Wow. I feel really bad writing this, but this is hands down the worst American Chinese food I have ever had in my life. I got so excited with the prices, the portions, and the divey look...but once we got home and tried the food - I gagged. Everything tasted old, the meat was chewy, and there was an old grease aftertaste after each bite. I couldn't finish my meal. That doesn't happen. Even if I don't like something I'll try to finish it. I hate wasting food, but this was not edible. My stomach clenched almost knowing "don't eat this". So we'll see if I end up sick later. Review for 4th St. location. Having been a long time patron of Four Joys, the previous restaurant in this location that was excellent but walking into this dive of a place was disappointing. Unfortunately, the food was the same. It's premade and sits on hot plates. You can get a lot of food for a good price. Unfortunately, its dry, greasy and since its all piled on top of each other, the flavor just ends up being kind of gross. We threw most of it in the trash. read more

I don't know how many times we've passed by this place, but we finally decided to give it a try. We went in with low expectations, not thinking it'd be much based on the exterior experience. Maybe because our expectations were low, they exceeded them easily. It really is such a good deal for the price. I would be mindful of the entrees you get, because some of them can blend together and be too saucy, but if you balance some of the "wet" entrees with the drier ones, I think it's a real hit. It obviously isn't authentic Chinese by any means, but it satisfies the Chinese take-out craving with no issues. read more

This is a hidden gem that has always been around but I never stopped in until recently. Now, I'm a nut for Chinese food! I could live off Chinese or Asian food! Hi Ho Chinese is an excellent fix for your Chinese need! Not only that, the price is unreal for the amount of food you get! There are three location in the ABQ if that tells you anything. For $6 and change, you'll get a three item combo WITH fried rice and or noodles and the to go box ends up weighing like four pounds! It's awesome! The food quality is like Panda Express but better priced! There is so much food, I have it for leftovers and that itself is an entire meal! I just came from Ho Ho's with take out. Not sure what some of the negative reviews are about. I frequent this place quite a bit. I had Sweet and Sour Chicken, Beef and Broccoli and Teriyaki Chicken with fried rice. I also got the egg rolls. The pieces were large, the Sweet and Sour Chicken was a tempura crispy batter. The broccoli was fresh and cooked just right. Huge portions as usual. So much so that it was hard to close the to-go box. The egg rolls were pretty standard, but good. I got some Chinese takeout the other day from a fancier place and it was great and probably better because it was cooked to order. For a Chinese buffet, Ho Ho's is fresh and good and you can't beat the price, which was $7.00 for three meats and rice. Some reviews said "you get what you pay for". I think you get much more than you pay for here. I just wish they would have thrown in a fortune cookie. I would like to know what the future will bring. Thanks! read more

Large servings for a great price! My son is a fan of this place and likes to pick this up at least twice a month. As far as I know, there is only the one location so it is out of our way but when we do visit this side of town we stop by for a quick and inexpensive meal. There is no drive-thru so you do have to get down and order inside but there is a small seating area if you wish to stay and eat your meal. We always order the large combo with half rice and half lo mein with three sides and there's enough left over for another meal later which is nice. You can also get 3 eggrolls for under $2. The food is good but definitely fast food quality. Do not expect the same taste and quality as a pricer sit down restaurant. I think if you are a fan of Panda you would probably like this too. read more

This spot is one of my favorite places to go for authentic Chinese food!!! The service is wonderful and the lady that serves you is so nice and welcoming when you come in. And the QUANTITY don't even get me started!! You leave with enough food for the night and the next day only for $7!!! I'll definitely be going there from now on. This place is dirty and still has plastic barriers all around the food and the plastic barriers look like they haven't been cleaned in several months and there are no tables to eat at and a broken window that's been boarded up.... and let me say about the food there is no pride or passion in the food being made and the quality is not good at all just very disappointed and didn't even bother to complain or waste my time to go and get my money back for the nasty food or step back in the dirty restaurant again I'm sure nothing will change but that's my review read more

Went around rush hour this evening. Not a single customer in the place. That made me nervous. Went here by the way at the suggestion of a friend. The food was a bit below average. Not very flavorful. The place had a ton of flys flying around (my friend suggested we eat there as opposed to taking it home SMH). Personally I won't be back. Ive been told that people really like coming here but I really don't care for this place. They do have big portions for cheap price but that's about it. I was recommended this place by family and was very disappointed with what I ate. The quality of food is very low. I don't really know how to describe it all I know is I didn't feel good WHILE I was eating the food. I honestly can't even remember what I got. If you are really in the mood for Chinese food just go down the street to Panda Express. Or drive further and go to Pei Wei or any of the places at NobHill. I farted in the car on my way back and couldn't distinguish my stink from the food. I expected a huge dissapointment. But it was cheap and they do the brown sauce right. I go at least once a week and one combo plate with egg rolls feeds both of us really good. One of my fallback goto spots..EDIT...my last 3 meals were dry. Flavor not what it usually is. The food is AWFUL, but at $5 for about 5 lbs of the stuff, who's complaining? Me and my friend eat here fairly often, even if we eat here ironically. The portions are laughably huge, probably 3000 calories in one meal. The food always seems half-a**ed, ex) finding 1/2 of a large unchopped onion is not uncommon. The meat becomes a gelatinous mess in about 5 minutes after buying, yet there is so much MSG in this that you may as well be snorting cocaine. (it's oddly addicting and delicious). Really good American style Chinese food. The service is always good and quick, also the price is the best part because you don't need to spend more than 6 or 7 bucks and they give you a ton of food. The people on yelp complaining about stomach aches and diarrhea are just a bunch of sissys. I never got sick or had and problems but I guess people will complain about anything. The store looks rundown but it's a really cool place and the owner and works do alot for there customers. In my opinion the only thing wrong about this place is that it's here in ABQ.
