Three of us went there for dinner on a Saturday night. It was around 7 o'clock, so it wasn't extremely busy. We were promptly seated. After the server came back, we ordered drinks and an appetizer while we looked at the menu. The menu is huge and they offer a lot of different choices. I thought that was a great thing. When the server dropped off our appetizer, we placed the order for our entrées. They arrive shortly thereafter, and were pretty tasty. However, our server was indifferent that we were there. He rarely came back to check on our food or to see if we needed anything. And after we finished and were visiting, they never cleared the table. The dirty dishes just sat there. While the food was good, I'm not sure that I would go back because the server was just not friendly or accommodating. read more

The royal feast was the perfect option for two people to try multiple dishes. It comes with two appetizers, we added paneer. ( see pics) and it comes with chicken Tandoori, rice and gulab jamun . We added beef vindaloo, chicken korma and Makhani.. these two items seemed to be the same. I've always ordered Royal India delivery--but I finally came in person and it was so tasty (as always)! I was impressed by how many people were there even on a Wednesday night. The staff was super friendly and made great recommendations. The sampler appetizer platter was a perfect place to start. Then the butter chicken and sang paneer rocked my world. Not very impressed with the samosa, curry, and Mango Lassi. The samosas are only beef filled no potatoes added like a usual samosa and honestly it's an empanada it tasted like ground taco meat not what I'm used to. The curry wasn't the best and the chicken was just ok. The Mango Lassi was very sour and not in a good way. I wouldn't recommend far better authentic Indian in Reno. read more

I've only experienced one Indian food restaurant my whole life/living here in Reno and let me tell you, Royal India has changed my perspective. The place that I gone to in Midtown I thought was so good until I went here. Their service was so fast too, it felt like the waitress took my order and then came with all the food, it literally felt like 5 minutes but who knows. Their naan bread tasted fresh and not over softened nor dry, the best naan bread I've had so far. It was my first time having a saag paneer and I immediately fell in love with the dish. Their butter curry chicken was absolutely yummy. I wasn't too crazy with their appetizers sampler but that was also different and good. I shall come back here soon! read more

We had a work lunch there recently, and it was a total hit. We ordered a variety of dishes, including curry chicken, butter chicken, and tikka masala. Each dish was absolutely delicious - flavorful, perfectly cooked, and bursting with fresh ingredients. We specifically requested the spice level to be 6, and it was perfect. Perfect balance of spice and spicy but not enough to set your tastebuds on fire. A special shoutout to their garlic naan - it was a crowd-pleaser! What was great: -LOTS of veggie options -The Naan: texture was amazingly light and crispy. Garlic naan was perfectly garlicky -The Kheer: this was a notch above anything else I've tried in Reno. Creamy without being overly rich, and you do not taste the individual grains of rice. It also wasn't overly sweet, and all the spices melded together in an absolutely delicious way What could be improved: -The Chai: the flavor was good, but there was way too much sugar in the tea - The vibe: there's not much of a vibe inside the restaurant. It's apparent that they'd rather focus their efforts on the food, not the ambiance. The booth we sat in was also a bit small. The chicken tasted a bit off -- almost like it was older or frozen low quality slop-- so I didn't end up eating it. The peas and paneer dish was okay, but overall, everything had a very tomato-heavy flavor that reminded me more of something from Trader Joe's than authentic, creamy, rich Indian cuisine. Perfect restaurant. I have been eating here regularly for the last three years. I've been here into the closing hours of the night on several occasions. My go to order was the lamb mushroom [spicy] with a side of the indian spice. I've gotten to know the owners personally and they have always had great recommendations. It has gotten to the point where I come with groups of friends and all of them enjoy their individual choices. Chicken pakora is my favorite appetizer, bhatura is my preferred side instead of naan. It took me a while to muster up the courage to write this review, I have always been a fan of Royal! So many great meals, delicious flavors spread across a palette of Indian cuisine. A buddy of mine and I would stop in one Saturday evening and unfortunately I left a tad bit underwhelmed. My friend Yasir likes spicy food. He raves about it. One day, if you run into a Yasir around town, ask him if spice is life. If his eyes light up and he says spice is life, you'll know it's him. This visit, I told him to go all in, whatever the spice level you want for this meal, go for it! So, as always the place is busy, but the staff are courteous, focused on providing the most efficient service they can considering. The restaurant goers are always lively, enjoying themselves, great for couples and families. The place carries your usual busy restaurant ambiance. I really enjoy them as they cater to take out and dine-in with the utmost care and professionalism. Yasir decided to order some Fire naan which I never had, a chili stuffed naan bread, Lamb Biryan which was Basmati rice cooked with lamb cubes, fresh peas, nuts & raisin, Goat Vindaloo which consisted of goat simmered with potatoes in a tangy hot sauce. We also ordered Chicken Sagg Paneer which is spinach cooked with chicken. The spice level for all of these dishes was about a 4. The Fire naan, I didn't enjoy unfortunately. Their Traditional naan is so much better in my opinion. Their Garlic naan is great too! Buttery and rich with a delicious garlic flavor. This naan was a bit chalky to say the least. The Lamb was good, but seemed to lack any type of range in flavor aside from what was added to make it spicy. I'm thinking maybe go 3 next time? 2? The Chicken Sagg was good and the Goat was ok, but again the spice used seemed to be so pronounced, you couldn't really enjoy the flavor of the meat or even the sauce they made it with. It wasn't hot-hot just... there, making you wish you had some other herb or spice to taste. Overall, this wasn't what I expected. I couldn't leave my wife out though and I ended up bringing a few items home for her to eat which she enjoyed like the Bindi Masala which is cooked Okra with spices, Garlic naan and Butter chicken, spice level a 2. These are always our go to's and always hit the spot. Looking back, I'm bummed I had this experience dining in, but I'll still stop by every once in a while and I'll still order take out. I'd never let one undesirable visit change my heart about a place I've continuously enjoyed. Still, give them a try, be thoughtful in your selection and spice levels. If you want it hot, go 3 which is mild, a spicy flavor without heat, 2. Keep an open mind to try new things and you may have a better experience than I did here tonight and as always -- it's all love. I just hope for a better experience next time. read more

