On a quiet night, I was expecting better service, and frankly, better food. Instead, I felt like I was ignored. It took too long to get a waiter's attention to take my order and waaaaaay too long to get them to bring over the credit card machine. I sat for more than 10 minutes, trying to catch an eye. My Pad Thai with prawns ("shrimp" in American) portion was small, but not excessively so. I think that if I had chosen to have an appetizer, I might have been satisfied. Instead, the four shrimp (they call them that for a reason) hiding in the noodles wasn't nearly enough. I found the Pad Thai rather bland. Very little spice in there. Perhaps they thought the American couldn't handle it, but this was way too mild. I could taste the peanuts and that's about all. Presentation was excellent and the decor is lovely but I probably won't be back. read more

This was my first time to Thai Corner. I was disappointed with my dinner based on the positive reviews it received and the quality of my food. I ordered a chicken curry and drunken noodles. The curry was cold and they reheated for me. The taste was heavy and sweet. The chicken didn't taste fresh. The drunken noodle was better but still unsatisfying. It was supposed to be spicy but didn't feel much heat. It had a mild soy sauce taste but lacked any other flavors. I have eaten Thai food in many places on several continents. This is not my first time eating Thai in UK (in fact one of the best Thai food experiences I had was in London) so I know that the food flavor at Thai Corner is not indicative of the U.K. Service was great however, very attentive and friendly. The place was busy when we arrived without a reservation, but they got us a table right away. Like in so many places in the UK, asking for a dry martini creates confusion, so the wifey simply asked for a glass of gin (which arrived with a wedge of lime, and that was OK). The wine list was short but seemed reasonable, and the New Zealand pinot noir that we ordered was OK. The wifey ordered duck with noodles, which was a little bit dry, but not excessively so, and was found quite tasty. My Panang beef and brown rice was quite all right. The surprise was the espresso, which was quite good. Overall we were quite pleased, and four stars is perhaps a bit high, but not unreasonable. read more

I got take out at Thai Corner during my week long work trip to Reading. Upon walking in, I was greeted to friendly staff who took my order and showed me to the minibar to sit at. I waited about 20 minutes to get all my food - main course, egg rolls, etc which isn't too bad considering the place was packed. The food tasted great and wasn't too greasy. In my opinion the best Thai food in Reading. Eaten in here quite a few times and although the place is can be a little cramped and definitely gets very busy at weekends ( recommend booking) service is quick and friendly. Food is the main criteria and and I love the Pad See Iew with beef. try to avoid getting seated upstairs as it's a little soulless, feels like you're eating in someone's living room, but at least it's a bit more spaced out. Also highly recommend takeaway which we've always found reliable and even on bust nights arrives within 45 mins. Overall 4.5 stars. read more

5 guys, business, walked in and ordered 5 Singha and asked the waitress to feed us. No allergies and no preference but we wanted to be fed as if the waitress were serving her grand parents and wanted to impress them. Wow, is a good start. We read the reviews and went to this place. From the get go the staff came across as COLD. We have a 2 year old, so we asked the service guys for a table in a corner as we don't like any other guests getting disturbed if our baby is not too quiet. We were refused and told those tables were reserved. We stayed in the restaurant for about 45 mins and no one arrived. Then we asked for a a high chair and were refused. The staff said - #it was kept at the back and hence would not like to like to get it out". Later we found that there was no kids menu. They didn't even serve a plate for my baby. We order tom yum soup and it was the worse tom yum I have ever had in my life. Finally, we decided to get a takeaway because our baby was not comfortable without high chair. Our food was packed and we left after paying. When I reached home saw that the box in which the £16 fish was packed was broken and was leaking. So all the curry leaked. BTW it was our wedding anniversary and despite of all this we were charged service charge of 10% which was not optional. Never going there again. Will never recommend this place to anyone. this is a fair be to have thai food. The restaurant is conveniently situated in town near the station, so you can always grab a meal before getting your trian. the food is ok but not impressive at all. It does taste authentic, with the generous usageof kaffir lime leaves, thai basil and lemon grass. The food is mild compared to autentic thai food. The servie that i have received in this restaurant is generally good and the waitresses were attentive. the election of the food was good and you can always ask for spiciness to be increased or decreased according to your preference. read more

