Very quick to respond and while not an emergency, able to have someone in my apartment the next day to fix my toilet issues. impressed with the customer service, and attention to detail. read more

I've used S&B Plumbing for over 20+ years. No matter the issue or emergency, they have never let me down in the least. They are all prompt, polite, efficient, and responsive. I've had them do many things for me over the years: hot water tanks, heating system repairs, toilets, faucets, etc...they have never let me down - ever! Great service and attention to detail every time. read more

They came the day before delivery of a new washing machine and replaced valves with very little notice. They were very reasonable and as others have said did a fantastic job! I highly recommend them! read more

I love S&B plumbing. I have lived in Hoboken 23 years and they have handled about 5 or 6 jobs for me. Always very responsive and clear in their explanations of what I need and they have great availability. They are here right now and installing a new stacked washer and dryer. I had some issues with the shipping company who kept rescheduling. They were great and said just call us whenever it gets there and we will send someone out. I explained that I had 48 hours from day of delivery to have it installed and checked out if there were any problems and I needed to return it. They understood and said no problem, they would make sure they had someone there to install and inspect. They sent a plumber out a week ago to unhook my old gas w/d. I had them scheduled to come the next day to install the new one, but the shipping company canceled at the last minute. I worked with Joanne on the phone and she said just keep them in the loop. I informed Joanne that it was now scheduled to arrive today and she said no problem. Just call them when it is in my apartment and they will send someone over. Sure enough, it got dropped off and I called. They had Jose here in 30 minutes. The same guy who unhooked the old unit, so he was familiar with everything. Terrific team! read more

I had a leaky in my ceiling and called S & B and received a speedy response. Steve was able to come the next day and ascertain that the leak was not a plumbing, but rather, caulking problem. He was so kind and honest. I will definitely call them next time I have any plumbing related issues!! read more

I have used a number of different plumbers in the over 30 years we have been in Hoboken. None have been more reliable or easier to deal with than S & B. They show up when they say they will, usually in a very timely fashion, and just get the job done. They have contacts for other people who can do things they can't who also answer and respond quickly. They are great at figuring out what is wrong -- not always obvious -- and coming up with a quick solution. We have had them come in the middle of winter when we were out of heat, and recently when water was pouring from the second to the first floor and no one could figure out why. Steve is great! read more

I called them and another plumber yesterday for a dishwasher install last minute. Needed a valve changed. One said a month, S&B stayed next day. Get a call a few minutes later that they had an opening. They got someone out here in time, didn't charge me an arm and a leg, and I appreciated working with their whole team. Would highly recommend. Thanks all! read more

I highly recommend Steve and S&B Plumbing. My HWH started to leak and needed replacing. I called and left a message, he returned my call within 10 mins and was at my place in a couple of hours. He was able to have is team member replace the water heater the next day, he was neat and informative. Steve came by to review the work and sign off on the job. He told me to call with any issues or questions, he was a great guy! It was a great experience all around. read more

Super awesome! Steve returned my call quickly, and he came over exactly when he said he would. He took at the look at the small leak/hissing sound we had under our kitchen sink and immediately knew what was wrong. He pulled the pipe out and fixed it, he said that if it happens again it would be worth replacing just that portion of the pipe which he could do with a day's notice. A very dependable plumber, would recommend him to my own friends so thought I should share with my Yelp friends! read more

