This is a nice thing to do if you happen to be in Astoria. The trolley starts outside the Maritime Museum and goes about a mile or so along the waterfront. The driver will let you know a little about the history of the trolley and the sights you will be seeing. This is authentic, so the seats are wooden and not very comfortable. However, the ride is not very long, so it's no big deal. Also, be forewarned, it's a high step up boarding and coming down as you deboard. So be careful, and don't be ashamed to ask for assistance.

Good to know: The trolley is cash only and they don't have the ability to make change. Dogs ARE ALLOWED. There is no size limit, but I have a lot of trouble imagining where our Rottweiler would fit A quick tour with a friendly, all-volunteer staff travels along the waterfront in one direction and then the other. The seat backs change sides so that no one has to ride backwards. This was great for our kids who often experience motion sickness. There are several covered trolley stops along the tracks and you can hop on at any one of them. Let the drivers know where you want to get off because empty stops are passed by unless they know someone wants to get off. There are stops at the Columbia River Maritime Museum and Pier 39, both of which are nice places to visit. For $2 per person you can ride the trolley all day and visit multiple places as long as you're willing to wait for the one and only trolley car. Check the trolley website and you can use gps to find its exact location so you can estimate your wait. We were able to park and get to a stop the moment the trolley arrived. We had been walking all over Astoria and our kids needed a break. This was the perfect way to rest their feet and keep them entertained at the same time. The tour guides were fun and engaging with lots of interesting facts about Astoria that we didn't know - and we've been visiting all our lives! We saw sea lions and a bald eagle along the route. The trolley slowed down and stopped in places for photos. While on the tour we learned about several new locations around Astoria that we wanted to visit. It enhanced our trip and the kids (15, 9, 7) are still talking about it.

For $1 per person you get about a 3 mile round trip ride along the waterfront in Astoria. We had 2 older men who hosted our ride, one was narrating and the other operating the trolley. He pointed out landmarks and interesting tidbits of the town, and gave us things to further explore when we were finished. Really a must do!

Look for the 5 limited spots for trolley parking in the paid parking lot corner ;)

$1 donation for a relaxing tour of Astoria in a historical trolley! Driver and guide volunteer their time to share their hometown inside scoop of history and quirky facts about the town. Multiple stops along the waterfront, hop on and off at stops only. Small "well-behaved" dogs are allowed at the discretion of the staff. *FREE four parking spots available on west end parking lot but it must have a trolley sign in front of it.

This is a restored 1900's trolley that runs up and down the old lines by the riverfront. Normally I'd mention some parking tips, but this line runs pretty much the whole stretch. Pretty much any place you find to park in Astoria will be within walking distance of this line. I'm kinda fond of the maritime museum lot as it's a museum what also has a stop right in front, but the pier 39 and/or the Hampton Inn parking is also a good spot. Whatever you do don't take up a spot that blocks the rails. You will be towed. Anywhoo this is considered a touristy thing as opposed to a functioning part of the transit system. Regardless of that the trolley will hit all the river side highlights you might be interested in seeing. The docents running the thing give out little tidbits on the history of the area which is nice and it passes by several breweries/pubs along with a couple of museums including and especially the aforementioned maritime museum. It costs a buck or two double that if you want hop on/off privileges. Theoretical schedule is every fifteen minutes or so but that is highly dependent on enough volunteers showing up to fully staff the trolley, and nobody blocking the lines because they can't understand that the line is not fully abandoned. Overall this is a very pleasing way to fully explore the Astoria waterfront. Highly recommended.

$1 for a hour ride along the waterfront of Astoria on a 100 year old trolley car Old 300?! I am IN!! Not only it is education, relaxing and great value! Chill and enjoy the scenery... You can just pay $2 for all day ride with hop on and off... I will suggest to ride the trolley to the end and then walk back and stop by some of the attractions. The trolley can get really busy if cruise ship is in port...but other days it is just great way to travel in town if you don't feel like walking!