I've been loving ordering from Royal India on DoorDash! The serving size of the butter chicken and rice is plenty to feed multiple people. It always comes hot and extremely flavorful! Absolutely delicious. Last time we ordered, we added naan and a mango lassi. The naan was fresh and tasty. The mango lassi didn't really taste of mango, more just yogurt flavor and also was not even slightly cold. If we have leftovers from Royal India, it always reheat excellent. Finally got to try out Royal India! We got the pretty common items like chicken tandoori and chicken tikka masala, and they were both very flavorful and delicious. I tried the dal soup, that was at a level 6 (extra spicy) spice, and it was delicious too. Definitely coming back to try other dishes and more! The service was straightforward, there were some slight pauses when we were waiting for menus and for the check, but no biggie. The restaurant itself is clean and well themed, with plenty of seating for this size of restaurant. Overall, we will be coming back again, we enjoyed the food and our time here. read more

My order was called over the phone and picked up in store. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala - Extra Spicy (level 6) The flavor of the tikka masala was very good compared to the others ive tried in town. It also came with a good amount rice along side with my order which was great. My only complaints are the spice level and the service provided. The guy at the counter was not friendly and made it seem like I was burden being there. He also didn't even tell me the total price and simply waved at the card reader for me to put in my credit card. For the spice, it was not spicy enough. I got the hottest level available and it barley had any spice to it. I wonder if the order was made wrong or if that is their actual spice level. I also found this on the pricey side as well. One order of chicken tikka masala came out to $20 after tax. This may be similar to other Indian restaurants but I am not sure. We came to Reno on ski vacation and happen to come here for lunch (without much expectation as we live in Fremont) . We were blown away with the service from Mr. Rishi. Service is super awesome. My son is allergic to egg and by chance, one of the disc had used eggs in preparation even though in traces. Staff was very concerned and they (Rishi) informed as they got to know about the allergic situation. Things were in control. What was impressive to me that they were genuinely cognizant and concerned about it. They even offered to not charge for the lunch at all but we insisted and paid. I'm clearly on an Indian food kick. Wanted to try this place we ordered online with postmates. We got the Chicken Tikka Masala and I loved the options of different heat level. I sadly am a wuss and can't do spicy anything. So we got mild, it had a nice kick to it! But keep in mind my friends joke that ketchup is hot for me.. so it's probably not spicy to anyone but me. We also got the garlic Naan. Delicious!!! I wish I ordered more! One thing I love about this place compared to Taste of India, was the rice from here is more like fried rice, so veggies mixed in. Which I love my veggies. Also I saw they had a mango lassi. Never had one in my life was very interested in the fact it's made with rose water. Yum! I loved it! Love this place! We're normally boring & just get butter chicken whenever we eat Indian. We decided to try the Royal India Special tonight & wow!! My new favorite dish is their Matar Paneer & my boyfriend loved the lamb curry. I have no clue what was in those fritters but I ate all of them by myself. LOL. Would highly recommend this spot! I let my friend know that aside from working with a family that offered me Indian food I had never had the experience. But in studying Yelp reviews and pictures and talking with my BFF, I had a good size list and was excited to venture! We ordered two Punjabi Lassi to celebrate some good changes! The waiter informed us that he helped adapt the drink but that it would be in liquid versus blended. We both were good with that, and ultimately feel in love with the drink. Started with Keema Samosa, Panner Bhatura, Garlic Naan, and had Butter Chicken as the main entree. The thing was once one plate came out, they all kind of came out lol! So, we were constantly shuffling our plates which was no biggie. Everything that I tried I absolutely loved (for a newbie). I think the one item I may reconsider is the Panner Bhatura in that it was more simple to me. But my favorites were the Naan and the Keema Samosa. The naan is usually served first in most restaurants but was late and food got cold spice tea never arrived even I reminded the waiter that we haven't received the naan and tea.i noticed our naan was getting served to another customer who arrived after us which was odd.
