I went to the Royal Buffet on San Mateo Blvd that used to be Furr's Cafeteria. The stay in the restaurant was pretty confusing. They were playing Mexican music in a Chinese restaurant, which made the atmosphere very strange to me. Hearing that kind of music and eating Asian food. Now was the food Chinese/Mexican or Mexican/Chinese that I was eating? It was pretty greasy and got me sick with diarrhea. It was more greasy Mexican with a hint of Chinese flavor. I think I will stay away from that place with a Mexican music atmosphere, with the greasy food to go with it. read more

My family recently ate at the Royal Buffet (which appeared to previously be a Furrs Cafeteria). While we enjoyed the food, it was the waitress/server that made this an enjoyable dining experience. "Lydia" provided us with stellar service - not only was her personality absolutely amazing, but she knew when to show up at our table to clear off dirty dishes and provide us with refills exactly when we needed them. We will be returning to this buffet again in the near future, and hope she is working when we return so we can ask for her to provide service to us again. When we arrived at 3:00 on Sunday, the place was packed! I asked the gal serving our drinks about business since they opened and she said Sundays were their busiest day. I have never seen a bigger buffet. There were four food tables with every variety you could think of. They kept bringing out replacement dishes that were fresh and hot. we are one of the constant costumers they have. until tonight we felt bad how one of their crews treated us. so sarcastic and disrespectful as he slammed the tip we left on the table for the lady who attended to us. his distaste is so evident. it's the only cash we have . as we are to leave he called me and said maam you left your $## twice. I turned around and said oh it's for the lady. he called her and said they left you $## . my question is why he didn't react the same way when other tables never left anything even a dollar bill . but us we tried to leave something despite we wanted to give more but that's the only available cash. do we need to be treated that way with our guests who's celebrating a bday? what a bad night with this guy. we just tried to understand that they have a long rough day but to treat customers like that it's not fair ... to the management pls as you serve good food, ambience and being friendly pls remind some of your staff to be ethical . we are always present in your restaurant and bringing our friends and families . we should not or anyone be treated like that wether they leave a tip or not. coz they always come back and give more the next time. my daughter said we are not coming back . but I told her a mistreatment like that should not ruin the reputation of your restaurant. he needs a break and hoping he treats customers better next time. he should have remembered the first time he served us he got a big tip from us and the guest we brought how come tonight he had shown a different person from the one we used to see in him. read more
