The service was great. They looked up the price in the catalog and told me the value on the spot. Dwight was very pleasant to work with.

Took my old coins in and they gave me a very fair price. The person I dealt with seemed very knowledgeable and I felt I was treated fairly, went to another place and did not get a positive response. read more

Helpful and knowledgeable about the coin markets. When I went in overhead the owner say "Bring in your coin and evaluate for no charge as the man had complained about another place that was going to charge for his opinion of the coin. The other customer was with his kids making coin books - nice wholesome place! read more

Took my coin collection to have appraised and sell. Great experience! Not only did Mr. Sonny appraise my coins, he also took the time to help me understand the coins and values. Great customer service that's hard to find these days. I recommend Royal Coins to anyone interested in learning about their collection. read more

I go hear to sell coins. I am not a numismatist. My Mom had saved silver coins and old coins since I was a kid. When those coins became mine I decided to sell some. I needed a place I could trust to give me the best advice on what to sell and what might be better kept for a better price later or might be something to pass along as inheritance to my kids. I chose Royal Coins. Why? 1) Mom and pop spot 2) Not huge and impersonal. There's just a couple guys up front who sit down with you and gently handle your loot. 3) They show you all the exchange rates for the silver I am selling. Even tell me when that price is up or down for that day and why. 4) They will pay me in cash or check. 5) It feels safe and friendly. There are a lot of coin buyers in town. You can even sell them online. But I am not sending my coins away in the mail and waiting for some check to show up. I want to go in and sit across from someone who has done this for more than a couple months. I like being able to pull right up to the front of the store and being rung in at the door. I like knowing that they treat me like I am buying or selling millions in coinage. Sometimes all it takes is just treating people like they matter that make them bring their business back. I still have several trips to make before I dispose of the last of the coins I want. read more

I recommended this place to a friend (who's not on yelp). They didn't have a problem selling a gold coin on a Saturday. They were nice and polite. They were also nice and polite when I called for a price quote. If you are selling: * They give you a check if they run out of cash. So it helps to show up early if you want cash instead of a check. * Bring a photo I.D. * They are open Tues-Saturdays. (Mondays are by appointment only.) read more

Outstanding customer service! Very friendly, extremely knowledgeable, great prices & selection! I found them on Instagram and they always reply very quickly. I used to buy coins from the Coin Vault and other TV shows, but this place kills them with prices & customer service. Simple, smooth, and trustworthy transactions every time. Definitely earned a loyal customer in me. read more

These people are a little geeky but what can you expect from coin collectors. They are experienced collectors that deal in coins and rare metals. They helped me identify 9 fake gold coins that fooled my mother and 2 other collectors. I got some great deals here on silver. After calling around they were the cheapest in town for silver. They have a good display of old coin collection domestic and international. They also trade gold and silver bullions with is with cash only. read more

Royal Coin is a reputable coin dealer with grading services as well as being a precious metal buying and selling facility. They have a friendly staff, a pleasant shop, and fair prices. I've been to (almost) every coin shop in Houston (and the surrounding area) several times and spent plenty of money, but I've spent the most time and gotten the best deals by far at Royal Coin. read more

This place used to be a fair and honest place to do business with but ever since the young men who took over the jobs of the older men who used to work at Royal Coin is not the same. Honestly today I tried to sell back a few coins that I bought from them a few years back and the young men working there offered me only face value for coins I paid much more for. This act alone made me feel as if I was sold fools gold and when I wanted to sale it back to the ones I purchased it from, they laughed in my face. If u are used to doing business there and haven't been there in a while.....take my word for it ..... this place is not the same. read more

I came here looking for a silver coin as a salute for naval commissioning ceremony. I wasn't sure what to get, and the owner asked me what is it for. I told him, and he gave me for free with the box as well! I am so grateful for their kind-hearted. Dwight helped me out as well, beside the owner (I supposed he is the owner). Thank you! I'm absolutely coming back to this place :) read more

