the $60 and was solely focused on her tip. I told Maggie I hadn't been charged as an honest customer and she looked shocked Maria had not charged me for the service yet. Save your money and go elsewhere to relax unless you want to be more stressed about car safety/parking, how much to tip for subpar service that felt rushed and uneven, and how much other massage places charge and how much other customers tip comparatively.

Well, I created a Yelp account for this review, please be warned…read more Bottom line - don't go. This was not a massage, it was a rub with an exorbitant amount of oil. I have attached a picture of the bottle so you can see how much was used. The masseuse had zero technique and never used his fingers to press into my muscles. He just spent the entire hour rubbing my body with open palms, as if the service was to be oiled up instead of massaged. He rubbed parts of my body that felt uncomfortable and intimate. I left feeling intruded upon and confused. Here is the whole story: I received a Groupon for my birthday and was excited to be getting a massage. I was prepared to pay the (required) tip after receiving an email detailing the tip amounts and how to access the building, which is no frills. I think my masseuse was John, but I have no idea because he never introduced himself. I entered the room which was in fine condition, nothing special. There was classical music playing, everything seemed fine. He asked me if there was any problem areas and I told him my right side was hurting me. He leaves, I undress, and lay on my back, chest facing the ceiling like he instructed. (I thought this was weird because my experience of more than 10 professional massages I always start laying on my stomach to get my back massaged). I attempt to clear my mind of all the yelp reviews I had read, hoping that the 1 star reviews were over exaggerations and the 5 star reviews should be trusted (this could be you!). He enters and turns off the lights, he sits down and gets his massage oil out (this is key). He puts a lot of massage oil on his hands and sort of sloshes it around, rubbing it all over (to be honest it sounds like lube). He then starts rubbing my chest (right above my boobs), my arms, and my neck. The chest was okay, though he spent about 10 minutes on it. The part that felt really weird is that he kept rubbing the front of my neck back and forth, it felt really vulnerable and scary. He also massaged my arms and they were underneath the sheets, so he was going underneath the sheets to rub all the way down my arms which were pressed against my body. He also rubbed my back almost all the way down to my butt so he would sandwich his hands underneath me and sort of push me off the table to get his hands underneath me. This lasted about 15 minutes. Then he keeps going and starts to touch my stomach. He is sitting above me so he reaches his arm over my shoulder, down to my lower stomach and touches my pelvic bone, hip, and the soft lower part of my stomach. This happens once and I say nothing... second time I say "I actually don't want my stomach touched" This is when it dawns on me that all those 1 star reviews were correct and this was a very bad mistake. He rubs my legs and flips me over, he exposes the entire half of my body from my foot up to my neck, so I am split in half lengthwise with the sheet. It is sort of tucked into my butt crack and under my boob. He proceeds to just rub his oily hands up and down my body. Not stopping to massage a specific muscle or area. Just up and down and up and down, replenish oil, up and down up and down. He would sort of cup my butt on the way down, it was definitely not my hip region he was touching. He then puts the sheet over me and sort of pats my body with it and soaks up some of the oil. Repeats the same "technique" on the other side. The massage is finally over, I put on my clothes, give him the 20 dollar tip and bolt. The weirdest part was that he used SO MUCH OIL. It was like he was tenderizing me. (please see the picture I attached, this bottle used to be full!).
