No frills, local restaurant serving up some great Nepalese food. The waiter checked in on us multiple times to ensure we were taken care of and the food came out quick. We started with the pork momos as an appetizer. They were big and stuffed with a mixture of meat and some vegetables. The wrapper wasn't too thick or thin. I absolutely loved dipping it in the sauce, be careful as it is way spicier than we thought! If you've never had a momo, I would compare it to a dumpling that you may have in other Asian cultures. The pork thukpta soup was delicious. The broth was flavorful and although it looks spicy, it actually wasn't! There was a good amount of meat in it. The noodles are unique, they taste almost like a pasta. Regardless, everything was delicious and I would check it out if you're looking to try a new cuisine! read more

We stopped here for a late lunch after visiting Hershey's Chocolate World. It was almost the closing time for them it seemed. We were welcomed by the lady - I forgot her name. Once she gave us a table briefly went over the menu and their specialties. Listed as a Himalayan/Nepalese food place, it's more of a food from Bhutan. Their menu was very impressive. A lot of good options and the food wasn't that expensive either. Ordered Gobi 65 and Samosa Chaat for appetizers. Shrimp Fried Rice, Puri Sabji, Chicken Chow Mein and Goat Curry for the main course. Also ordered a few Mango Lassis. Even before we order, she warned us that the food will take some time to arrive since they prepare it fresh. In around 10 mins, the appetizers arrived. We opted for the Medium spice level for all the food. But it wasn't spicy at all. She give us the chili paste and the hot sauces on the side to cover it. In another 5-10 mins all the dishes were at our table. Really loved the appetizers. Flavor was really strong and loved it. Also enjoyed the Goat Curry and the Chow mein. Very flavorful. The Puri Sabji was a surprise - it was totally different from what we expected. Absolutely loved it! We were so happy that we stopped here instead of a pizza or fast food place. A worth remembering experience. The hostess was so nice and friendly. Amazing service! It's small place, but very well maintained. Casual ambiance. Locals should be really lucky to have such a nice place in their neighborhood. 5 stars from me. Highly recommended place! read more

I wanted some good food and I didn't feel like cooking, so we went on Grubhub and found Everest Spice. Unfortunately when I arrived to pick-up our food, only one of my two entrees was available. Evidently, my second meal was canceled because they didn't have the ingredients however no one informed me of this until after my arrival. Honestly, I am not sure who is at fault between the restaurant or Grubhub but either way it was frustrating because someone was going hungry. I was refunded the money and received an email documenting the refund later that night. The food I did receive tasted great though, as it was season perfectly. Price were reasonable and even though my first experience was frustrating, I do plan to eat here again. read more

Wonderful first-time experience at Everest Spice. The restaurant is a little hard to find, owing to a fairly dark stretch of Derry Street, but it's at the end of a strip mark, giving plenty of opportunities to enter the parking lot and drive to it through the lot. The inside is lovely, very simply decorated in wood grains, with tables and banquettes. We were unfortunately the only diners in the restaurant when we got there around 6:45 on a Thursday evening. Another couple came in while we were eating. We were greeted promptly by a man we assume is the proprietor, given menus and water. The menu is sizable, with numerous Nepalese and Bhutanese dishes. To my eye, the food is exclusively Nepalese/Bhutanese, with none of the familiar Indian dishes prevalent in other similar restaurants. Our server was very helpful in deciphering the various dishes; but, in the end, one just has to take a chance. I ordered a Pork Chilli Momo as an appetizer and Pork-Pa, a chalkboard special, described as pork belly and spinach. B & M each ordered Chicken Thuk-Pa, a Himalayan noodle soup. While we waited, we were served a plate of Nim-Ke, crispy fried noodles that looked like something you'd see in a Chinese restaurant, but so much more flavorful, with a subtle hint of fennel. It was accompanied by a dipping sauce that looked like ketchup but with a truly unique taste. The Chilli Momo was a good sized portion, between a large app and a small entree. Eight plump pork-filled dumplings in a tangy red sauce with onion and bell pepper, delish! The girls' Thuk-Pa was a tomato soup with noodles, veggies and fried chicken chunks, very good. The Pork-Pa, which I'm told will be on the new menu, was a fantastic combination of thick slabs of unctuous pork belly topped with wilted spinach and several mildly-spicy green chilies, just barely cooked, topped with an onion compote and served with basmati rice. It was the best thing I've eaten in a long time! The best Nepalese/Bhutanese restaurant we've been to in the Harrisburg area (where they seem to be popping up like spring crocuses). Prices are very reasonable, and we used a Local Flavor deal that is available occasionally. Probably not the best for kids (or adults) who aren't fairly adventurous eaters, since there was no apparent children's menu or American dishes, unless you count Chow Mein. We will definitely be back! read more

