From what I'm told brown gravy as a dipping sauce is a staple in Filipino culture. I ordered the adobo rice and spaghetti for my side dishes. The rice was great the spaghetti will have to grow on me. The sauce was different and it had slices of hot dogs or some type of sausage in it. It wasn't offensive, it was just different.
