I'm reviewing this hotel because they have one of the most comprehensive and delicious buffet breakfasts I've ever experienced in a European hotel at this price point. I would pay to come eat breakfast here if I wasn't a guest at the hotel. They offer a mouth watering pastry selection of freshly baked goods, fresh fruits, juices, a hot bar with sausages, eggs, ratatouille, quiche, and other rotating items. Hotel staff here were all super friendly and helpful. Rooms are comfortable and pretty standard. If breakfast is your thing, then it's totally worth staying here since breakfast is included in the hotel cost.

My family and I stayed at The Hotel U232 last month and I liked it, except for our small room with no balcony or exterior window. I may be a little envious after hearing about the rooms with balconies and windows as we had no windows except in the bathroom. The Hotel U232 did have a nice breakfast buffet and bar which I really liked. These two good things in addition to them giving my son and another choir member a room at no charge bumped my possible three star review up to a three. I'm not sure if our tour company kicked in some of their own funds for the extra room, but it was appreciated. There are lots of restaurants nearby and we found a couple good Italian restaurants as we were tired of tapas. Look at my list for Barcelona and you will see these.

We loved our stay at Hotel U232 at Carrer del Comte d'Urgell, 232, 08036 Barcelona, Spain. Hotel is in the heart of several shops and many restaurants. Just two blocks from tour bus stops. Also just two blocks from two different subway stops. The staff here too was excellent. Luis is phenomenal! Talk about a true hospitality professional. He is a great first impression when checking in, and makes sure you are having the best time possible with any insight he can give on the area, helping with reservations, or just answering basic questions. We really relied on Luis and he was awesome. The amenities at U232 are great as well. The terrace , the gym, the restaurant, the free wifi, and the bar, they have just about everything for anyone. The hotel overall including public space and rooms are all very boutique. We loved our stay at Hotel U232 at Carrer del Comte d'Urgell, 232, 08036 Barcelona, Spain. We would recommend to anyone scouting out hotels to stay. It's just far enough out of the hectic downtown area, but still in downtown to see and do everything you want.

view from balcony, when you leave the doors open it's a little loud but the moment you shut them then you can't anything outside.

Fantastic hotel, super clean, nice amenities and located super close to the metro so you have access to the rest of the city. Staff was kind and court, ate the breakfast their once and it wasn't bad; actually better than most hotel breakfasts. Had a beautiful view from hotel which I appreciated and housekeeping cameo everyday to change towels and make the bed. Also blackout curtains were amazing, woke up having no idea that it was already day time, lol.

Barcelona has some very reasonable hotels but they're only the basics... if you want luxury, you're going to pay a fair bit for it. I was originally looking at the Hilton properties with 300+ Euros a night and then I found this wonderful spot and only $160 Euros a night with a great breakfast. Outside the core and touristy areas, you're placed near the hospitals where its miraculously quiet. It is a safe spot as well as its clean with it's wide streets and lots of nice little places nearby. There is many farmacia, supermarkets (Aldi), and great restaurants within walking distance (Maitea has been on so many lists and its only 5 minutes away). Another big plus is that there is good coffee nearby and the subway is only a 4 minute walk south. Super convenient! This 4 star property is run incredibly well with the most wonderful staff who really know how to do customer service well. They're very knowledgeable and helpful... they helped book our restaurants. Don't worry too much if you dont speak Spanish, the staff is fluent in multiple languages. They're just wonderful. The room was clean and spotless but like most European hotels, it is on the smaller side. Our room faced the courtyard and this was ok but what happened is that it was mostly dark in the rooms all the time. It felt like a windowless room at time. The bathroom is a good size for European standards and has wonderful water pressure which helps your body feel revived after hours of walking. The only comment would be the beds... they're so soft that your back feels quite sore the next day. I'm not sure if they're meant to be that soft or just worn. As for the breakfast... if it is included, it's a steal. Though the service is sometimes incredibly slow (they never take the plates away and you need to flag them down for coffee), it is delicious with many local options that keep most people happy. The other nice thing is they replenish items quite often and keep it very clean. I do like how they rotate the menu so you don't have too many repeats the next day. Overall, very nice hotel and would be happy to stay here again!

Our family stayed here for a week to enjoy the city. Arrived early and the front desk staff stored our bags so we could leave on our first Tapas tour. Cocktails ,such as wine and Bellini welcome you every evening along with assorted sweets. The rooms we had offered terraces-one room faced the street where as the second the inside court yard of local apartments. The baths were appointed with hand held showers .Soaps were in dispensers and the water was plenty hot. Room service was very attentive to any requests. Breakfast on the second floor was delightful. Catalonian specials such as assorted cheeses and jamon. Lots of fresh juices and fresh baked sweets and cakes.Champagne and coffee of course are included. Also bacon, eggs, potatoes and salads. The offerings changed during the week according to the access to certain foods. Wonderful location -easy Uber /taxi pick up in front or drive your own car with free parking in the garage next to the hotel.

Boutique-feel hotel one block away from the metro blue line. The L'Ille shopping center which is well worth a visit is at walking distance. Though the rooms are small, the bath boasts pumps with shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. I was surprised not to see body lotion. The bathroom includes a bidet and a towel warmer. Rooms come with a mini bar. Staff was gracious and explained in detail how to get somewhere via metro. I took off a star for lack of body lotion and bad coffee which is rare for Spain.

Just in case this is your concern..

