I've been going here on and off for about 7 years and I can not say enough good things. Anytime I…read moretry another salon for 'convenience' I end up feeling rushed, disappointed and my nails start looking horrible not too long after. I've had various tech's do almost everything: acrylic & gel tips, gel manicure, and The Deluxe Pedicure is THE BEST $45 you will spend! They focus on detail and making sure you leave happy. My newest obsession is the dip manicure (powder polish), it's a great way to protect my weak/brittle nails without full-on tips being applied. Only $30 every week and a half/two weeks for flawless nails. Tips: 1) Make an appointment 2) Don't get update if you have to wait, even if you have an appt. They have an endless flow of walk-in's. They fit people in when possible but if the customer then decides to select a more time consuming service once they've started, they have to finish. They don't make you wait on purpose, this is probably one of the most efficient salons around with plenty of nail stations and staff.

I occasionally come to Sophia's Nail Care when I'm visiting family in Western Mass, and I really…read moreappreciate the convenience of having this service available in the Agawam area. I've had a few good experiences in the past, and I'm not someone who's particularly picky when it comes to my nails--I usually just need them to look clean and last a couple of weeks. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was really disappointing. They didn't have the pink/nude color I picked, nor the alternative I chose, and the end color was completely wrong. The dip manicure took nearly two hours, which made me miss a reservation I had afterward. Even worse, the end result just wasn't up to par. The dip powder was applied in at least five thick layers, making my nails look bulky and unnatural. The edges were sloppy, and there was visible residue left on my skin and around the nail beds for days. What was also crazy, is that the tech kept dumping way too much powder to coat them (using half the jar!!) and blowing it off in my direction. I was completely (I mean COMPLETELY) covered in dip powder that other customers stuck their fingers in by the end of the appointment. Now that I've left Massachusetts, the dip is already chipping and catching on things. It's frustrating because when you're traveling, sometimes you just need your nails to look decent until you get home--but this time, they didn't even meet that basic standard. I really want to continue supporting this business when I'm in town, but I hope management will consider providing additional training for their technicians. Attention to detail truly matters, and with a little more consistency, Sophia's could be a reliable spot. 2 stars because there aren't really any other options in the area. (Note: the photo with the red nails was taken a few years ago (I've had pretty good luck since then, but not this last time).

I also got an occasional facial and massage done and both services always exceeded my expectations. I recently had my eyebrows waxed by Kaleigh several times and she is amazing!!!! I am very selective on who I allow to touch my eyebrows and her ability to be consistent each visit with the end results and be able to have a conversation with her customers at the same time is real talent! I never have to check my eyebrows when she is done because she is that good! I would recommended Mind Body & Skin to anyone because not only is the owner extremely friendly, she is passionate about her business and takes pride in the services that her clients are receiving by only employing talented staff.
