Contacted these folks to service my central AC unit,which had gone out the day before. Being a local business with good reviews, I thought I would try them out. I called them, explained the situation and was told "Sorry, we don't work in Hoboken. We're a small company." Really? You're in Jersey City. That's the next town over, not even 10 minutes away. I knew I had a problem when I heard the sound of gushing water and it wasn't raining outside. I opened the closet to my hot water heater and saw it erupting and I knew it wasn't the ideal start to my day. I shut off the water valve and my doorman/super both suggested calling Royal. I called, they quoted me exactly what my super said, and I agreed (how long do you want to be without water, gas, or AC!?). They came in a couple of hours, pumped the 50 gallons of water out of my broken heater, hauled away the old one, and installed a new Rheem hot water heater in two hours. We've worked with Don & Chris at Royal Heating for a few years now, for our loft in Jersey City, these guys are fantastic. Initially they maintained our 25yr old furnace, and then when it finally kicked the bucket they installed the new one. Royal is 100% trustworthy and incredibly responsive be that through eMail, their cell phones after hours or through the office. When our old furnace died (as it all too often did) they were out here the same day to make sure we didn't freeze. Lastly, when it came time to buy the new system, Chris walked me through all the various options and models and then filled in all the paperwork for us to get the government tax breaks and rebates. We hooked the whole system up to a Schlage Zwave WiFi thermostats so we can control all three zones of the house remotely through the Internet. I would strongly recommend working with Royal Heating, and if we ever do move to another place in Hoboken or Jersey City I know I'll call them again for that one too. Royal Heating Corp wasn't my plan A, plan B, or even my plan C. They were my plan D and I was getting rather desperate. Thank goodness I stumbled upon Hector M.'s review and decided to give these guys a call. I love Yelp, but for all its utilities, finding repairmen and contractors on it can be challenging. I left a message at the end of the day and Chris called me back first thing the next day. I described the problem I was having with my central air (no central air) and the steps I had already taken to solve the problem (paying too much money to another company). Chris was able to stop by that day, came within the two hour period he said he was going to be there, and had me back up and running for a bit before the whole system gave up again. One or two service calls later (searching for the leak causing problem) it was time to face the music; the whole system had to go. And I'll reiterate, this wasn't the first time I reached this point, I'd been here with two other vendors. Chris and Don were great, once I was ready for the install they scheduled me pretty quickly and they got the job done in the time they said it would take. After dealing with a few vendors, I would definitely recommend Royal Heating Corp as reliable and I think their pricing is good, especially for service calls. read more

Our AC unit wasn't cooling and wasn't turning on and off automatically. They came last Monday and spent at the most 10 minutes with our unit and told us everything was working fine. We were surprised that he finished so quickly and asked multiple times if the unit would turn on and off automatically according to the temperature setting and he confirmed that it would. That night, the unit was cooling nicely but didn't turn off all night. After a couple of days of this, we called them repeatedly but no one answered or returned our call. A couple days later they finally answered and said they would send someone to look at the problem. We waited all day and nobody showed. They finally showed up the next day. Ultimately, they didn't fix the problem and left the job incomplete. They did however refund the $90 we paid them. Very dissatisfied. read more

