My family was in the area for a special event. Whenever we go to a new place, I peruse reviews specifically for Indian food because it's a favorite and somewhat hard to find. Like other people mentioned, the place itself is very clean and airy which is inviting. Also, as others mentioned, they give you a mini plastic bottle of water with your meal. I'd love to know the thinking behind that. It's takes away from the class of the meal. In underdeveloped countries getting bottled water is a sign that it's drinkable. Not sure the purpose here, but it feels wasteful. We had Chicken Tikka Masala, Kadai Chicken and Malai Kofta along with garlic naan. We got medium heat and were happy. Kadai Chicken was new to us and we loved it. Spectacular. Delicate and intricate flavors. We always order Malai Kofta if it's on the menu. Never disappoints. Chicken Tikka Masala was very good. We were just more enamored with the Kadai. All the dishes worked very well together. The malai kofta wasn't even hot, but we loved it anyway. I really should have sent it back, but as I mentioned, we were in town for a happy event so we just rolled with it! It was expensive and not something we'd do every week, but if you're looking for tasty Indian, this is it. read more

During my recent trip to Pennsylvania, I had the pleasure of trying Royal Kitchen: Indian * American Bar & Grill. The restaurant is located in Carlisle, PA and is a short drive from Hershey. The exterior has a diner look, but the inside features a comfortable and semi-casual atmosphere. Considering how busy they were, the wait staff did well attending to all their hungry guests. The restaurant has an extensive Indian menu with vegetarian and nonvegetarian dishes. The American menu features typical bar and grill fare such as Buffalo Wings, Burgers, and Onion Rings. The prices are a little high, but the portions and quality of food are worth it. My table ordered a Bread Basket, which featured Garlic Naan, Butter Naan, Tandoori Roti, and Onion Kulcha. This delicious assortment of bread was more than enough for my table of four. We decided to go family style with our entrées and ordered Chicken 65, Butter Chicken, and Home Style Chicken Curry. Every dish was utter perfection, but the superstar was the Chicken 65. While it is technically an appetizer, I would order this again as my entrée. I have eaten plenty of tasty Chicken 65 before, but never has it been at the high caliber that Executive Chef Ramanveer Singh and the rest of his kitchen staff are serving. It had what seemed to be a buttery and spicy coating on the chicken with a delicious curry flavor. I am saddened that it is a four-hour drive from where I live for me to be able to acquire this again. Been there on our way back from Virginia. Cool Indian spot next to the highway. Food was over all average. As soon as we reached we were seated for lunch. Dint need a reservation or booking. The entrees came with rice. And we ordered sone naan too. Palak paneer, palak chicken, we're good! The chicken hariyali was amazing. Adding here a few snaps I took. But I am not impressed by the customer service. Place is a bit too expensive for no reason. read more

We travel between New Jersey and Pittsburgh quite frequently. We came upon this restaurant and it was a serendipitous find. The Indian cuisine was fresh and authentic, and the service was attentive. The tandoori, chicken and chicken tiki marsala were freshly made, equal to the best Indian food I've ever had. It was surprising to find food of such quality at that particular rurall location. We will definitely be stopping here often. We recommend this with our reservation. Also, the bathrooms were meticulously clean. read more

I had a very good experience here as a solo diner. I sat at the bar and was instantly greeted by the bartender who poured me a delicious drink. The menu was incredibly expansive. I ordered chicken curry, a delicious naan and some crispy papadams with sauce. The food was excellent. The curry had just the right amount of heat and was very savory. The bill was very reasonable and I felt like the service was quite expeditious. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. read more

I was passing through and two of us stopped for dinner. We ordered medium spice level (mild, medium and hot) Chef Special Chicken Curry and Mixed vegetable curry, butter nan. The dishes came with Basmati rice. At first there were lots of guests so the service seemed slow to take our order. The food came out fast. The medium spice level was plenty spicy. The chicken was very tender, mixed vegetables were yummy. The restaurant was clean and food was delicious. We would come again. I would order mild next time. read more