I was hesitant to sell my gold and silver items as I had never done so before but Lewis and his colleague made it a smooth experience. They were friendly, knowledgeable and fair. They even suggested I take one of my rings to a jeweler as they suspected it was worth more with its precious stones than they could offer for the gold alone. read more

One of the friendliest and unpretentious coins shops I've been to in the U.S. Ask as many questions as you need with a great staff who will explain in easy to understand language and who will make sure you get a good deal. read more

This place is awesome I can't believe they gave me so much for my buffalo nickel I wish I could give more than five stars asked for Blake

Shop around and check prices with other stores. I've sold coins to them in the past and felt what they paid me was a bit low, but fair. In the past, I never got a great vibe when I was there, maybe because I'm a woman and they could take advantage of my naïveté. Yesterday I brought in gold to sell, and their offer was 30% lower than Jonathan's Fine Jewelry. It was so much lower that I was stunned, and asked him to run his calculations again. Then he went and had the manager confirm his offer and he said it was a good offer for me. Not so much! I won't be back. Reducing the pay out by that much is too greedy. I won't do business with anyone that is trying to take advantage of me as the customer. I realize they need to make a profit, but their offer was a rip off. read more

I had amassed a large coin collection when we cleaned out my parents' home and that of another elderly family member. I asked a well respected estate sale company where to take the coins as we wanted to sell them. She told me there was only one place to go - Royal Coins! When I mentioned this to my father he said he had shopped there in the past. My husband and I went this week and Dwight spent over two hours with us valuing our coins. Just as we were told, the staff are honest and extremely knowledgeable. They exceeded our expectations and the cash we earned was an added bonus! read more

This is how you do business. I needed a sixpence for my wife-to-be ("something old, new, borrowed, blue, and a sixpence in your shoe." Never heard that last part?? Neither had I before this week LOL) so I was calling around looking for one. The price sounded right at Royal Coin so I stopped in. Either the owner or the manager -- his name is Dwight -- greeted me and asked how he could help me. I identified myself as the guy looking for a sixpence. He said, "are you getting married, by chance?" I said yes. He shook my hand, said congratulations, and gave me the coin at *no charge* along with his business card. THAT is how you do business and gain a customer for life. read more

Great inventory, great service, great prices! Purchased some proof gold commemorative coins just over spot! Every other dealer in Houston had huge markups over spot on these same coins. Royal, you have a life long customer! Thanks! read more

This place offered me the most money for my coins. I went to every coin shop in Houston. Some shops were low ball'ers, some just rude, but Royal Coins was friendly, honest and up front. They did not pressure me at all to sell. Anyhow, I did sell my coins to them and while I was there I found out they also bought used jewelry. I went home and gathered up some old gold and silver jewelry that was just collecting dust and brought it Royal Coins. They tested and weighed my jewelry in front of me and offered a cash price. Right then I called several other 'gold buying' shops and no one came close to what Royal Coins offered! Thanks for the extra money guys! read more

Horrible customer service! As a loyal customer of over 20 years I cannot believe the recent treatment I received. A couple weeks ago, I asked to look through 90% silver to buy some old halves (sliders). The clerk said it was against store policy to let me look through them because someone in the past had stolen a couple. I reminded him that I have been a long time customer and assured him that I would not steal from him . He agreed to let me look them over and purchase some. Mind you, these are worn out coins worth a bit more than melt. We're not talking gold or rare coins. This past weekend (4/27/13), I went back to buy more and apparently ran into what I presume to be the head guy / owner. When I asked if I could look at the 90% coins again, he flatly refused stating company policy and that someone had stolen from him. I told him that I was not going to steal from him, but he again said "NO". He added, "if we lose 2 or 3 customers over this policy, that's ok". At that point, I decided after 20+ years, Royal Coins and I would NEVER again do business. There are many coin dealers in Houston that treat long time customers with respect and actually appreciate their business. read more
