To he honest, this would have been a 5 star review if not for one thing: the tall male employee in the back screaming through the restaurant at an employee who just went on his lunch break. Apparently he forgot to do something and instead of dealing with it quietly or through the manager, he chose to yell at him across the busy lobby! And then after he went back and corrected his oversight he came out front and yelled again criticizing him for his choice in break time! Completely unprofessional and the manager (or who i presume is the manager) just stood there and allowed this behavior! Completely unprofessional! 1'30'2020 I've been trying to get here for few months now. Today I made it a point to visit. I went through the drive-through and they were busy. They were busy, but they were moving. I ordered a number 7 which is a 2 piece chicken, a side and a beverage. I got a 2 piece dark, my side was of baked beans, and a good ole Dr Pepper. The young lady that assisted me was so nice. I didn't confirm her name but on the receipt said Theresa so I hope that was her. She was very nice, quick and efficient. She greeted me well and she thanked me for coming. My food was so hot that I had to wait for it to cool off. My chicken was so fresh and the baked beans were a piping hot and yum! I know I burned my mouth in the least 3 places! Ha This location is a short hike from my house but still closer than the rest, I will revisit just for the customer service alone! The quality food is a bonus for me! I love Roy Rogers. It is the only fast food I eat. The locations are very clean 9/10 times (yesterday's bathroom at the Westminster location could have been better). Service varies from store to store. However, the one on 85 in Frederick is the absolute best. Their service far exceeds all other locations (Germantown is second). I went to pick up food and was told it would take 10 minutes for the chicken... after the order was placed and I drove to the restaurant. I waited 10 minutes and went back inside. The manager says "we are waiting for your fries" when I questioned how the fries weren't finished when I already waited 10 minutes for the chicken. He walked away from me, behind a wall where I saw him gossiping to another employee like I was the problem. He purposefully drug his feet walking around at the slowest pace possible, I'm assuming to spite me. THE MANAGER!!!! At the end of it all, he tossed a bag at me for me to bag the food myself. Was sitting at a table eating when one of the staff came in from outside after emptying a trash can. He left the trashcan sitting in the dining room and went to go get a new liner for it. We used to have a couple of Roy Rogers near where we live. So, when we were Day Trippin' (One way ticket, yeah!--- the Beatles), we had already told each other to "Watch for a Roy's"! We saw this one, and careened into the parking lot almost on two wheels, barely missing a busload of blind nuns. At any rate, for the uninitiated, Roys has the very best roast beef sandwiches in the whole wide Fast Food Chain Business, bar NONE. They put enough meat on the sandwich, it's REAL roast beef, not that flaked and formed crap, and (at least they used to) they butter and toast their buns. And, a nod to a Roy's tradition, they have a "Fixin's Bar" Note to FLDs- Fellow Yelp Diners. It's NOT a "Salad Bar". It's a FIXINS bar. Like, put a couple of this, and one of that on your sandwich. (See photo of I'm sure a very nice man, who seems determined to consume all the profit Roy's may have made off his lunch, by eating about a half pound of pickles. I only took the photo about 15 min after he STARTED on the pile, so you can imagine how big it was when he started. Thank goodness pickles are cheap.... Come to think of it, I'd hate to use the rest room after he polishes those off!!!! ) One last thing. We were there about a half hour, savoring both the Roy's Roast Beef, and Roy's Fried Chicken. The entire time I was there, the ENTIRE TIME, one employee was either wiping down tables, or wiping pickle juice off the edges of the Fixin's Bar. For that, they get a fourth star. It's been a while since I've been to a Roy Rogers. If there's a rule about ordering a 1/4 pound cheese burger with specific call outs for the fixings, I wasn't enlightened to that process by the girl taking my order. So I ended up with a patty with cheese on a bun ... nothing else ... x5. Which was even more confusing because I ordered several kids cheeseburgers in that mix too, and as we unpacked them from the crammed bags we couldn't immediately tell the difference between the two kinds. And the only request I had on one of them was to be lettuce wrapped and bun less, but they said it simply couldn't be done. You know, I'm not an advocate for Cancel Culture, but this experience makes me rethink that position. read more

I'm going to have to avoid it for a while because I really did not enjoy getting yelled at by the manager because the cashier did not tell her that my order was to go. When I realized that the order being placed on a tray was mine, I let the lady know that it was to go and she starts yelling at me for not telling her sooner. The food was great and I thought I was being very polite when I asked for a bag. I did ask for the manager and that's when I found out she was the manager. Went here today. The place was clean the staff friendly. I had a Cheeseburger and Fries meal. The food was ready fairly fast, well cooked no complaints. The fixins bar is what really sets Roy Rodgers apart. I loaded my burger up making it truly mine and delicious. The horse radish sauce was the finishing touch. I love this Roy Rogers. It's always clean, I never get mixed up meals as I do at other fast food restaurants and the fixins' bar is always well stocked and fresh. They also are so willing to help with different fundraisers and hire a lot of people with disabilities and help accommodate those with disabilities which I think is fabulous. I would give this Roy Rogers a 5 star but I knocked two stars off for a reason. Reason #1) They changed their burger buns. They are no longer soft. They are hard, taste funky and have sesame seeds on them. Lastly, Reason #2) The wait during the drive through can be atrocious. One time I seriously thought they had a ferry boat haul a cow from Kenya, slaughtered it, made the burger then cook the said burger. They could pick up the pace in the drive through. If they fix these two problems by bringing the old rolls back and by picking up the pace in the drive through, they'd be worth a 5 star review. read more

One of the best run fast food restaurants I've ever been to. I love me some Roy Rogers. The concept of a Fixin's Bar is one I wish more places would take on. I know how I want my sandwich dressed and at Roy's I can place just the right amount of lettuce, choose two of the juiciest slices of tomatoes I want and ensure I get a nice even distribution of mayonnaise. But enough of me raving about the benefits of a Fixin's bar, this Roy is extremely well run. There is always sufficient friendly staff. They keep the dining area clean and maintained at all hours of the day. I love their hamburgers, but I know their chicken and roast beef is the star of the show. Fries are always hot, fresh and well seasoned. They even have hand dipped ice cream available for those with a sweet tooth. Unfortunately a lot of the Roy Rogers have been disappearing since the 90s, so do yourself a favor and stop in to experience fast food as it should be before they all disappear. read more

Although we always like the food, we were not happy with how messy it was today. The fixins bar had sauce and seasonings all over the counter. The fixins bins were either empty or mixed together. There was a worker on the floor who we watched walk by it several times and did nothing.
