I would give 3 1/2 stars for Eden, the restaurant has not the typical always cheap looking Chinese…read morerestaurant decoration. The menu is quite big, Thai, Chinese and European dishes. The quality / quantity is good, the staff is attentive. It is always nice for lunch, but not for a long dinner evening. It is a feeling and I might be wrong. We once celebrated a birthday party with 20 people there, it was obviously too much for the kitchen staff, since some plates came more that 40 minutes after the order had been set. Some nearly finished their meal, while other were still waiting. Very bad impression.

I would regularly order food from this restaurant and have loved their food as I have discovered…read morethey cater for Coeliacs. When I discovered they catered to Coeliacs, I was delighted and told everyone about how good the food was and reasonably priced. However, last saturday night my reaction was the complete opposite: I ordered a delivery to come to my house at 6pm on 02/11/13. At 7pm the delivery hadnt arrived I rang Eden, asking where my delivery was and I was informed that delivery started at 6.30pm, yet on the website it states 6pm is the start time. I was not informed of this when I made my order. I asked for a reduction in price but that wasnt possible according to the girl who worked there. The attitude of the girl who worked was awful and was in no way in what I would describe ''customer service''. She claimed the delivery would be with me in a few minutes. I waited 5 minutes and the delivery came, paid the delivery man and took the food. After waiting 1 hour, the order I received was wrong. I rang back and spoke to the manager Dave who shouted down the phone at me and gave me abuse. He was very nasty, and to date this is the worst customer service I've received to date. I am appalled at the way I was treated. I requested my money back and was told by Dave that he would bring the money personally to my door within the next few minutes. 40 minutes later, still no money, my boyfriend rang up this time requesting to speak to Dave, and demanded he aplogise to me as he could hear the way Dave spoke to me on the phone previously. Dave apologised after 5 minutes of my boyfriend being on the phone, Dave was rude arrogant and very nasty and did nothing but try and belittle me as a customer. After an hour waiting for the food to arrive and then another hour waiting for my money back, I was appalled at the way I was treated and was shocked that people think its acceptable to speak to other human beings that way. If you are reading this and you feel this kind of treatment is not acceptable then I would advise you not to go to this restaurant as this is the kind of treatment you will receive. I work in a customer service based environment myself and would not want anyone to be treated the way I was. Their motto states ''"If you like what we do,please tell others; If you don't,please tell us - Thank you" - that is what I did and that is the treatment I got and I will be sure to tell everyone I know!!

See 2009 Cork review at http://corkfood.blogspot.com/…read more YING'S PALACE Made an overdue visit to Ying's Palace Chinese Restaurant last night and found it even better value than previously and that without any drop at all in quality. I usually go for one of the set meals. They have one at less than 16 euro and three between twenty and twenty three euro. We (these set meals are for two minimum) started with the prawn crackers and then had the soup, followed by shredded duck with little pancakes, salad and sauce. Main course consisted of two sizzling dishes: beef on one, king prawns on the other, both gorgeous. With these menus, you get a free glass of wine each and house wines start at €4.90 a glass. Coffee was included in the price and they also surprised us with some beautifully cut fresh fruit as a dessert (not on the menu). And another surprise on the way out when we presented with a Chinese calendar on a scroll. Nice restaurant and nice people. The takeaway does very well indeed but is a shame that more don't take advantage of this excellent restaurant where the prices are very reasonable indeed.

My wife and I are very picky about Chinese food, as we both grew up in family owned Chinese restaurants. We were very pleasantly surprised! We ordered hot and sour soup, Chinese broccoli with beef and a mixed seafood clay pot. The food was quite good and seasoned just right. Hot and sour soup had just the right "kick" to it! Service was excellent!!!

We decided on the mixed seafood platter that was advertised as large prawns with other seafoods.. after many back and forth uncertainty from our waiter as to what the dish actually included we just went with it as we were craving seafood.. the large family style platter ended up being a small bowl of mostly curried slurry, small chewy chunks of mostly mussel and 'randomness' with ONE medium size prawn.. NO rice or Vegetables as stated. Furthermore, we had asked for a little tap water with lemon, yet served an oversized Evian that we barely drank and charged for it.. too many wrongs to make a nice.. giving an extra star because of location and beautiful concept and restaurant including patio.. maybe we just had a new server that didn't care and ordered the wrong menu item...‍‍

Given popadoms and prawn crackers and selection of dips after order meal which were freash and tasty to nibble on. Mains food was cooked to perfection and very fresh. Chicken in both dishes were succulent with great tasting masala and madras, rice was fluffy but not overcooked. Nan was light and crunchy, chips also crunchy and fresh. Would recommend as they also do Thai and Chinese food perhaps we'll go for that next time but the Indian was mighty good so maybe it.
