Save yourself the time and stomach ache. I walked out before even receiving my food. Floors were filthy. Every step I took I stuck to the floor. No one cares in there. 2 out of three registers down just need an employee to void a transaction. I ask the blonde lady if they take cash since the one working register only was accepting credit cards and she barks back at me "obviously I take the cash at this register". Then proceeds to take the man who just walked in after me. Will no doubt never return to this poorly managed and run business again. 2 1/2 stars would be more accurate. As much as I loved this place, their consistency is next to none. This is specifically in regards to the chicken, one of the main reasons people come to Royal Farms. The week after grand opening was fantastic, fresh, juicy chicken tenders, large enough to eat 2 and be full. Now many months later, the chicken sits under a heat lamp drying for far too long and the piece sizes are pathetic at best. The spicy chicken was so dry it's like it was filled with sawdust. On a positive note, the employees are the greatest and seem to be hustling and trying their hardest, however management needs to talk about the quality and size of the chicken and to work on consistency. This place went down hill fast. The chicken from my sandwhich was cold and so were the fries. The fries were just completely inedible. For 11 bucks, I'll go to chic fil a. Never again. I actually had to come back and redo my post. After a few bites of the chicken sandwhich, I realized there was 2 tenders. The first one sucked, but the second one was actually inedible. Super dry and had a weird smell, like as if it was microwaved multiple times or something. Aside from getting food poisoning from sushi once, I've never felt so sick after eating this. Not one to complain so the few I got are worth listening too. I let the first few screw ups go but three times was the final straw...... first off always the same order three piece white with western fries..... first two two times I received a two piece of chicken and one with fries one with potato salad... wrong but whatever no big deal..... starving on the final occasion and all I received was the chicken no fries. I don't understand how a place that just opened could be pathetically bad at serving chicken when the signature item is.... Chicken. Their motto is built on chicken and it took over an hour to get chicken.... From a Gas station. Not even a restaurant lol. A continued part of their motto is "real good, real fast" and it was neither. Have been waiting for it to open and finally stopped to pick up some of their chicken that I heard so much about. Very disappointing, chicken was not nearly as good as Chic Fil A. Went in with my sister having heard about the chicken. We were shocked how dirty it was inside and out, since it hasn't been open too long. We ordered family meals to take home on the kiosk. They handed us all of our containers separately to carry, which was almost impossible. Price of chicken was ridiculous and was like your local grocery store fried chicken. Not a fan. Went to RF for the 1st, and last, time tonight. Interior smelled of stale frying oil and there were a few annoyed people already waiting. Counter-kid decided to tell a customer that it would be 20 minutes until they "had chicken" ready. Strike 1. A couple people were annoyed about the wait and lack of service. Strike 2. Had to order at a separate touch screen than the self-pay, aka-unmanned, kiosk. Why not be able to do both at one? Went to get ice in our cup for the soda, and there was no ice...in either machine. Strike 3. We asked the counter-kid to cancel our order and were told we have to go to the "counter" to cancel. Problem is, no one there even monitoring the self-pay area. So, slip left on the counter and left. Will never return for food OR fuel. Wouldn't trust anything from the pumps either. Drove 10 minutes to KFC. Ordered pretty much the same kind of food, bowl, tenders, etc., we were in the drive-thru for 4-5 minutes tops. Service was solid and food was $20 compared to the $29 that Royal Disappointment wanted. Don't waste your time. There was a reason they never opened the several times they said they were. I've been to some other locations near me in south Jersey, and I had to stop in to see the store everyone was talking about. First off, I gotta hand it to the employees. They are trying their hardest, and the nastiness they receive from their own community is disgusting. Everyone coming in tries comparing them to a McDonald's or Chick-fil-A.... I spoke to the manager and he explained some of the process... it takes 20+ minutes to cook 32 pieces of chicken. They can't cook it faster, it'll come out raw and unedible. So sure, when you have a crowd where everyone wants the same new specials (13 pieces I think?), there's gonna be a wait. The other thing is the tenders are huge! Try comparing those to the competitors. I'm a big guy, but I was full after just the two piece meal. I get people have families, and everyone is hungry, but where's the sense or community and compassion? When I lived down the shore 20-some odd years ago it was never like this... people were kind and helpful. But now? Forget about it! I feel awful for those employees, I'd hate having to serve such nasty people all day. If you want precooked garbage, goto McDonald's. You want freshly cooked chicken, come here, accept the wait, and be happy (not sarcastic) when your order is ready. You wouldn't want to be treated the way they are, so pass it forward, and be nice. Working and living in the Brick, NJ area, I've driven past this store for the past several years waiting for it to open. Some employees where I work raved about their chicken so I waited about a week after it first opened to try it out and I couldn't have been more disappointed. The first time I went it was an ordering fiasco and I just chalked it up to being new. The second time I went, the fountain soda machines weren't working and I overheard the conversation behind the counter that it would be 20 minutes for fries so I just walked out and went elsewhere. The last time I went, the chicken breast I ordered had no breading and it was just a piece of fried meat and the fries were a soggy lump of bland tasting nothingness. Along with that, I paid for but did not receive a biscuit that I added. I'm 0 for 3 with Royal Farms and this time they struck out - I will not be returning. There are many better places in the area for chicken. They claim to serve world famous chicken and they are greatly missing that mark. read more