So delicious and plan on coming back! Was looking for food from Bhutan, and found this spot. A group of coworkers and I showed up before dinner and tried out over a dozen items off the menu, and everything I tried was great. I love spice, and asking for "medium" I felt none, so personally I'll be asking for it "hot" next time :) read more

This restaurant is a true gem and the owner and staff are genuine, generous and enthusiastic to not only share their cuisine, but also their culture. As an educator in the area, I arranged a staff dinner in November 2018 at this restaurant to support the students and families of Nepalese and Bhutanese culture who attend our school. It was easy to communicate with the owner via Facebook messenger and he welcomed our large party warmly. We walked away with full bellies, exposure to the culture, and a trusted new community member. I reached out to the owner again this week when our school was hosting a multicultural night and received a very generous donation, which everyone loved (photo attached). This is a diamond in the rough and the location is expanding its dining options to be able to accommodate larger parties. I highly recommend Everest Spice! read more

Everest Spice - Himalayan/Nepalese Near Me - Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

This was my first time trying this restaurant. Recently, there has been an explosion of places serving Nepali/Himalayan cuisine in Harrisburg area. I reached there shortly after the place opened for lunch. I was the only one at that time and till I left with my take out order. The owner greeted me as I entered. He was very polite and patient while I browsed the menu. Inside is nice and very clean. They can accommodate big groups. My food was freshly made and packed nicely. Chicken momos were delicious but not spicy. The spicy sauce which came with it perfectly complimented. Though next time I'll ask them to give more of the sauce. Himalayan chicken soup was very flavorful. The only issue with the soup was overcooked chicken. It was so overcooked that it had become hard strings and couldn't be eaten. It's vegetarian friendly and serves spicy food. You can ask for different spice level and they can make it, since food is custom made. read more

I decided to give Everest spice a try since it is do close to home and had good reviews. I had the Jhol MoMo for dinner. The dumplings were great! The flavor was on point and the noodle was thin. Good meat to noodle ratio. The downer part was the sauce they put on the dumplings is served cold, not cool, cold. It was a definite surprise when i tasted it. (Menu didn't state cold sauce, it's called homemade sauceThe sauce had good flavor and i got medium spice and it wasn't overly spicy. The young lady who was the hostess/ server was very polite and accommodating. She asked a few times if i needed anything etc. Granted it was 6:45 on Friday night and there was only 1 other couple here. This review would have gained more stars if i wasn't taken aback by the cold sauce. Other than that it was a delight to dine here. I'll give them another go down the road. read more

Fantastic Nepalese food. We tried a bunch of their dumplings and soups. Everything was delicious, even if I don't know the official names of them myself. I've seen more and more Nepali places pop up recently, but due to how good this food was I think I struck gold on the first try. Will definitely be returning! read more

Had a few bumps in the road with our meal the food was fine. I am a native New Yorker, I grew up on all kinds of foods. I know it's hard for people in todays climate to have a average looking white guy ask for Indian spicy or try to connect in their language. They refused to give me anything over medium even though I was asking for it extra hot. I asked a few questions on the food didn't really get a legitimate answer. I've spoken to other people that go there and they rave about it. Don't go there on your own go with a regular. read more

The food was sensational! It arrived quickly and was truly great. This is a must try if you are in the area.

Food was great and better than what we expected. It was our first time trying Nepalese food, and it is now our new number #1 favorite type of food to eat. They had great vegan and vegetarian options, so flavorful. Highly recommend, plus owner was very knowledgeable and kind. Delicious, hot food! read more

It was my first time trying this restaurant tonight. I had a real craving for spicy food. We got the vegetarian and chicken thali as takeout. I loved the flavors and the Chicken curry in the thali was on point. Reminded me of my mom's chicken curry. I had ordered just one dessert but imagine my delight when I found three. I believe the people put in extra desserts by mistake and I apologize to whoever's order got messed up. Needless to say I will be going back. Thank you. After a fairly crummy week overall, this really made my Friday night. Thank you. read more

First time here. Had a Groupon. I loved it! This is the most authentic Nepalese restaurant in the Harrisburg area. They have the most Nepalese people eating here. That says a lot! They said it's food "from home". Americans may need to ask for milder on the "hot items". But they easily accommodate. I had several items to try and have leftovers that will reheat well. Easy to understand menu and a nice variety. Also, like Mexican food, it's NOT all hot. But if it says "hot" trust them! I recommend an Avocado Salad for the table to share as a "coolant" if you do choose heat. Momos (dumplings) are served in many varieties and processes. Give this place a try! read more

