Great location on the Passeig de Gracia, just a few steps from Gaudi's Casa Pedrera and a sightseeing bus stop hub, nextdoor to a cashpoint, opposite a taxi rank, walking distance to the old town, and surrounded by unaffordable designer shops that are nevertheless nice to look at!
I was suckered into paying an extra 10 euros a night to include breakfast and get an upgrade, and the deluxe room I ended up in was very spacious and well appointed - slippers, toiletries, the works. Extra brownie points for having blackout blinds too, auto-operated from the bedside.
The reception staff don't really have their act together - most queries trigger blank looks and a request to come back later to speak to a manager, the siesta hours being the worst for this. Provided you don't need to do anything too complex with them though you should be fine - a g&t on their awesome rooftop terrace bar and any complaints will be soon forgotten! This was a great space to enjoy some evening sunshine and oversized bordeaux glasses of gin after a tough day of meetings, and plan the rest of our evening using their wifi.
