This was the first Indian restaurant I tried in London and it did not disappoint! I've been told…read morethat the Indian food in London is super authentic, and while I've never been to India myself, I can totally believe that the Indian food here is very authentic. We did family style, so everyone ordered a dish and we just grabbed a bit of everyone's food. We got biryani, butter chicken, korma, and everything was great. My one advice would be to get the basket of flavored naan. They have a selection of Naan breads and they were all delicious. Service is a bit slow, but they also have a lot of customers.

Don't know exactly what it's called but we started with the chip like crackers to dunk into the 4 sauces that was already in front of us. Each sauce was unique and had a different flavor profile so I never got bored of eating the same thing. We also each got naan which I highly recommend the chilli cheese naan! We also shared the karahi paneer which was cheese mixed in a curry with a ton of spices and paneer shahi korma which was a tomato based curry. Each one was super flavorful and delicious! While it was vegetarian, we were more than full with the carbs of the naan. I highly recommend this place. One of the best Indian places I've been to!

When I do go I prefer sitting in since the atmosphere is nice with the music and the presentation of the food but if you take out as a student you get 15% off. Some of the dishes are served with heating candles underneath so it stays nice and hot throughout your meal. It's a bit unassuming on the outside and usually not very busy but it is 5 star rated and very clean. The dishes are around 8-9 pound for mains. If you go on Tuesday (Curry night) for 9.95 you can get a starter (I love the chicken or lamb) main, vegetable dish and either rice or naan (I believe they make the best naan out of all the indian restaurants I've tried in my area) The garlic naan is so delicious! Sometimes I just get some naan from there on my way home because it's so great. I wish they made them bigger since they're roughly the size of a personal pizza from pizza hut, so it's expensive on its own (about 2 pounds). They do loads of special offers so check out their website for them and some photos of the place. It's really close to the university, only a short walk from the Shinfield Road entrance.

Naan, hot mango chutney and raiti were among the extras. A cold Kingfisher on tap topped off the experience. Service was excellent. One server became irritated with me when I used the dessert dishes for my sauces - they were strictly for dessert! He did not hold a grudge and I had to chuckle at the situation. I'll be heading back to try the butter chicken.

A lovely place to eat with great food along the Thames…read more There are a lot of places to eat near the Caversham Bridge in Reading, UK on both sides of the river. I decided to try this particular restaurant located on the southeast side of the bridge. If you are driving, you may have to find an alternate place to park since their lot seems a little small. It is a stand-alone building that looks like a converted house. I had noticed it on my walk along the Thames walking path that it is next to. They have seating inside and out. Both offer great views of the Thames across the walking path. The entrance is on the street side, the south side of the building. The inside is very nicely appointed with hardwood-type floors, linen tablecloths, formal chairs, a very pretty ceiling, and large windows looking out on the river. The menu has a wide variety of Indian-style dishes. I tried the Tika Massala, naan, and the pappadom. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The food took a little longer than I expected to come out but it was delicious. I would highly recommend this place if you want a beautiful place to take friends to have a great meal in a nice atmosphere. Enjoy!

Food consumed during this visit: Pilau Rice, Aloo Palak, Duck Shashlik, Chicken Tikka Masala (Great flavour! with an added spice factor -- lovely), Sag Nan, Bombay Potatoes. Have to try this place! its a MUST!

This place is on the top floor of inside the oracle just near House of Fraser. The crowd of people…read moremade me think it was great but I am really not impressed with this place especially since i came in with high expectations. I've heard that five guys was good while I was in the states but never had the chance to try them out. I did have In N Out burger often (which this place is very similar to in terms of style and serving and the limited menu which consists of burgers, cheeseburgers and bacon burgers) The difference here mainly is that you can add on a bunch of different toppings like grilled mushroom etc-(I'll post the menu) and that they have sandwiches and no delicious shakes or root beer. So I ordered and was excited about having my burger stuffed with deliciously grilled mushroom and onion, lettuce, pickles and tomato. I got the small sized burger which is essentially the same size but with a single meat patty. If I didn't ask I would have assumed they were kid size burgers. However, I was pretty disappointed with the result (photo posted) The tomato was green-which is a personal pet peeve. I need my tomatoes to be always be a rich red. There were only a few scraps of lettuce and the mushrooms lacked the meaty and grilled goodness that they should have. I wish the onions were cut thinner and caramelised properly too. They also don't ask how you would like your meat (mine was medium well from what I could see)however the meat was probably the only tasty part of the burger so I almost wished I ordered it without the bread which you can do. The bun really wasn't special and didn't taste fresh. Okay-so the chips were nice. They also post where they got their potatoes from on a board every day. They are big and chunky and you get a lot but was it worth 2.75? Not sure. There was a bit too much salt for my taste and I like them slightly crispier which these are bit on the soft side. I need to try the new shake shack in covent garden to compare how this place holds up but I have a feeling it will be much much nicer. If you're looking for a good burger in reading you're probably better off going somewhere else outside of reading since I don't know a place here with excellent burgers yet. Maybe if byron burger opens up or gourmet burger co. Although the one I wish will open here is Stacked burger which I had while I was in the states. The most delicious burgers Ive ever had. You can build your own burger on ipads on your seat and the variety is amazing. I miss it more now! So yah- you can get much nicer meals for the price (7.50 for one patty hamburger and little fries without a drink)

I've had it a few times in the states and have always enjoyed it so I was looking forward to a similar experience at the Reading location. I walked up to the counter and the lady who took my order was very friendly. I'm picky about what goes on my burger and she got everything right. I sat at the bar stools which overlook the river and shops/restaurants below, nice view and great for people-watching. Here's where the experience started to go downhill a bit. The lady behind the counter mentioned that they would call my number once my food was ready, but the music was blasting so I couldn't hear them. One of the six or so staff members standing around idly could have easily walked it over to me (there were about 10 other people in the restaurant and I was the only one without food so pretty obvious it was mine). I can kind of overlook this though, guess it's half my fault for not paying more attention. By the time I finally walked over and got my meal, it was a bit lukewarm. The portion sizes are good, I got the "little" burger and "little" fries and both were pretty hefty. The burger was really tasty, had no issues with it, same as I remembered. The fries were pretty limp, which was disappointing. My whole meal came out to £10 (drink included). Overall I was satisfied, but probably wouldn't come back to dine in with the annoyingly loud music. Good burger though, I might get just the burger (hold the fries) to-go in the future.