I called S&B after a very bad experience earlier in the day with Luongo Plumbing (who happened to come highly recommended to us). Here's the story: It's the middle of winter and we find ourselves with no heat and negative temperatures on the horizon. The previously mentioned guys came out spent about 5 mins looking at my furnace and said, "You likely have a frozen pipe, there's nothing we can do. It's eventually going to burst, here's how to shut it off when it does and then call us to come fix it." Then they left! Having survived hurricane Sandy and living on the ground floor, we are no strangers to a flooded apartment but I couldn't believe there was no recourse and that I simply had to wait around until the inevitable burst and flood! Was there no getting ahead of this?! I just had to wait till the damage was done?! We decided a second opnion was in order! Off to Yelp for a search of other local plumbers... We decided to give S&B a try based on the good reviews here and other sites. At around 5:15 pm I called and left a message. About 20 minutes later Steve called back and said he could come shortly. I was pleasantly surprised. I was thinking maybe I'd be lucky to get an appointment for the next day, let alone the same day! He also told me there would be no charge for the service call unless any work was done. I was happy to hear that as other companies I had researched charged just to come out in addition to any work. In less than 10 minutes he was at my door! Right away he was so different from the other guys. He walked from room to room actually looked at all my heaters and the furnace, did some tests and even though he came to the same conclusion that it was likely a frozen pipe, he didn't give up there! He kept a hose running and was trying some troubleshooting things. He also discussed what we could do to fix it before it burst, that they could try to thaw and repair any broken pipes rather then me waiting until they thaw and flood on their own. I was happy to hear we could try a preemptive strike and not just wait until there's a puddle of water on my floor! Luckily none of those scenarios happened because Steve was able to clear the line! He worked his magic and somehow was able to get it running! He said it was likely a partial freeze vs a solid freeze and was able to clear it out. In the time he was here, he not only fixed my heater, but also gave me peace of mind that if he hadn't been able to get it running that night that there was still something he could do. There would be no just waiting until I have a flood with S&B! Steve wanted to do everything to PREVENT me from having to go through all that and he did! He actually worked to resolve the issue rather than take the easy way out. I am SO happy with the prompt, throuough, and professional service I recieved. The cost was also very reasonable and less than most of the other places I researched. Though I would have paid more because the great service was worth every penny! I was in a desperate and stressful situation and S&B bailed me out! Next time they will be my first call! read more

I had my 9 year old Rheem water heater replaced by S & B Plumbing with a 50 gallon Bradford White water heater. The removal of my old one and installation of the new one couldn't have gone smoother. OK where do I begin I see there are four other reviews for the same problem that I am dealing with I have called left numerous messages finally someone came it was the owner to give me an estimate after waiting 5 days I finally got an estimate. I called back the following day no one returned my call I called 6 more times no one return my call finally today Thursday November 1st I called up I got a very nasty woman on the phone who really didn't care if she got the business or not I asked her if she was a relative of the owner and she said no and I said do you usually talk to customers in that tone of voice and she laughed and she said if you don't want to do business with us you could take your business elsewhere not only was his estimate the highest out of 3 other people but the speaking mannerism of this woman who answers his phone is horrible she seems like a very unhappy Person. If you're looking for a reliable plumber do not call them. They really don't care if they get the business or not I had to give them one star or else I was unable to put this throw horrible customer service. read more

Really amazing plumber! I hired them to install a stackable washer & dryer (gas) into a closet to replace my old one that died. This is a job that The Home Depot's installers decided they didn't want to do after looking at it. But Steve and his guy both did a great job. Steve came by to check it out first and make sure the new machines would fit. He even came over a second time to unhook my old washer & dryer for me the day before installing the new ones. These are the people to hire if you need a plumbing job done, and done right. For installation, they might be a little bit more than The Home Depot or whomever arrives from the big box stores, but they are totally worth every penny. And frankly, the price is very reasonable for the fantastic work done. read more

S&B have done a fantastic job taking care of the plumbing in my house in Weehawken for years now. From small stuff (fixing sinks) to big stuff (replacing major sections of piping in a old basement). Steve is knowledgeable, reliable and a nice guy to boot. I've got nothing by compliments for S&B. Yes, they are expensive, but you get quality work done on time. read more

I called to ask how to get my hot water heater turned on since my power has been out from the hurricane and Steve stayed with me on the phone and walked me through all the steps! It was an excellent help and I would defiantly recommend S&B plumbing!! Ask for steve very accommodating even over the phone! read more

I had a sewer pipe that need to be fixed. Called S&B last Thursday morning and the girl at the office said Steve is on a job and will call you by the afternoon. I never heard back. I called Friday morning and got their voicemail and left a message. No call back again. It is now Tuesday and I gave up and called another plumber. If they couldn't do the job or didn't want the job a call back would of been professional. read more

Great experience. I heard back from Steve right away, he was able to come out and fix the problem. He took the time to explain everything to me. I 100% recommend. read more

We have been using S&B Plumbing for over 10 years and Steve is the best! He is honest, ethical and extremely efficient. I read some of the other reviews and one of the reasons they can be hard to reach is that they have so much work. If the job can wait then S&B is worth the wait! read more