Food was great, staff was kind and efficient. The place was big and looked extremely clean and well kept. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because of the disposable small water bottles we were given instead of glasses of water, I'm sure they have there reasons as to why I just don't like using disposable water bottles. Gave this place a try while in town after reading great reviews. The food was very good. I tried the butter chicken and garlic naan and it was very good. Not the best I've ever had, it I travel a lot and have been able to try a pretty wide variety of restaurants. I would definitely come back and eat here again. read more

Great new Indian restaurant in the area. Has a little bit of a variety of food other than Indian but has several good traditional Indian dishes. Very friendly staff, inside of the restaurants really clean and nice atmosphere. The other patrons there were very friendly and ended up chatting with several people. We have been to Royal Kitchen several times and ordered their food for a birthday celebration as well. Everything we have tried has been delicious and the portion sizes are generous. We discovered a new appetizer, "Pani Puri" that is Indian street food and it is wonderful. I have a hard time not ordering it every time we go! read more

This is a relatively new restaurant just before I -81. Many restaurants have failed in this location because access heading 11 S is difficult so relies on 11 N for easy access. The inside is clean and has nice comfortable seating and a bar. They have space for small weddings and other small events. They seem to have a lot of staff and like all Indian restaurants they are super polite. I suspect the owners or manager does not have restaurant experience. Yesterday on Father's Day they had a $35 Father's Day buffet starting at 5 pm. I was the only person eating between 5 and 6:15pm. A couple of other people came in but baulked at the $35 price tag. $35 is not the way you introduce yourself as a new restaurant and build a customer base. There were 3 other people at a table but not eating, and a man sat at the bar not eating. The regular menu was not available. The buffet menu had 23 items, most of them in expensive looking chafing pans. The problem was there were too many items and as you lift the lid to see the dish, there was no place to put the lid. This meant juggling your plate, serving spoon and the lid. If there had been just a few people this would have been a real problem. The food display was very impressive, a lot of work and attention to each of the dishes. There was beautifully displayed salmon dish. Unfortunately as soon as someone takes some of the food the display is lost. The food itself was good, the chef can cook. The Waldorf salad was excellent, The choice of food was not good. There was no Chicken Tikka Masala the most well known to non Indian customers Indian dish, no onion bhaji, pakoras. The tandoori chicken was dry. Cajun spice chicken was not good and why have a vodka pasta dish. There was a fish in a light batter that was delicious and expertly cooked. There were some nice salad dishes. The other Indian dishes were very tasty and delicious. There was a tasty dal dish but no spinach saag. The dessert were limited fresh fruit being one and the popular gulab jamun, no creamed rice kheer or dalbati. I said there was lots of staff there was, but from time to time they disappeared. A polite young man was walking around in shorts bringing out water, clearing dishes and sometimes eating as he walked around, I suspect he was a family member. Another family members sat down and had his meal at a table near mine. There is a large Indian population in Mechanicsburg and these people would need to courted for this place to succeed. The buffet menu should have half of the dishes and half the price. They must have had a huge loss on the amount of food that was prepared and no customers. I will go back and try something off the regular menu as I love Indian food and I think the chef can cook, but this place needs to change quick if it is to survive. read more

First of all, the food was delicious. We tried a couple different things and everything was as good as we've ever gotten anywhere else if not a little better. Waitress was awesome. Any questions we had. She explained right away and was so friendly. What I like is it the fact that they have the Indian food and it is authentic Indian food, plus they have American food. For us the family can go And those of us that like Indian can eat that and the other ones can have regular American food. The quality was great, service great atmosphere was really nice. I like the fact they have a family room and a much bigger space to rent for a bigger party. So I do suggest try it if you're around Carlisle PA definitely worth a stop. read more

We are driving through from Ohio and made the right choice in stopping! We are Indian and have eaten at many homes, parties and restaurants, Royal Kitchen is among the best. Very clean and nice decor. We will bookmark this and be back next time we are driving through. read more
