I love this place! The food is always delicious and gets refilled consistently. The staff is on top of their game and for the price you're not going to get a better deal. It's funny that it still has some of the old posters from when it was Furr's but don't let that ruin it for you. Gotta keep in mind that it's a buffet and not fine dining. Poor Furr's Buffet on San Mateo closed down, who knows if it was the pandemic ... now this place is a Chinese restaurant buffet. I am impressed the food was delicious and out did other local buffets. It's a buffet with a fair variety of many types of foods. Some really tasty items: the fried chicken wings, BBQ Ribs (usually very tender) cheese Mussels, egg rolls, fried fish, poached white fish, Tofu sushi pockets, even the enchiladas are reasonable. Also some good ice cream (I like to add some peach juice to my strawberry ice cream It's a buffet under $16 - even on a Sunday night. I couldn't figure out where I wanted to go for dinner - I was able to have many different cuisines. Some are better than places that specialize in certain styles. This Asian style buffet was barely ok. The cost for food was reasonable. The quality of the food was pretty questionable. I am unable to eat chicken. I was not able to eat potstickers without taking one, breaking it open, and checking the inside. (Which seemed to be pork). There were very few labels on the food. The food temp was probably borderline. There were "crab Rangoons" that had been dunked in the fryer, but had not been crisped up. Someone posted much of this is pre-prepped Frozen and canned food. This was actually a very pleasant surprise. We originally drove all the way to Hong Kong on the west side but my daughter had some anxiety because of how packed it was. We found this place on Yelp and said it was good for people who liked Hong Kong and to our pleasant surprise it was VERY similar. I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same ownership. They had a lot of similar menu items and setup. We went when they offered a father's day special buffet so it was more expensive than usual but still a great value. I don't know if some of the items we had available would be there on a typical day. I decided to go back on a week day. The price was $9.99 (senior price). The food was as plentiful, fresh, and tasty as it was the first time. Unlike most buffets that provide soft serve ice cream, there were about 8 different flavors of REAL ice cream. Sugar cones were provided as well as dessert bowls. There weren't as may seafood selections as there was when I went on a weekend day. The gentleman who served us was amazing. He was very attentive, pleasant, and made sure we had whatever we needed. When we were leaving he thanked us for coming and said he enjoyed serving us. I will definately return. read more

First time trying this place. I had heard a lot of great things about it I knew I had to try it. Walking in there was a line to be seated. The place was very busy. It didn't take long to get to the register. It wasn't until after I paid, that's when the wait started. There were two lines spit. I was in line for 20 minutes waiting to be seated. If I hadn't of already paid I would've left. After finally being seated I finally got to experience the buffet. The presentation was nice but the quality was meh. They had a lot to offer the only thing lacking was flavor. The noodles need more seasoning, the mushrooms needed more sautéing with some flavor. I can't say anything for the grill since I didn't get a chance to try it since the line was too long for me and I didn't feel like waiting in the never ending line. Overall it was an ok experience. The staff was friendly for the most part. They appear to be very busy often so if you looking to get in and get out, this probably isn't the place to go. I am shocked that this is the first review! We drove by and thought Furr's was open again, but noticed the sign Royal Buffet Grill. We decided to stop and eat since we were on the go and a buffet is a great place for everyone to ve satisfied wnd find exactly what they want. We were all surprised to see this was an asian buffet! My daughter and I had been in the mood for sushi, so it worked perfect. They had at least 6 different rolls to choose from, a grill for fresh cooked food, and lots of traditional dishes. The waiter was so fast with beverages and taking our plates. He was nice and accommodating when we asked if he could point us in the right direction of some sauces for our rolls. The music was really pleasant. The only real downside was that the decor was all left over from Furr's, including pictures of dishes that were not being served. There were also signs above dishes that were not being served. BBQ Pork, Italian Pasta, etc. I am not sure if they were misplaced or signs from the last Furr's dishes. However, if you like buffet (and I do), then this is a nice addition to the scene! The price isn't too bad ($12.49 lunch, $15.99 dinner). There is a good selection of fruits, salad and bread. They have a number of fish options. They have lots of fried items. The chicken wings are actually very tasty! I thought the fried shrimp was pretty good, too. They have a Mongolian grill, but I thought it was a little basic. The guy running it seems a bit new to the concept and is a little hesitant, but he got the job done. The Chinese food was pretty good. The chili chicken is very tasty. I was surprised that the dishes have a lot of flavor! The dumplings were also a pleasant find! I enjoyed these quite a bit. My mom and I went to eat at Royal Buffet. We paid for our food, but didn't get a chance to eat due to the fact that our server was very surly. We asked to be sat away from the noise (I have autism), but are server stated that it was busy and proceeded to stick us near a very large group. There were plenty of spaces out of the way. The table that she tried to stick us at was very dirty and sticky. We left shortly after. We also tried to get a refund, but I have yet to receive anything back into my bank account. read more

Hello, I'm new to New Mexico and I went on field trip with my kids and we ate here at Royal buffet. I am so disappointed with the service from the waiters because we asked to get our tables clean and the servers acted like they didn't understand English. It took them a while to get them clean, OK well we did the best we could to communicate with them to clean the tables that was an ordeal in itself than the waiter put his hand out and asked for his tip, which I thought was extremely rude. Remember, we're on a field trip and I was just a chaperone on the field trip. Last the owner or the man in charge wanted to see our total bill he said we didn't pay for all our children we even provided him with the list of children well come to find out he charged us for 1xtra child! What an ordeal, so unbelievable so as we packed up all the kids after eating and when we're all on the bus he ran outside to the bus to ask us to pay 15% gratuity. This was Not a good experience. Bad business, all this should have been done in the beginning or when we paid the bill also remember the waiter asking for their tips with their hands out and waiters who can't communicate with customers and that man thinking we didn't pay for all of our kids and same guy running to the bus asking for our gratuity. I will never ever recommend this place to eat for a field trip or just eat. My bueno this was just horrible! read more

What you expect from a buffet. Lots of variety, and new batches coming out. The service was very good and were on top of drink refills and napkins. The place was very clean and not chaotic. The chicken on skewers was one of the best items there along with the crawfish. One complaint that goes along with the previous reviewers is that there were quite a bit of dishes that were not warm. The absolute worst food I have ever eaten! 90% of the food that we served was either cold or looked like it had been sitting there for way to long with the amount of people taking the risk to eat. The lack of concern for food quantity is scary. They just put a new sign up over the old Furr's buffet sign and not my different on the inside. Tables were dirty and cups came out same way... My wife and I and another couple went there at about 2pm. The place was clean, quiet - although it was busy - the food was delicious, and the temperature was good. The Greeter was gracious and thoughtful. The waitress was courteous, kind, thoughtful and well informed. Went for lunch in Friday Staff is nice. Place is clean and busy Food ... eh I'm not expecting 5 star dining... it's a cafeteria buffet, you get what you pay for. Food: Why have mashed potatoes if you have no gravy? (if you call whatever that dollar store instant, potatoes, they had as potatoes) Dry, no seasoning. Appears to be either all frozen food reheated. The food didn't blow my mind or anything but it also wasn't bad. Overall I like the way the place looks the building is really cool. The decorations could be upgraded a little but overall it was an okay experience. If you like buffets you will prob like this because they have a lot of selections.