I had an emergency and called Monday morning at 7:30 am and a tech was there by 10:00 am. They were accommodating to my schedule and stayed in contact with me until they arrived. I've used them a few times in the past so they are always my first call. It has been in the single digit temperatures for the last 2 weeks so naturally, there will be heating emergencies. My house was built in 1900 and heats with forced steam. Although the boiler is only 8 years old, the cast iron pipes circulating the steam are very old. I've had to replace a few sections of pipes in the past and had difficulty getting someone to show up when they promised and finish the job at a price I felt reasonable. The last plumber charged me $700 to replace about 2 feet of pipe. Royal Heating and Plumbing was recommended by someone at Home Depot. I was told they were family owned, honest and reliable. I couldn't agree more. I called Don on a Friday afternoon. He explained he was on a job site and asked me to call back Monday morning since I stated it wasn't an emergency. I aske for a ballpark cost to replace 18" of cast iron pipe. He said depending on what he saw it might range from ~$300-$500. I did as requested, he promised to be by later in the day and he actually showed up before noon. He said it was going to be ~$400 and he'd be replacing an elbow as well as the pipe to make sure it was done well. He promised to call me Wednesday or Thursday to come by and do the job. Well, what do you know - Don called on Tuesday and said he could fit me in. His guy came by but had to run out for a few different pieces. He returned and in about 2 hours, he replaced the elbow, pipe and a valve that releases the steam but was very old. Total cost - $380. I've never had an experience where a contractor beat both the timeline and cost with no hassles or song and dance as to why I had to pay more. pilot light kept going out in my apartment in Jersey city, Don called me and ask for $317 to replace thermocoupler and one other small part which does not cost much, took Don half hour in total. I felt that I was very much overcharged and on top of that Don was very rude and angry, will never use them again, I don't mind paying more but will not handle rudeness. Efficient company; easy to reach and easy to work with. They have an answering system for off-business hours and they respond as early as they can the following day. We bought a brand new system with them and they guarantee their work for one year. We love the York central AC system we bought from them. We upgraded from an old Carrier unit that still used R-22 refrigerant after it conked out on us. I thought Royal Heating's price for the whole system + installation was also reasonable because we had to deal with another plumbing company (almost got bamboozled) and Sears Home Service company. Royal Heating had the best price. This July 2018 marks the first year since we purchased from them and we are still happy with the heating and cooling capacity we've enjoyed with our new system. We use our central AC everyday, all year-round. There were a couple of times when our coil froze on us, which I admit was our fault. We're the type who uses the heat (showing 77) and just completely switch to cooling (and set the thermostat to 65), forcing the system to overcompensate for our demands. I think our filters were also due to be changed. They came to check our system that same day and remedied the problem. I learned to not stress the AC unit by gradually cooling our home & change the filter regularly (can't have it all covered with dust about 5 mm thick). The only​ caveat is when you go through their financing company (Service Finance Company). We had to finance our replacement central AC system and decided to go through them. The contract (which you sign electronically online) actually makes you put a lien on your home. They don't mention this upfront, but you must read carefully. There's a section called "security agreement" where it reads & checked off, "You give us a security interest in the goods and in any other collateral described above, plus accessions​ to such Property." It's totally understandable especially if a buyer doesn't have excellent credit, BUT it would be good to be aware of such language. Otherwise, if you are good with the payments and able to pay the whole thing off by the time the 0% promotion is over, then you have nothing to worry about since they won't charge you the deferred interest rate (which can be pretty steep). read more

These guys are great. On the hottest day of the summer, I called, left a message with an answering service and I got a call back within the hour to assure me they will try their best to get my unit serviced today. He promised me a call back to let me know if he can. He called back when he said he would telling me the guys "have one more stop before you," and he estimated their arrival at 3:15 arrival, he was wrong, they actually arrived at 3:00. Fixed the problem within an hour and were gone at a reasonable price. Why is it so hard to find service of any kind these days? Well, since you asked: we've removed vocational education from our public schools--that's why. Kids aren't introduced to the idea of working with their hands as a possible career choice which, sadly, is just what many of them need, at least in high school. So, we are left to rely on mostly shady, inept, incompetent contractors who boast "general contractor's licenses. The problem is a high functioning baboon can get that license, slap a magnet on the side of a van an us idiots are convinced they are experts in whatever they claim to be. I have had nothing but great experiences with Chris and Royal Heating. It's hard to find a trustworthy, honest, and responsive technician in this industry, but Chris and his team surpassed expectations on all fronts. Royal Heating assessed the way my furnace was set up in my new condo since the closet sits near the living room and produced an incredible amount of noise. Chris and his team was able to completely redo the setup and after they were done we could barely hear anything. In fact, many units in my building hired Royal after the great experience we had with them. Since then I had a number of other requests and questions for Chris. He will respond to questions via email and will take the time to actually provide advice and guidance without even trying to make a sale. It got to the point that I felt bad asking him his advice on so many things because he wasn't being paid for any of it, but rather taking up his time! All in all, I've never heard of anyone having a bad experience with Royal and I've known many people who have used them. You can't go wrong with these guys. read more