I really enjoyed riding the Astoria trolley and hearing some of the history of the town while riding along the waterfront.

I used Twin Transit while staying in a hotel for a little over a week. This service operates only…read moreduring daytime hours (up to somewhere between 6:00 and 7:00 PM) during the week with limited service on Saturday. There are four bus lines with transfer points for transferring between lines. I only used the Red Line, Bus Route 30. It routes through major points in Chehalis to include the Safeway Grocery then to the very cute old part of Chehalis, past the Fairgrounds, Wal-Mart, and all the way up to Amtrak. If you are staying in any of the hotels on Interstate Street in Chehalis, it's a brisk half mile walk to the closest bus stop, which is Route 30. The stop is at the Safeway, but it's in the back, behind, on 11th street, and it's near the garbage container so a little smelly. On the other hand, if you are staying at any of the RV parks, they are too far away from any bus stop. I found their schedules hard to read and somewhat confusing. For example, Bus Route 30 makes a complete loop. The Lewis County shopping mall is on Hampe Street, which can be accessed on both sides of this loop. The schedule does not make it clear whether the bus accesses the mall going north or going south on the loop. It doesn't even address WHEN it stops at this mall. From riding the loop, I discovered it DOES access the mall from both sides of the loop. Well, it would have been nice to know that on the schedule....... Another issue was that since it was a "loop," well, when the bus finishes the "loop" at the last "time point," does it start over again, or do they put another bus at "time point #1" at the beginning of the loop and you have to transfer to another bus if you happen to be on it going that direction? Found out it does keep going on the next scheduled loop, but it would have been nice to have that clarified on the schedule. I think there are so many situations like this that it would make their schedule too complicated and they are just trying to keep it easy and keep the schedule to one page. Another rider on the bus kind of joked, "This is usual for Centralia/Chehalis, they give you limited information and you have to fill in the blanks....." The busses are about the size you would expect but I was surprised at the small number of seats in the bus. They space the seats farther apart than the seats on busses in larger cities. Even a tall person can ride comfortably. In large cities, even though I'm short, I feel crunched in the seats, but on the Twin Transit bus, I had a lot of leg room.

It folds up safely and stores with my caregiver, so people who can not get out of their wheelchairs can have the space. I'm trying to respect their disability. Passengers have shamed me, glared at me, and harassed me, all because they strapped my empty wheelchair when I've asked them not to. (They will even fight with me sometime and I either relent or get off cause I'm so mortified) It's so bad I have panic attacks every time it happens, now, and I never actually want to ride the buses I need to depend on to get around idk what to do tbh. I feel so embarrassed and ashamed of my disability as I deal with people regularly staring at me when I get out of my chair..... I've complained to them many times, and I hear it's policy. Yet you can fold and store walkers and strollers, but my EMPTY wheelchair has to be secured. It's honestly not different from a walker, IMO? I stopped sitting in my wheelchair on the bus because bus drivers were leaving other wheelchairs and strollers behind because of me. I can get up, I can walk short distances, and I do not need to sit in my chair on the bus so that other people can have that space. It all depends on what bus driver you have. Some of them respect my wishes; some of them flat-out don't, citing a policy I can't find on their website. EVEN THEN, they have a Reasonable Modification clause that allows them to modify policy if needed. I want them to see how this singles me out and makes me a target cause I have a disability different from the norm. I get enough from other people I don't need my transportation to make it worse, sometimes I'm flat out too scared to get on a bus because all this.... I just don't know what to do anymore, and I'm so fed up and discouraged. I can't tell you how many times I've complained and nothing happens, or I get conflicting stories. I'm just so tired; it shouldn't be this hard to have reliable transportation that respects my needs and those of other people with worse disabilities than mine, who need the space over me. We absolutely should not be strapping empty wheelchairs, and we absolutely should be strapping in strollers with children. Why is that not policy????