Everest Spice - Chilli Momos and Avocado Salad - Himalayan/Nepalese Near Me - Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

Another great Nepalese restaurant opened in the area! Our server was attentive and the owner stopped by several times to ask how we were enjoying our food and if there was anything we would change. The decor is warm and inviting and the prices are fantastic! Many entrees are less than $12. We started out with the samosa chats- savory fried pastries topped with chutney, cilantro, yogurt, chickpeas, and red onion. We both enjoyed this starter. I ordered the chicken thali as my main. I've gotten this dish at several other Nepalese places and always enjoyed the many flavor combinations. Everest Spice has a nice assortment of fixings, but the chicken itself underwhelmed in the flavor department. My husband got the goat curry and we both loved the heat level in this dish. I ordered a mango lassi to drink and an avocado salad, but the owner came back and explained they were out of both. They gave me a regular salad free of charge, which was very nice. The restaurant had just opened within a few days of our dinner outing. Besides those two little snafus and kitchen to table service being a little slow, we truly enjoyed our meal here. Being byob is a plus for us! read more

Everest Spice - Himalayan/Nepalese Near Me - Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

My partner and I have ordered from this place three times and received our orders once. The first time we ordered, there was no problem. The second time we ordered, we waited an hour, then had our order cancelled. After several minutes of us waiting on the porch for the delivery driver, whose car had seemed to be heading our direction before it disappeared from Grubhub's tracker, we received a terse phone call from the restaurant vaguely citing deliver driver problems for their need to cancel our order. We gave them another chance tonight, and the same thing happened, except this time Grubhub called the restaurant repeatedly on our behalf, and Everest refused to answer their calls. My partner called, and was likewise ignored. Finally, the restaurant called us back and completely dismissed our issue, saying "it was all right," but making no effort to get us our order. This kind of terrible service is inexcusable. There are other Nepalese and Himalayan restaurants in the area, I'd strongly suggest you order form one of them instead. At the very least, you'll actually get your food. read more

First time at this restaurant and first time trying Nepalese food. We ordered pork steamed dumplings, goat curry and pork thali. Overall I really liked the food! The wait was a bit longer than some restaurants but you can tell they make it fresh. The dumplings are soft and filling. My brother had the goat curry(mild spiciness) and it was very yummy! Even with us ordering mild, we thought it wasn't spicy at all so next time we will try hot. I had the pork thali( mild spiciness) and it was definitely very filling. The pork was very tender and I loved the sauce! It also came with a rice pudding which was good but a bit too much cinnamon for me. Overall with 2 meals and an appetizer, it came to $35 so it was definitely decently priced. read more

This is another hidden gem. It was a great experience and the food was great! We loved the Aloo paratha and the goat curry was delicious!

Was in the mood for something new and never had Nepalese food before so figured I'd give it a shot. I started with the veggie samosas which were (without a doubt) the best samosas I've ever had in my life. I also order the chili pork mo-mo per fellow yelper recommendations and they were also delicious. I wasn't sure what to expect spice-wise but I'll be sure to request to kick it up a notch next time I return. I also requested a take-out order when I placed my dine-in order which was perfectly timed to go when I finished my meal. read more

I've been meaning to review this place for a while, having been on several occasions and even talking it up so much that my office ordered take out for lunch with me one day. Brother took us here to try out their food and it was interesting. Cant remember all the name if all the dishes but the goat curry and the sauteed dried meat was very good. We ordered several goat dishes. The other goat dish was spicy and heavily seasoned with spices to mask the goat taste. The goat curry was very good, the meat was super tender but with less spices u can definitely taste the goatiness. We had some of the steam dumplings and other stuff that i cant remember the name of. The mango smoothies they had were very good. read more

Four visits and I've had good food and friendly service each time. I feel like I owe them a review! Let's see - the food is very flavorful and can be quite spicy BUT not everything is hot. Momos, fried rice, samosas and the mango lassi are all good choices if you don't like any heat in your food. Food can be a little slow coming out of the kitchen, but each dish seems freshly prepared to order without shortcuts. Service is not refined, but they do well. For instance, dishes usually come out in the order they are prepared; if you have a large order, you may not all get your food at once. I'd rather have my food fresh off the pan rather than sitting under a heat lamp anyway. It does lend itself more towards family-style dining, but as friendly as the owner and his wife are, you may feel like family after visiting. I feel like they are a small but solid restaurant that doesn't try to do too much. They focus on Nepalese food and do that one thing well. They are certainly worth a visit. read more