Got charged for a whole bottle of red wine when we only had a glass. Which they promptly changed. Service charge is discretionary but staff seem to need to ask the manager about it. Menu clearly states its discretionary, except for larger groups. Food is good. read more

Great and extensive menu which can be downloaded from their website in advance. Starters were incredibly poor value when you look at the price for them however we were more than satisfied with the value, size, taste of the mains one each and a couple of rices (boiled and egg-fried) to share plus a Thai Papaya Salad and a traditional bowl of Pad Thai at the end though I was surprised when they brought it out with the rest of the dishes as I had asked for the Pad Thai to come towards the end of the main meal. One of our mains was the Sea Bass which was gorgeous and done to perfection and you can tell it was good as we couldn't stop eating though we were all full. Good wine list and we went for the Sancerre that was good (restaurant) value at £20 a bottle. One of the best Thai's I've had a long while and that's saying something seeing the amount of Thai's I've eaten especially in Brighton & Hove! read more

Thai Corner in Reading was nice. We were seated at the bar until a table was setup for us. After looking at the drink menu at the small bar area we were seated. The place is a bit small but they will break a bigger table down in our case to accommodate. I ordered the sharing starter which came with chicken satay, fish cakes, spring roles and prawn on toast. For my main I ordered Pad Kee Mow, which was supposed to be a bit spicy, but i think it could have been spicier. The food was nice and the service was good. I would add Thai Corner to my list of places to eat when visiting Reading again. read more

The food is very nice, however sometimes the service can be a little bit slow. There is alot of choice on the menu and quite often it's hard to choose a dish (as you have 3 or 4 you are deciding on). The staff there are always very friendly no matter how busy it is. read more

I had a spicy seafood soup (don't remember the name unfortunately), which was great but a bit too spicy for me, but I guess that's normal in a thai restaurant. also had a seafood sizzler with coconut rice, which was astonishing. also tried my friend's prawn pad thai, which was delicious. the atmospehere was enjoyable, the waitresses nice and smiley, but not too attentive, but I like to be left alone with friends, so that's okay. always ready when needed I must add. the price is also very reasonable, we spent £55 without service between four of us, for 4 mains, 2 soups, and 6 soft drinks. overall best food and experience I had in months. read more

I enjoy Thai corner on special occasions or when we have a lot of time to spare. Meaning the service takes a long while but the food is well worth the wait. Anyway, with a large group of friends chatting on a special occasion, who wants rushed-fast service? The staff are however very friendly and happy to give advice on the menu despite usually being busy with a frequently full restaurant. As a vegetarian, I love the vegetarian sharer starter with the tasty tempura and delicious corn cakes with sweet chilly sauce on the side. Mains include many veggie options, even the Masaman curry and Pad Thai dishes have a veggie option which I have not come across in other Thai places. My boyfriend (the carnivore) favours a skewered chicken satay starter followed by the pork belly stir fry main with steamed jasmine or sticky rice. I made an order from this restaurant. I waited 20 mins and then was left a very curt voicemail which just said "sorry we're not delivering your order our restaurant is too busy. Bye." I received no receipt to prove this. I hope I receive a refund soon, after speaking to customer services but am still waiting to see. Considering the inconvenience and wasting of my time- the reason I ordered in the first place- I found this restaurant rude and unprofessional. Excellent! I only had Thai food from Wagamama in Reading before. Today, I ordered through Deliveroo and food was epic! My prawn on toast was mesmerising, pad Thai was so tasty! All in all, 9/10. If I would change something, that would be a little bit more food on the main dish. Saying that though, I am far from hungry now... The food here is nice, the starters especially. A couple of friends I visited with (who have visited Thailand a few times) complained their meals weren't as hot as they would have wanted although mine was fine. I had the massaman curry and it was the right blend of sweetness and heat for me. The drinks are expensive at nearly £4 for a small bottle of beer so despite the food being relatively reasonably-priced, we had a small shock when we got the bill! We went to return to this place one Sunday lunchtime to find it closed - despite the sign clearly stating on the door that it opened Sundays. Having run restaurants in the past over a number of years I do not understand how restaurant-owners can expect to be successful when they are so inconsistent with their opening hours. It only takes one visit to closed doors when you're normally open for a regular to find an alternative that they potentially prefer to your place. read more
