If he can't do what you want then trust me he can't do it. But I have been pleased through the years with good deals on some nice jewelry. I hate paying retail in Galleria Mall. I'd rather come check out the deals here. This is a very secure store. You are very safe inside. The cases are well lit and they will be happy to hand you anything you want to inspect closer. They always clean the items I buy and give me a nice box. For the first time in a decade I brought my wife here today and i could see the gleam in her eye for a nice blingy ring. I could also see she was afraid about the money so I made sure to hurry the deal up before she could refuse. Guess what. She couldn't stop smiling all the way home looking at that ring! Happy birthday. Now what I mean about this being a Guy's store for Guys buying jewelry is I doubt I've spent more than 15 min total in this store at any one time. I go in. Quickly scan. Ask to look at one or two items. Haggle the price. Hand them my credit card to get airline points and next thing you know I'm out the door. They accommodate a guy's need to hurry it along. I hate shopping. I go in to BUY and not shop. PS - a wonderful female friend coworker is how I found this place 10 yrs ago. She said "you ever been there? No! Are you nuts? Guess I've been dropping in for around five years now. Here you'll find estate type jewelry along with a good selection of pre-owned watches such as Rolex, Tag Heuer, and Tudor. Watches at least Rolex are sold with a warranty! Adjustments such as links adding or removal are done on site so you can wear your new wrist candy out the door. My purchases have ranged from a $100 all the way to $5,000. Staff has varied over the years yet Victor seems to be a constant in recent memory. His customer service is quite attentive and he will haggle within reason. Took home something I've always wanted a few weekends ago at a good price. See yall next trip!

The employee seemed honest and transparent, but I was disappointed that Tony wasn't present. The employee began testing and weighing the silverware. Tony's wife, no name was given, showed up later; saying that she and Tony are co-owners. The behavior and actions that made me increasingly uncomfortable included: 1. Tony was supposedly sick and and took all of the weights and did all of the calculations via phone or Facetime while his wife was constantly pushing to get it done, 2. The first batches of silver were weighed in ounces and the remaining were weighed in grams, so it was hard more me to keep track of the actual totals, 3. None of the calculations done by Tony were ever visible, so I had to take his word for it, 4. Tony said that he used 1/3 of an ounce of silver for each knife and while Google isn't perfect, they said that the average was about 1/2 ounces per knife (I didn't know this till after the fact), 5. Tony's totals were 4,700 grams of silver and 350 grams estimated for the knives, but this was rounded down to 5,000 grams, 6. They made an offer based on the lower weight (again, no transparency on the method), 7. When I pointed out that a box of silver had not been weighed, Tony's wife blustered that it had all been weighed, when in fact, it had not (the employee confirmed that it had not been weighed). I was completely done at this point. I left the store with my silver, never to come back again. Due to the lack of transparency and the behavior of the co-owners, I do not trust this business to be honest. They offered $5,000 for everything. My calculations, using actual weight of Sterling Silver and small quantities of lesser amount of silver: Spot price $69.1/Oz, less 10% margin, $62.19/Oz net and at 28.35 grams per Oz, this net price is $2.19/gram. Weight at home was 8,242 grams, 42 resin filled handle knives and pie servers estimated 624 grams, total including estimate 8,866 grams, but multiply by 92% (Sterling is 92.5% silver) to account for some silver being less than 93%, which equals 8,156 silver grams. Multiply 8,153 silver grams by $2.19/gram spot price, net of margin, and you get $17,861. This did not count the box of silver that was not weighed in the store. You don't have to be a math genius to figure out that everything Hillcroft Gold Buyers did was a sham. You can't rely upon the Google reviews as only customers who sold gold or silver to the business are included in their Google reviews and a potential sale that backed out due to warning signs was not.

Today, I found Estate Watch & Jewelry Buyers (AKA Houston Gold Buyers) online and the reviews seemed better. I went here first with two others I never needed. This 35+ year business is run by a father-daughter team. Very small and friendly. They have a machine that scans for gold or silver content and will also indicate gold plate, copper, etc. Everything seemed very fair. They have to make a profit so don't expect full gold value, etc. I sold a small gold coin and 3 rings and was paid with cash. They do thumbprints, pictures and ID checks. The attitudes we get everytime we're here is astonishing. Especially from Gigi - who was the original sales person. It's ridiculous. Everytime we've come in since original purchase is we're told there was no original purchase even though the original sales person remembers. Their system can't find the order. Then can magically find some details under my name which makes no sense because it was a surprise engagement. My ring got resized recently (my husband was told at sales time lifetime resizing - but they declined this and advised it was full price. They eventually wavered and gave it to us at no cost which I did appreciate) and I realized after a few days I picked it up that there was a massive gap on one side that I hand noticed before. So I brought it back in. Of course I get an attitude about it. The First lady told me that it was my fault there was a chip on it. Then she took it to the jeweler who stated he's NEVER touched my ring ever in his life. Again, we bought it here, have had it resized once before this resuzing and then it had been resized a week prior to this interaction. Long story short - Mary (who is the most helpful person in this store) said she would take care of it. Would be completely redone. They called us and let us know it was completed. All better. I go in and it's almost exactly the same. Barely any different at all. They take us back to the jeweler who tells us that it's the head is crooked and the only way to resolve would be to get a whole new head. At their expense. Great, let's get this taken care of. I even at this point offered another solution where we would take on some of the cost and maybe upgrade the ring. We were told we would get a quote by the end of the day. We left again and less than 2-3 hours later we get a text with a video sayings it's completely fixed and resolved and we can come pick up the ring. No quote. Here we are again, at the store right now and it's still imperfect which I'm just at this point going to settle for because I'm so massively over this place and the customer service we've received. Never ever again.