Called them for a simple parts question, not even a service call. The woman who answered was friendly and helpful, and referred me to a parts supply place in town, and even gave me there number and told me to speak to the owners. As luck would have it, the parts supply place even happened to be on the same street as my condo. read more

The service from S&B is inconsistant but always very expensive. Over the years they have replaced plumbing pieces because of leaks for two separate issues. One is still leaking the other fixed. They replaced pipes under a sink that 5 months later leaked. They serviced my heating system and did great work. If Steve does the work it is always high quality. The other people who work for him do not have his skills and are sometimes, at best, acceptable. read more

Excellent service. Steve really knows his stuff and acts with integrity and honesty. I know people who have been turning to him for over 10 years. He's a good guy and does a thorough job. Best plumber I've encountered. read more

I called them to repair a constant leak in my bathroom tub & a drip from my bathroom sink faucet. The plumber that came to do the work said he was only able to saw off the shower faucet and replace. The handle now jiggles on the replacement part, but he did do the job. However, the sink went from dripping every 21 seconds, to 14, to now at least every second. I called them when I noticed how much the frequency had increased, and they sent the same guy to look at it again. He said he replaced the washers and was not sure what it was - probably would need to replace the entire fixture. Have you ever heard of a plumber that cannot stop a leaky faucet? Further, the $300 bill I received did not breakdown parts, labor, and the individual jobs, which I find upsetting. I'd like to know how much I paid for the issue to not be resolved. Now that I have a constant drip, I got replacement parts from the manufacturer. I have called and left three messages with no returned call. Guess I need to find someone else and throw more money at this. read more

For 6 months I called the office asking for Steve to provide a quote for a substantial job and not once did I receive a response back.

I would highly recommend S&B Plumbing in Hoboken. We woke up to a flooded bathroom due to a broken water heater (thank you, Friday the 13th!). Steve was at my apartment by 11:30AM to provide an estimate. Two men came shortly after to install a brand new 50 gallon unit and were completely finished by 4:00PM. The two men who did the removal and installation were very nice, respectful, and clean! They even had to hike up and down 5 flights of stairs and not once complained. Steve arrived towards the end to verify the completion of the work and manage the payments, which was very professional. The entire team was very thorough and very kind. Thank you, S&B!! read more

If you want to deal with a company that you have to constantly call to make an appointment and to get a plumber, then this is the company for you. Seems like they didn't want my business/didn't want to work since they didn't return phone calls. Waste of time. read more

Called S&B out to get a second estimate on replacing a drain stop after Dependable Plumbing told me waste and overflow was irreparable and I needed to open an access whole (total estimate $1200). S&B came out and told me that it was possible that they might need to do the same thing but quoted me max of $700 and also said he'd try another avenue first. He was able to find a part and fix in 5 mins and total cost was under $200. There should be more honest people out there like these guys. Highly recommend. read more

Initially I received a good response, as I expected from the 1 review on here, as well as the lack of any bad reviews on other sights. Sam did a walk through for a quote on Friday of last week (It's now wednesday). I have yet to receive any word from him/them, and get no information from their secretary either. This is a small job and should have been very quick and easy to put together a quote. Not pleased whatsoever. read more

I agree with the above poster. They don't seem to want the business. I have called 3 or 4 times since Friday and when they finally got back to me with a time it one that didn't work for me - and instead of trying to figure something out while on the phone - all I got was "that's they appointment time, someone will call you back". I called another plumber and they already came today. read more

Great company. I've used them twice and the service has always been prompt and excellent. Both times I've dealt with Steve, the owner's son. They replaced my water heater for a reasonable price and also fixed my kitchen sink which had a leak fro a corroded pipe. They were the only shop in town that sent someone over quickly., thus averting disaster in both cases. The others couldn't see me for a day or more. Their prices are in line with what I expected and above all they are honest. read more

I've used Steve at S&B many times over the years, lots of great work by a great guy. Reliable, honest, can't say enough about them. Highly recommended. read more

I had the same experience as a few other reviewers it seems. I called to make an appointment for an estimate, and the woman said that they would call me back to schedule. That was a week ago. Called again today to follow up and she said "well it's on his schedule to call you. If you can't wait then you should go somewhere else." It was not only extremely rude, but I think waiting a week to just SCHEDULE an estimate is completely unacceptable. Thank you- I will go somewhere else and hope others do too. read more