What a waste of $96!! The technician seemed lazy and didn't want to work. My living room doesn't have any air blowing into it and thats why i called the Royal heating. The technician came and we changed the air filter and thats it. The guy the said "thats how the system was built". what?! The system was built to blow air in every room. its your job to diagnose the problem and fix it. Now i get that the technician needs to get paid to come out in cold to check out the problem and thats why i had to pay $96. so i get that. But this is why you get 1 star. I told the technician to check the vents/ducts, maybe there was loose connection. The technician said no said No and gave me some lazy excuse to avoid that. Then i told him to check out the heating unit to see if its big enough for the entire house or just to make sure whether it is working fine, but he didn't do that either. Correct me if i am wrong, but shouldn't a heating repair company at least check the heating unit to see everything is okay? how do you know what the problem is if you don't check where the hot air is coming from. My hot water heater cracked and I needed it repaired as soon as possible. I called Royal Heating due to the positive feedback on yelp and after leaving a message recieved a call back from Chris about 30 minutes later. He agreed to stop by my place in Hoboken to go over the damage. I had to work the next two days and Royal isn't open on weekends so he reccommended me to another repair place in Jersey City that he trusted and is open on Saturdays. After I recieved my quote from the other company I called Chris back and asked him if he thought that was a good price, he broke down the costs with me and was very patient especially considering this wasn't going to be his job! The other place did a great job, but Chris will be my first call since he was really helpful and honest and went out of his way to help me. read more

I would admit that our unit's phone system was not properly updated by management so I could state the this company's argument on this point (and took that into consideration) but it does not explain everything else.... First, I thought the appointment was yesterday but I got no calls or no show... So I thought I must have misheard and assume it was today... I waited and no one showed up.. I called the office to check on the status update and then he stated that his son showed up yesterday and that no one was home.. For one, I won't argue that he used the phone system in the front and was directed to the wrong phone number there. So I could understand that argument (as I stated above).. The issue I have is: 1) They assume no one was home because I didn't call yesterday.. But the issue is that I told them when I scheduled the appointment that I WORK FROM HOME! Added, my sister in law was in the house as well at the time (from 12pm - 6pm).. So they telling me that no one was home is nonsense.. 2) I provided them my cell phone number and my phone is the lifeblood of my work. The phone has been ringing away from the time period without issue. I even called clients at 2, 3, and 4 pm and got incoming calls (with voicemails on those I have missed).. Your company has my cell phone number so you could call that (which they state they did) Why I give them bad review is that one: I was giving his son a benefit of a doubt but I asked him... Did he leave a voicemail message? He stated he called twice and he did... For one, if he did.. I would like to address the issue with AT&T on the matter... But instead, he went into a rant that I am accusing his son as being a liar.. Furthermore, he just hung up on me afterward... Again, if this is professionalism... I must have really high expectation because 2 HVAC people who just can't even call.. If your son can't get through.. Maybe you as a dispatcher could call to test it out? Because I hate missed appointments... Again, I don't understand is how I am getting cell phone calls at the time of the appointment and voicemails.. But somehow, I miss their calls and voicemails.. So unless AT&T is screwing me, the information don't make sense.. Again, you have to prove to me how I am getting calls but not your son (yes, at this time I am accusing because the dispatcher is being unreasonable)... I could give you my AT&T incoming and outgoing activity on my phone... BTW, I called them (AT&T) and they verified that I got all my voicemails and messages.. read more

The guys at Royal Heating have come to my rescue several times over the years, replacing my furnace, A/C, and now my hot water heater. They are knowledgable, helpful, friendly, and aren't out to nickel and dime you. Their prices are a little higher from other places I've found, but their customer service is worth every extra penny. In fact right now, Damien and Travis are here replacing my hot water heater, even though we are having a blizzard outside. I have recommended them multiple times to friends and everyone's experience has been as positive as mine. I could not recommend them more highly. read more

I rarely leave reviews (this is my 3rd lifetime review) but was compelled to write this one. Chris from Royal heating and cooling was amazing - professional, courteous, knowledgeable, honest. He even came with his own booties! He found a solution for my Unico HVAC handler unit that none of the previous servicemen ever offered. He even went back to his office to find some parts to provide a solution for me and came back within an hour. Not only did Chris solve a long outstanding issue, he also educated me a great bit along the way and, I suspect, saved me a lot of $$. I wanted to clean my AC coils and previous servicemen quoted $295 for the job. I did some online research and found out that I can clean coils on my own for $10 (price of the cleaning foam) but i was still a bit worried about doing it myself. Chris had a similar spray with him and spray cleaned my coils for no extra charge! I wish every service professional were like Chris. I hope Royal Heating and cooling continues to service our area for many years to come. read more

Royal Heating came out to do servicing of the AC. They added Freon. Next year they came out again and added Freon. I should have dropped them after the first visit. AC are closed systems. I you add Freon you will need to find the leak. They did not. I used another company and they said the Freon level was fine. This pointed out that there is some dishonesty here.
