I recently had my gas water heater replaced through PSE&G and they sent Guarini Plumbing to do the work. I had an overall positive experience and would definitely recommend this company. They showed up on the scheduled date/time and the price I was quoted was what I was charged. They had to replace an additional pipe that connects to the chimney (which cost me an extra $200+) but another company had also informed I would need to do that so I was ok with it. The installation guys were friendly and the work was completed in less than an hour. A few hours later I noticed some dripping from the pipe attached to the relief valve which stopped on its own. The next morning I noticed some additional drips and since I didn't know that was normal I contacted Guarini and they scheduled someone to come between 1pm and 4pm the same day. At 4:30pm no one had shown up so I called them once again and later the same evening 2 different guys showed up. They checked and stated that things were good. They replaced the pipe with a longer one pointing directly in the drain pain (which should have been done initially. The old pipe was short and was dripping outside the pan). Since then things have been ok, I've been monitoring daily and I don't see additional dripping. In summary, there are some things that can be improved but overall I was happy with the work. read more

This company arrived at 4pm the next day with 2 techs and within 90 minutes they drained, removed and installed a new water heater and cleaned around the old heater. The ventilation pipe needed to be replaced along with a new gas shutoff and ball valve for water line. They did a fantastic job and I'd recommend them in a NY minute! Excellent!! read more

Really top notch service! I own a home in jersey city and unfortunately had a lead water line and a collapsed clay tile sewer line. This was a big job considering the sewer line was 10 ft. deep. I am a Worry-Free customer through my local utility. On Saturday morning (Sept 7) I noticed water leaking from my hot water heater. I called the utility company to get a new unit installed. They put me in contact with Guarini Plumbing. Unfortunately I had to wait through the weekend until I would hear from Guarini to schedule the installation. They called around 7 AM Monday morning to say they were available later that day if I was. I was! They gave me a two hour appointment window. Two gentlemen arrived after 30 minutes of the window opening. The gentleman were knowledgeable, pleasant and well skilled. They reviewed the steps they would take, asked for my permission to change some water valves (which I was going to request, they beat me to it!); checked my chimney for exhaust safety and got to work. For a job involving water and soldering, they left the site clean and dry. They gave me a very thorough run through on the operation of the water heater control panel and they were on their way. Made the mistake of attempting to replace my hot water heater with PSE&G who unfortunately subcontracts Guarini in my area Hackensack to do the install. They come out the day of, and found my vent piping to not be up to code. From there they offer no resolution, they just want to high tail it out of your house, I practically begged them to discuss alternatives to no avail. I called the office and they wanted $195 an hour just to discuss the venting. I ended up without hot water for 3 days before I scrapped the PSE&G idea and called a reputable plumber that did an amazing job for a fraction of what these clowns wanted. We had a broken shower control handle and we were able to call and get a plumber the day of which was great but the plumber then called and was complaining that he won't be able to make it that day and I really wasn't sure what I was supposed to do about that, I guess he should of called the office to talk to his dispatcher but he ended up coming anyway. He sees the shower control and asked who did this, it was my father's earlier mistake while he was adjusting something but I don't know why that matters. Then while he was working on the upstairs bathroom he called my father downstairs to turn the water on. Since the water is off in the house he turned the water main on assuming he's done with whatever he has to do. The plumber starts yelling that the water is spraying and to turn the main off again. He wasn't finished and he starts arguing and says that he told us that he said the water faucet specifically I was in my bedroom next to the bathroom and I all I heard him say was turn the water on so not sure if he misspoke. Could of just said to open the faucet downstairs to purge the air. Then he said he's going to take a break to dry off and he starts complaining on a call to someone in Spanish about us. Eventually got the job done so idk weird experience. Good if you're trying to get a plumber quickly, communication and professionalism is not there. read more

If you see my prior review for A&D plumbing in Hoboken, you'll notice that I spent about a week trying to reach them so that they could (make money off of me!! and) fix the leak in my shower. They never returned my calls. After speaking with my management company on Monday, 3/1/10 I was told to call Mr. Guarini's office. They were incredibly accommodating and came THAT afternoon. The 2 men who came did a great job and the leak is gone. Like all plumbers/contractors it's a good thing I planned on cleaning after they were here since things in and around the bathroom will always getting dirty, but I guess that's par for the course. I think the charge was around $125+tax for 1 hour which to me is a hell of a lot but it seems like most plumbers charge around $100 or so, so it's not much more than normal. They were great. I live in a 6 Unit Condo Building and we needed to replace 4 heaters this week. Great prices. Jeff and Fred came in with their crew and installed three NYE morning. The fourth was scheduled for 1/2/15. They worked fast and efficient. Super friendly and played some real good music. :) Explained everything and walked us through every step. Best part- our hot waters lines are all mislabeled and seem to connect to multiple units. They helped us track down which hot water heaters connected to which units. There was a problem somewhere inside our toilet which caused a leak in the apartment below us. Ah, the joys of home ownership. I looked around Yelp and Angie's list and decided to call William J. Guarini plumbing to help us identify and fix the issue. I spoke with Linda and after asking me a list of specific questions she told me they could have someone out to look at it the very next day. She clearly outlined the cost per hour ($165) and that it would be plus tax plus materials. The two gentlemen, Roig and Manny, arrived exactly on time and with tools they may need. They looked in our unit and the unit below and quickly identified that we needed a new wax seal. The issue was identified, repaired neatly and fully operational within one hour. Roig and Manny were incredibly friendly, efficient, and neat. Plumbing issues come up sometimes and it is great to know there are prompt, reliable plumbers out there to quickly resolve the issue. Horrible plumbing, PSEG dispatched them to do an emergency service. When they arrived they found out the unit was under warranty and refused to replace it or call PSEG. They would not wait for me to call PSEG they simply left stating I would need to pay an additional $2,100. First of all a brand new tank is $1,000 I already was paying $575 + $42 for the service and permit to PSEG. Make sure you call around before replacing a water heater. Mine was under warranty they would not honor if it was out of warranty others were charging much less below $2,000. Make sure you call the manufacturer to verify the warranty before this company comes they will not wait for you to make a call even if it is an emergency repair. On top of all this as I explained to them PSEG does the billing not you so why are you asking for an additional $2,100 to be paid to you directly and not willing to call PSEG. read more

These plumbers came to the house and misdiagnosed the problem. Later that same day I had the same problem, so I had another plumber come because I didn't think Pat and Pat Jnr analysis of the problem was right. The other plumber pinpointed the issue immediately. I contacted Guarini the following day and told them about the misdiagnosis and resolution, they apologized and said they would not be charging me for the service. Five weeks later I received a bill from them. This time, Linda and supervisor Robert insisted I had to pay, that they had no record of the conversation that took place the day after the service. Predator Company charged me for nothing. Charged a fee of $264.52 to come out and look at my furnace after it stop working after I had a water heater replaced by PSEG. I thought water may have mixed with my oil I called the company back out to find out what was going on. This is the only number I had on the invoice thinking this would be apart of the Job done by PSEG it was not. The guy goes down stairs in my basement looks at my water heater, next furnace then tells me I need oil. Did absolutely nothing then charged a fee of $264.52. When I ask to speak to his supervisor he told me that his supervisor would not answer the phone. SCAM I will never call them again anything especially if it has anything to do with a PSEG issue! They should let you know in advance that you will be charged outside of PSEG agreement! read more
