We started with the pork momos as an appetizer. They were big and stuffed with a mixture of meat and some vegetables. The wrapper wasn't too thick or thin. I absolutely loved dipping it in the sauce, be careful as it is way spicier than we thought! If you've never had a momo, I would compare it to a dumpling that you may have in other Asian cultures. The pork thukpta soup was delicious. The broth was flavorful and although it looks spicy, it actually wasn't! There was a good amount of meat in it. The noodles are unique, they taste almost like a pasta. Regardless, everything was delicious and I would check it out if you're looking to try a new cuisine!

Once she gave us a table briefly went over the menu and their specialties. Listed as a Himalayan/Nepalese food place, it's more of a food from Bhutan. Their menu was very impressive. A lot of good options and the food wasn't that expensive either. Ordered Gobi 65 and Samosa Chaat for appetizers. Shrimp Fried Rice, Puri Sabji, Chicken Chow Mein and Goat Curry for the main course. Also ordered a few Mango Lassis. Even before we order, she warned us that the food will take some time to arrive since they prepare it fresh. In around 10 mins, the appetizers arrived. We opted for the Medium spice level for all the food. But it wasn't spicy at all. She give us the chili paste and the hot sauces on the side to cover it. In another 5-10 mins all the dishes were at our table. Really loved the appetizers. Flavor was really strong and loved it. Also enjoyed the Goat Curry and the Chow mein. Very flavorful. The Puri Sabji was a surprise - it was totally different from what we expected. Absolutely loved it! We were so happy that we stopped here instead of a pizza or fast food place. A worth remembering experience. The hostess was so nice and friendly. Amazing service! It's small place, but very well maintained. Casual ambiance. Locals should be really lucky to have such a nice place in their neighborhood. 5 stars from me. Highly recommended place!

Mango lassi- full of food coloring and the cardamom flavor is so overpowering! You literally cannot even taste any mango. Idk why this lassi was orange bc mango lassi is usually yellow. Naan- literally pre made Costco naan. Not even fresh or in house made. And they're charging $3-$4 for one piece?! Bollywood Platter Appetizers- pakoras are just batter with orange food coloring. The chicken pakora was freezer burn chciken dipped in besan batter. Dumplings were probably the only thing my husband said was edible. Samosa was also below average- literally taste like the frozen ones from the Indian grocery store. So if they is also pre made Costco samosas I wouldn't be surprised. Butter chicken- the worst! Again. I don't understand why you need to use so much orange food coloring. Bland gravy. No salt, the cardamon flavor was so overpowering that it was not edible. Food was around $37-$40. Over priced horrible "Indian food". I even requested the gentleman who took my order to make it desi style so if this is desi style then idk what their regular food taste like. I have tried so many Indian restaurants around central pa and this was by far the WORST. If you want good AUTHENTIC Indian food go to Banana Leaf in Mechanicsburg. I really want to support local businesses near me but if my money is getting wasted like this I will not support them. Never coming back.

Crispy Halal - Harrisburg, PA (2nd Street)…read more This new Crispy Halal location has had a few different lives over the years, as many downtown storefronts do. Before this, it was BurgerIM, and before that it was Neato Burrito--a longtime staple of the downtown Harrisburg state-worker lunch crowd. I suspect Crispy Halal will find a similar audience. That said, I'm not your typical weekday lunch-goer. I'm a lunch-packer by trade, but Sundays are my excuse to get out and try somewhere new. So this past Sunday, I found myself at Crispy Halal. I ordered the lamb gyro along with a mango lassi and fries. The gyro was generously coated in a creamy white sauce. They didn't specify whether it was tzatziki, but it certainly tasted like it. The lamb was nicely diced, and the vegetables reminded me of a simple chopped salad or pico-style mix that brought everything together well. The whole wrap had a fresh, balanced feel and was definitely enjoyable. The restaurant itself has been nicely renovated. It feels clean, modern, and thoughtfully put together. I'm also happy to see more halal restaurants making their way into the Harrisburg area. That said, my biggest criticism is the price. The gyro by itself was around $11, but once I added fries and a lassi, the total came to about $21. For a quick lunch, that felt a little steeper than I was hoping for. Personally, I think this type of meal feels strongest in the $15 range. If you're looking to keep costs down, I'd recommend just getting the gyro. You might miss out on the lassi--which, by the way, was excellent--but it'll make for a much more affordable meal. The fries were perfectly fine, though nothing particularly memorable. I should also mention that I worked at a Greek restaurant for several years, so I have pretty high standards when it comes to gyros and souvlaki. This wasn't the best gyro I've ever had, but it was absolutely solid, and I'd happily come back. Overall, I'd give Crispy Halal 3.5 out of 5 stars. The food was good, the interior is clean, modern, and thoughtfully designed, and it's a welcome addition to downtown Harrisburg. But when it came down to it, the experience felt pretty standard. And that's not necessarily a bad thing--sometimes standard becomes a dependable staple. It just wasn't the kind of meal that had me thinking about it the next day or counting down until my next visit. It didn't completely blow me away, but it's a spot I'd happily return to when I'm in the neighborhood.
