This is the worst cab service ever. The drivers are great but the dispatcher, especially the one sounding near asleep, is the absolute worst! There is no reason why the lame ass lazy dispatcher can't know where the cabs are in the city to provide an estimated pickup time. This is why we so need Uber or Lyft to take over! read more

spoke to the lady on the phone, and she had a horrible attitude and was extremely unhelpful. Even a simple matter of asking how long it will take to get the ride was abhorrent and if possible avoid this service. We are not obliged to use your service but a simple matter of trying to get a ride was miserable. read more

Wow with so many poor reviews DUE TO THE DISPATCHER, either the dispatcher is the owner, or the owner needs to read the reviews! Wish we had read them before calling this company! Both taxi drivers we had were courteous and what you would expect for good service. But as reported by other reviewers, the dispatcher is rude, disrespectful and certainly no help to the calling customer......not to mention killing any return business! Once again, drivers are great, feel sorry they need to work with the dispatcher. We didn't know if we had other options for rides (Uber was long wait or wasn't operating) or we would have done so. ZERO stars for dispatcher, wish we could give five stars for drivers (particularly for putting up with dispatcher!), so gave this company a 2 so future customers will understand what they should expect. read more

I live in Portland and my son goes to Job corps in Astoria, every time he comes home he takes royal cab to the bus station. Every time I have called to book him a ride the gentleman that answers is always very nice and very helpful, they provide prompt service and my son has nothing but good things to say about the drivers he has had.... keep up the great work guys and as long as we need cab services we will always use Royal....thanks again!! read more

EXPENSIVE! I was asked for a tip before even being given my total price. Are all 20 min cab rides $60? Because that was the price charged to me before the tip. $4.50 charge for using card instead of cash. Also I'm not familiar with taking cabs frequently but it's a bit of a red flag if you tell the taxi where you're headed and he drives out of the airport and around for 5 minutes before asking you to put the address in his phone, so basically driving to charge more and delaying actually driving to the destination. I felt like I was scammed after I got this ride. Never again. The man was nice but obviously he had to be to hide that he was wasting time. read more

When you call they are rude, disrespectful, dismissive and just a real jerk. I have been hung-up on more than once. Its sad that this is really the only service in town. I would love to see the day that someone opens a new one and puts this place out of business. I would rather walk and get frostbite than call this place for a ride. I totally forgot my drivers name but after such a scary night I finally reached back out and I was greeted and most importantly felt safe when I got in Royal Cab. He got me to where I needed to get and made sure I was okay and was overall nice and such great positive attitude! Recommend by a coffee shop employee to get around Astoria and adjoining town, call answered in two rings. Employee quick with request and van arrived in reasonable time. Saw they are dispatched by tablet making it easy for drivers. I changed my destination while enroute and driver gave no negative reaction, actually told us what door of the Fred Meyer to use for clothing and then other for food. It is a taxi and rates are as expected, but ALWAYS use cash no matter where in the world you are!! Easy to pay, get change, tip and then go. Both drivers were friendly and got us to our destinations fast and right to the front door. I only had one day and two rides to experience, but no issues either way. read more

This cab company is a great way to get across town during a night of hardcore drinking. The drivers are conditioned to handle the most asinine requests and seem to be unaffected by whatever tomfoolery you throw at them. They can really roll with the punches. read more

If this app would let me select no stars, that's exactly what I would do!! I am sitting in a restaurant where a lady called for a cab over THREE hours ago. When the cab finally arrived, the woman driver started yelling at the lady to hurry up and get in. She told her that she was disabled and couldn't move very fast. She kept yelling at her to hurry up and finally told her to F$@& off and left her standing on the side of the street and drove off! I shit you not!!! I finally went outside and drove her home myself. She was an awesome lady with a disease that afflicts all of her joints. Most of which are titanium! The bitch that left her on the side of the road at 9:00 at night should be fired!!! I don't care what kind of a night she was having!! If you are in the people business, you just don't treat people that way!!!! 'Nuff said!!!! read more

I use Royal Cab quite frequently. They are usually Johnny on spot after calling. With that being said, you may wait quite awhile if you're on the peninsula. They occasionally will send a cab from Astoria on rare occasions. read more

The drivers are great but who ever dispatching only cares for money not people. I live in town on top of the hill so I always need rides to the doctors or middle school, it's only $5 for my short rides, so I've been left in the rain while bigger fairs were picked up before me and today my phone number wouldn't even get a answer from dispatch because I'm a $5 rider and not a $20 or more ride. I had to ride home from the ER in a gross shuttle that made me smell like a cigarette and pay more money just because Royal Cab doesn't think sick people deserve a nice short $5 ride. read more

We set up this service 2 days before our ship arrived in port. Carrie, our driver was waiting for us. She was very knowlegable about the local area and the history. We went to wine tasting in Seaside, Cannon Beach and Astoria and she dropped us back at the ship. What a great day!! I would definitely use them again. read more

Used to love this cab company, they had a wonderful dispatcher named Lee. He was always kind and honest. If my cab was going to be awhile he would tell me, for that he had my respect. Who ever is dispatching now laughs if you call a second time and tell him you are standing in the rain waiting. Today, with a high fever, I waited 40 minutes in the rain. Every time I called he told me I was up next- called every ten minutes and people working downtown were so concerned for me they called the cab company themselves. So the business owners downtown are watching the slow demise of Royal Cab. read more

Very unprofessional! I called and was told pick up in 15 min. Called again 30 min later and dispatch said another 15 min. Almost an hour later cab called said they would be another 20 min "if I still wanted cab". Called another company cause I refuse to give this company money! Horrible experience!! read more

I used this company for over a year. I was one of their regulars to be honest, knew most of the drivers by name. Matt for instance is an awesome cab driver with allot of heart and would be a boon to any company that would have him. Leon is a laid back comedian at the wheel, always with a bit of humor to throw your way. Debbie is a no nonsense morning shift driver who's very friendly but takes her job seriously, in the best of ways. The drivers are great, don't get me wrong, they don't deserve the backlash. Dispatch on the other hand, as well as the owner Travis, could care less. Wasn't always that way either, dispatch used to be good, it used to be professional, to the point I never had to interact with the owner at all, as it should be with a cab company. Then today came, I set up an appointment for pickup, doing my best to make it to an interview. I was trying to catch a bus out to Seaside so it was important that they be on time. the time came and went, I called back, was told yep they're on their way. At that point they were 10 minutes late, another 10 rolled by quick as could be before my driver showed up. She wasn't even aware mine was a timed appointment, only information she was sent by dispatch was my address. I had missed my bus, but still had an appointment to keep so I had to spend money I didn't have to get out there with the cab itself. So, for once I actually had a grievance, so I did what anyone would, I called the owner, Travis. Honestly I'm sorry I did, for the last year I've heard about this man second hand from people in the community. Not sure what I was expecting to be honest. The man proceeded to treat me like I was unimportant, he took calls while on the phone with me, could hear him talking to them as I waited seemingly in his other hand. My issue was shoved to the side like it didn't matter, he hung up on me even at one point, though called back. In the end he didn't even offer a simple apology for any of this, not so much as a sorry. I love the drivers of royal, but I'll not be treated like me or my regular business is meaningless by the owner himself, and so for that, I'll no longer be using Royal Cab. read more
