My opinion:1. In house: Untidy, cramped (most indian restaurants abroad are), highly unruly and unprofessional staff (not all of them obviosuly but yes some of them)
2. Food: Decent, not as great as pappadams but decent enough.
3. Delivery: Minimum order 20 quids. Staff answering the phone are rude and unprofessional to the extreme. Firstly, they answer the phone after 10-15 rings and sometimes more. Second, they make noise in the background and talk to other people/colleagues. Third, they cannot figure out where their card machine is and get it to work and so keep you on hold forever. Delivery guys are very polite and professional. Delivery time ~45mins-1hour (I live less than a mile away)
I used to order food from Royal Tandoori only because of the following reasons:1. Only Indian restaurant I knew which would deliver north indian food
Oh wait, thats the only reason. However, there was a catch you had to order a minimum of 20 quids. Since I live alone and don't cook very often, I had no other option but to order 20 quids worth of food and eat it till the next day.
However, one day I was very hungry an decided to place an order quickly without computing if it would be over 20 quids. A south indian guy (sounded like one) took my order (like he was doing me a favor) and said it amounted to 19.7 quids and I said I would pay by card. However, he rudely told me that it was only 19.7 pounds and I needed to order more. Really!? 30 pence? I got my order cancelled (not because I didn't want to spend 30 more pence but because of the inconsiderate nature and rudeness of the staff there). I will have to find another decent place that does delivery now. I am sure a better one exists somewhere round the corner but I have been too lazy to find another. read more
