We were greeted by an animated version of Darth Vader, as well as the bar tender. Mandy, our server, was friendly and attentive. She checked on us several times. Our food and beverages came out quickly. The bar offers mostly bbq and bar food, with daily lunch specials. I had the bbq pork sandwich with coleslaw. The generous helping of bbq pork was tender and juicy and served on a perfectly toasted brioche bun. The spicy bbq sauce is tangy and delicious. I also had a side of Mamaw's coleslaw slaw which was house made and deliciously sweet. My husband had the same sandwich with fries and the fries are crispy and really tasty. We lived our meals. The dining room is large with a mix of family size tables. The bar is decorated with Star Wars posters. Chewbacca stands near the back and a storm trooper guards upstairs. They have a full bar. This was one of the best bbq sandwiches that I've ever had. Obi's is worth a visit!

We were going to try a piece of the key lime pie but I had already ordered one for my husband to go so we ended up sharing a piece of the sugar cream pie. It's the Indiana state pie. Since I'm from Georgia, this is all new to me and I had never had it before. The crust was very flaky. I ate it all. And as someone that doesn't normally like the crust on pie, that says it a lot. The filling was denser than a custard and sweet. It was good. But my favorite was the key lime pie. I had a bite when I dropped off my husband's to go order at his office. The key lime pie crust was amazing and the filling had just the right amount of tart to it. Delicious. I am looking forward to coming back and absolutely recommend others try it. I stopped by on my Tenderness Tour because I was dragging a bit for the day and wanted to pick up an iced tea. Taking a camera crew (this tour was filmed from beginning to end) was a little awkward, however, the locals tolerated my presence quite nicely and I was able to have a great conversation with owners and employees about everything I was doing - a couple even donated to the cause and we got a great photo or two! The food here leans toward breakfast - like most breakfast/brunch joints - and this wasn't my first time here as I'd been here on a previous tour. Pricing is fair and definitely below an awful lot of Indy's brunch joints. While Sweetser Cafe doesn't have a website (that I'm aware of), they do have a social media presence and I do know they serve black angus beef, have daily specials, and are locally owned. Sweetser, Indiana is a smaller town of just about 1,000 in Grant County and is a great place to start for those tackling the Cardinal Greenway (Indiana's longest rail-trail). If you stop in Sweetser, you stop at Sweetser Cafe (at least before 2pm).

Right in the middle of all of the action is Charlie's Donuts and More. Charlie is behind the counter ready to take your order. He has a great variety of donuts, rolls and fritters. There is also a hot dog roller grill and a crock pot full of sausage gravy ready to smother some biscuits. That's the "and More" part. The maple doughnut with chopped peanuts is a favorite as well as the apple fritter. The biscuits and gravy is a regular order for me when I'm visiting Indiana. They are closed Sunday and Monday so stock up if you need Sunday Brunch fixin's.

Most of the time, the car hops gals will bring your food out to your vehicle, on a tray that hooks on to your driver or passenger side window. The service is always excellent. The food is always amazing and the car hops whom take your order start their first job working here while they are in high schooler or on summer break. I highly recommend you try out B&K - South, once in your life, in Peru, Indiana. They're so kind, caring and deliver your order in a very timely manner. I also recommend their gallons of Root Beer. They have the absolute BEST Root Beer in town. You can buy it by the pint or gallon to take home. Its a MUST! The one and only complaint I have seen/heard from people is the parking when B&K first opens. (They are only open from Spring to the beginning of Fall.). They do get super busy when reopening for the season, but it is really not too bad to where the wait is way too long. (Also would depend on how long your lunch break is.) I would play it smart and call in to order ahead of time and pick your order up if you don't have a lot of time to wait.
