This shop is open and airy. They carry fabrics , patterns and supplies for quilting, as well as embroidery, knitting and crochet supplies. The greatest items in stock were the many Featherweight singer sewing machines and supplies for maintaining and use of these machines. I used to sew. I used to crochet and even knit, but life happened along the way, and ALL that fell to the wayside. Fast forward to now... I happened to find this shop on a search for Carpenteria gift shops as something to do on our recent road trip up to Cambria. When I saw that they are part fabric and knitting shop, along with gift shop, and when I saw how cute and colorful it is, along with 5 star reviews, well, I thought, let's see what this is all about. All's I gotta say is that it was everything I had hoped it'd be, and even though I walked out empty-handed (THIS time), I was super impressed with the adorable gift-type items, knick-knacks, and everything in between. The store was beautifully decorated. It was colorful, inviting and enticing, and it had a huuuuuge selection of fabrics and things related to sewing. Now that I'm retired, I have nothing in my way to returning to sewing again. I even still have my Singer sewing machine from when I turned 16. It's now an antique... just like I am. LOL Roxanne's is not that far away, so I can easily make a return trip to buy something... and will !! read more

The shop had the most Kaffe fabric I have ever seen! They also have kits and ideas on how to use it. There is so much to see that I couldn't do it in 1 hr. The fabric, the notions, the embroidery and the small gifts were just so wonderful! The only drawback is this: the staff was very friendly but they did not go out of their way to answer any questions. When I asked about a certain kit (@$290) the sales woman said, "The kits are over there." So was I supposed to open the kit and find out the specifics? I decided not to buy any kits. They lost a $700 sale because I was willing to buy three kits. Other than that, the shop is beautiful and happy. read more

Wow! There were so many items to look at I am sure that I missed quite a few items even though I took my time looking in each room. That just means that I will have more to discover on my next visit. I went in mainly to look at the fabric selection, but there are a number of gift items as well as yarn and supplies for knitting and crocheting. The fabrics were bold, bright, and beautiful. The quilts on display were fun to look at and I saw a few that I would like to make. Although the shop is filled within there is plenty of space for walking around without bumping into anyone. I can see that others mentioned that they weren't greeted or checked in on as they were looking around the shop. I had the same experience, but when I went to get my fabric cut the staff was efficient and friendly. I didn't take any photos. I was too busy looking at and thinking about what I could make with all of their fabric! read more

Roxanne's is an amazing place to visit. They've been in business since 1982 (40 years). One of the best shops I've come across in all my quilt shop travels. I loved the way the store was laid out. I honestly spent several hours exploring, and I found it to be beyond charming. The ladies working the store were very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. There's so much to this store from the fabric and notions to the featherweight machines in one of the back rooms. There's a section for people who enjoy knitting or crocheting (a wonderful assortment of yarns), and an area for wonderful treasures to purchase as gifts. They had a rack with an assortment of all types of greeting cards reasonably priced. I felt like it was a bit of heaven. The only thing it needed was a Home Depot next to it, so the husbands have a place to go (ha ha). Ladies don't bring your husbands because you'll want to take your time exploring this amazing store. I was sad to hear that the owner is getting ready to retire. I really hope that someone wonderful will purchase the store and keep it just the way it is. This was a pretty sweet little shop. They have a little bit of everything. I just stopped in for my obligatory vacation stop at a local quilt shop. I bought something small - a quilt pattern. I didn't have the travel room to purchase the fabric to make it. The only thing that would make this quaint shop better is assistance. There were other shoppers in there, but they seemed like local regulars. I didn't have anyone ask me if I was looking for anything in particular or if I was finding what I needed. I may have made a bigger purchase if I had been directed toward something that would remind me of Santa Barbara. Aside from that, I would go back here! read more

I love Roxanne's a Wish and a Dream. It is most often my first stop when I arrive in Carpinteria and my last stop before leaving town after a long weekend. The sales representatives are kind and very helpful when I am searching for specific material or yarns. The store is very neat and well organized. Their gifts are unique. It is about 90 minutes from my home; there have been times when I needed fabric, elastic, quilting supplies and I could easily place an order and everything was readily shipped to my house for a mailing fee, of course. Two months ago I was in buying yarn. I had never seen a Featherweight Singer. Of course I went home to research on line. There were loads for sale. I called Roxanne and asked a few questions. What I wanted she did not have at the time. Today I purchased my "Original 1940 Featherweight", scroll face, chrome wheel and accessories in its original carrying case. Roxanne is very knowledgable and a delight to work with. I am very satisfied with the fair price I paid. I know the machine is in excellent condition. And if I need help I know where to go. It's a great little store, tons of Featherweight sewing machine accessories, super cute material and patterns, a fair selection of yarns, but no fingering weight yarn wool/nylon suitable for socks, which I found really surprising considering they had great brands. Great little scissors and accessories and quilting accesssories. Not overly friendly and I've left twice without my purchase because I could not get help. No ones ever asked if I've needed help even though I've stopped by there once a week. Having said that it's such a cute shop and they have such great things that I continue to go and would recommend stopping in if you're in the area. read more

They have a Large selection of fabrics but the customer service is not good. The girl at the front was very rude to us. We went to return something and she gave us a stupid look and said um no you can't return it. Even though the receipt said you could. I love coming into the shop when I am in town. The shop is decorated so cute, is always tidy and offers a wide variety of crafting and gift items.