I have to admit the hotel was nice and clean but the overall service & amenities was bad. We all know how the service can make it or break it for a vacation. Especially, when you paid good money & can't get out of it. We had an issue with our room and they didn't do anything to fix the situation because they didn't have anyone available to fix the A/C issue. The excuse was, it's a weekend and they don't have a full staff on duty. Other excuse "we're sold out" the least they could've done was offer a fan or change the room..but nevertheless that wasn't an option for them because they knew we were leaving soon. PRO: free Wifi, clean, modern room, free good breakfast, good location. CON: service, when you have tourist in your hotel you would think that they would offer someone that speaks other languages (not an option here). this hotel does not offer queen or king beds; I asked but nothing. However, they did offer to put 2 twin beds together (sigh). A/C doesn't work well, power goes on off intermittently. Not all the power outlets work. They control the temperature to your room to their liking, I knew this because the front desk informed me and said they cap the A/C at 22 Celsius, which is 71.6 (cost saving concern on the hotel part) and the temperature in our room never got lower than 26 Celsius (78.8 F degrees) (picture attached). They were HOT rooms they don't provide details as to how to use the A/C in the rooms; OUR ROOM WAS HOT & NEVER COOLED DOWN. They have iron for use (but not in the room), only if it's not all checked out by other guests. Bathroom toilet kept running (see video) so much for being environmentally conscious. Safe: after you put your personal code in for the safe, it resets for some odd reason. We had to ask the front desk to come up & reset. Unsure if the staff resets it while we were gone. Watch your belongings . They don't provide details as to how to use the amenities in the room; example: how to work the tv, A/C, showers, window covers, TV channels etc...we had a room next to the elevator, our window was surrounded by 3 walls. remember you are in a different country! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL IF BEING COMFORTABLE IS MAIN CONCERN.

This is an interesting hotel - very quiet and located not very close to the tourist attractions at all. Not sure why Expedia recommended it - would have preferred to stay near the Ramblas. But the staff was helpful - they gave us a map and guided us on where to go. The subway system is very easy to navigate. But there is nothing close to this hotel at all! Not that we we interested in anyway! The rooms were fairly large but the shower and bathroom was tiny! The sheets didn't feel completely clean because I noticed streaks of makeup or color on mine. We had a room for 3 and they didn't bother to give us extra blankets and the rooms were dark with no windows. We also had to kill gross but on the wall. We slept well because of the black out curtains though. And the maid didn't honor the "do not disturb" sign because we had it up and they came in and cleaned our room anyway! At least it was quiet! I also rented the wifi to go thing and it didn't work outside of the hotel. They charged me for it for the day anyway and I just gave it back early. Don't do it!

Room was clean, big with a beautiful bathroom. The nerd in me was impressed by the computer panel which controls the elevator system. There are 4 elevators for use. On each floor outside the elevators is a touch screen computer panel in which you select where you need to go - floor number or restaurant name. The computer figures out the elevator which can take you to your destination fastest and displays the number on the screen. After the display is shown the elevator arrives within seconds. The floor number is pre-selected when you step in. You cannot select the floor from inside the elevator. This was a very efficient system and I wish all hotels adopt it. They also serve delicious breakfast and the spread is huge. Every single thing that I tried on the breakfast was of excellent quality. The servers even come to your table and ask you if they can bring you coffee or juice. The empty plates are immediately removed and the tables cleaned. L1 metro line starts from the 'Hospital de Bellvitge' stop which is opposite to Hotel Hesperia. That gives you the advantage of pick your seat on the metro journey. If you are taking the metro to/from the airport, you'll have to change from L1 to L9 at Torrassa station. Airport is about 10 minutes away by taxi, so you might not want to go the metro route. By metro, hotel is about 30 minutes to beach or La Rambla street and 1 hour to Parc Guell. So it's definitely not in the center where you can walk to the happening places.

TLDR: Come for the rooftop views of Barcelona, not so much for the stay…read more While Barceló Raval's rooftop offers one of the best panoramic views of Barcelona, the hotel itself is giving knockoff of the W. They try to give off that sexy, mysterious vibe, but as soon as you step into the room, the green ceiling, cheap fixtures and damask wallpaper give it away. The hotel is reasonably "affordable" for its location (near the Gothic Quarter and La Barceloneta), but definitely in a sketchy area. I highly advise walking outside the hotel at night, as you'll find the rough crowds your parents warned you about. The nearest metro station is about a 10-minute walk, and to get there, you have to cut through some of the sketchiest alleys. I booked through Expedia and was upgraded to a room with a view, a bottle of mini wine & an extra bottle of water. My amenities weren't so great from the moment I opened the door. Since my room was pretty high up, the room was stifling & those views were blocked by a stainless steel mesh. FYI: your room requires a key card at all times if you're trying to use electricity, which includes air conditioning. The shower initially felt luxurious--spacious with a giant waterfall head and solid water pressure--followed by lush bath towels, but that impression faded once I noticed the pockets of mold and grime in the corners. Sleeping was also a challenge since walls are thin and anytime the guests next to me entered their room, it sounded like someone was entering mine, which kept me paranoid and on high alert. Rooftop: the rooftop not only offers panoramic views of Barcelona, but also has a bar and pool, though hard to even suggest the pool is an amenity since it's more so for aesthetic than functionality. On the roof, it's not an open floor plan, so you'll have to walk around the building to get a full 360 view. For those who are height deficient such as myself: prepare for obstructed views because of the high railings (great for safety, but not so much for those under 5'3).

The closet storage was tiny for storing our stuff, making it a chore to pull things out of the closet. Overall it was a pleasant stay and we would come back but many hotels we passed by looked like good options as well.
