I was starving when we stopped here for a bathroom break. It appeared they had a made to order counter for food so I placed an order on the kiosk and went to the bathroom while it was being made. I ordered a veggie sub that included cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, Chesapeake seasoning and sauce, mayo, and garlic aioli. I ordered extra sides of garlic aioli and Chesapeake sauce. The fries looked good so I ordered those as well because they were wedges. It has been a while since I had that style. The food was ready by the time I left the bathroom. I grabbed the food, paid for it on a kiosk, and went back to the car to eat. Hubs went to use the restroom and grab a coffee. When I started to go through the bag, I realized no sauces were in the bag and sandwich looked less appealing than a prison sandwich. Hubs went back in for me to get the sauces and I was given ranch instead of garlic aioli but the Chesapeake sauce was correct. The food was just not worth the price or the carbs. I was no longer hungry but also still craving an empty satisfaction. This was the first place we came across after driving for a while with no civilization in sight. Next time, I will be searching for other options if I am in the same predicament. Maybe I went on an off day or maybe they are known for other foods. They are similar to the concept of Wawa but nowhere near the quality. read more

Got a couple of chicken sandwiches yesterday and it appears that RF has gotten rid of that myriad of toppings that I raved about in previous reviews. Banana peppers is all. No jalapenos and none of the rest. **sad face** My daughter and I weren't happy but the sandwiches were still good. The dichotomous thing about RF - and to its credit is this: Is it a fast food restaurant that sells gas, or is it a gas station that sells food, lol? Since I've only bought gas from them one time and that was the first time - I vote the former. I bought her two chicken wraps (2 different flavors) to take back to school with her, and I bought one for myself to try. I don't even really like wraps, but they looked/smelled so good! Packed full of chicken and ingredients, mine (chicken caesar) was really delicious and I only ate half and was completely full. I'm not really a "gas station food guy" but if you got to eat food from a gas station, RF is it. Hands down. Forget about Sheetz and WaWa. Highs isn't bad. Royal Farms is it though. It may even be a first choice over some "regular" fast food joints in some instances. The food is that kinda good. read more

Typical Royal Farms always stocked with whatever I need/desire. Stopped in for some Advil, walked out with hot fried chicken, tea, cookies, and bbq corn chips.....but no Advil! Lol. Back in I go! Bathroom was very clean, shelves stocked well. I'll stop here again on the way home! 3 stars for service, cleanliness , etc. plus star is because they have bbq corn chips!!!! read more

When we came here to refill on gas, I spied some fried chicken on sale. I got a three-piece chicken tender with wedges for $5 and a medium order of wedges for $2. The food isn't made fresh to order and was greasy. However, it was tasty and not bad in a pinch. read more

Hey everyone...guess it's time for a more up to date Royal Farms review. It's been awhile for this gas station. So hears my experience. Bonnie is very rude. I just wanted to put that out there. The attitudes at this Royal Farms has not changed since the reviews from 2017. I have come here every morning for the past two weeks only because I really do like their chicken. The chicken pretty much has everything to do with my two stars. The toilet for at least 5 days has looked exactly the same in the men's bathroom. No one obviously cleans it. Ugh I forget the ladies name in the morning time that makes my chicken...she ALWAYS has an attitude. Please don't ever have a question...BOOM! LOL I love Middletown but if it wasn't for my love for Royal Farms chicken, I would just go to the very friendly, as always, Wawa down the street. read more

This is a nice enough Royal Farms, but it's hard getting in and out of the parking lot. I don't see why the entrance off of 301 can't be an exit as well. We have to go out the other entrance/exit, make a right and then go do a U-turn or turn around in the parking lot down the street. It just doesn't make any sense. At all. read more

Recently read something saying that Royal Farms had the best convenience fried chicken, so I thought I'd stop to give it a try. Not such a good idea as it was overpriced and not worth the stop. We were initially going to order from one of the Newark locations since that was where the party was. However, neither of those places answered the phone! we tried for an hour! It just rang! My husband and I decided to try the new fried chicken sandwich, since we happen to believe Royal Farms makes the BEST fried chicken ever. However, we were sadly disappointed. The only part of the sandwich we were happy with was the garlic aioli which was surprisingly good. Not even sure what piece of chicken was on the sandwich--part of it was dark meat and part was light. My fault, I guess, for assuming it would be a chicken breast. Also, it is about half the size of the McDonald's crispy buttermilk chicken sandwich and Popeye's chicken sandwich (and not nearly as good). Ordered fries chicken , Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes and gravy. The Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes were ice cold and being microwaved. Gross. Asked for a refund. Manager was a little snippy and told me it came out of the fridge not freezer. Wow. That made all the difference. Sigh. read more

Stop here often for gas and windshield washer buckets are always bone dry. When I mentioned it to the manager she looked dismayed and said trying to get the lines down and have not had the time to go out there yet, it was 12:21PM. Would be helpful to fill the buckets in the morning. read more
