I absolutely would not recommend using Royal Coat of New Bern. Although the company provides and acceptable product and service, their customer support after the sale is abysmal.
We contracted for a patio and sidewalk to be covered and stamped with a design. John, the owner was the one that completed the job. The first 18 months, everything was great. At the 18 month point, the coating on one section of concrete failed. On that section the material was peeling, bubbling, and breaking loose.
Something was not right so we attempted to contact Royal Coat New Bern via phone leaving messages and asking for someone to call us back to discuss the problem. We never received any calls. We called again and finally got a woman on the line who promised we'd get a call from them. After about a month of no contact, I went to their booth at a home show and explained the situation to the representatives in person. Trey and his partner at the show seemed surprised that we hadn't received any calls and promised to discuss it with their team before getting back with us.
About seven weeks later, Trey and another employee did show up at our house and inspected the failed section. We jointly agreed that the section that had failed was potentially the result of the composition of the original concrete as the epoxy material they use was still adhering to the concrete chips, while the concrete itself was breaking off. I was quite explicit that my interest was in fixing the section so that at least the patio could be returned to a usable condition. Trey said he would discuss this with the team and get back to us with a plan.
It's now been two months since their inspection visit and we've received no contact. It's clear the company has no interest in fixing the mess I now have. From the time I first tried to contact Royal Coat of New Bern, we've given them ample opportunity to do the right thing by their customer. Six months later, with no contact, and a nasty mess on our hands leaves me disappointed in the company, the product, and their unwillingness to work with me to fix a problem. read more
