"I have always imagined that paradise would be a kind of library." - Jorge Luis Borges…read more Today I walked into a new Library. Well, new to me. It's in Garland, Texas, a town not far from where I live. And it felt like a kids paradise from the moment I walked down the stairs into the children's area. I saw children gathered around for a special event, and they were all filled with joy and many were giggling. What a beautiful experience it was to see such happiness around books. And isn't that what being a child is supposed to be like? The walls were covered with creative nature scenes, just like you're walking into a storybook. And they carved out the sweetest little reading nooks so you could enjoy your time, privately, with a great story. There was a wonderful artistic mobile hanging over the area where you walk down to the children's area, and fun seating for storytime readings. And let's not miss out on the slide kids can go down to get to the children's area. What a fun idea! Hats off to whomever thought that one through! Every person I talked to in this library was genuinely nice. It truly felt like a safe and happy place to be - for both children and adults. I'm coming back with my grandchildren, and I already know it will be a great adventure for us all!

Wonderful library full of an entire bottom floor built for kiddos! I am seriously so impressed with it here in the middle of Downtown Garland. My two toddlers have had the best times here and looking forward to attending their story times and activities.

For dinner you can't go wrong getting the 10 oz filet medium rare. It always comes out cooked to perfection. On this occasion we stopped by on a gorgeous Thursday afternoon around 2:30 and were delighted to sit out on the patio and choose from their brunch menu. A Fabled Burger and Turkey-Chicken Club later, we were full and happy.

The owners personally created/decorated it and it's the most inventing space I have been to that serves two purposes - eating and reading. Walls of books greet you as you enter, along with big wooden tables and chairs with a desert bar set up. Wonderful! And when you go into the restaurant, there comfy books lined up along the wall, more table and chairs in the middle, and a touch of home with couches and table in front of the bar. And I don't want o miss out in the description of the restrooms - because they are something to see. A sliding door for the restrooms are books that have been arranged so you feel like you're in a somewhat magical feeder with. Oils arranged in fascinating shapes. They also have a separate room for events and meets - and wow! It's gorgeous too! It truly made me want to host an event here just to experience this room. The food is delicious and the waitstaff are great at making you feel comfortable and welcome. This might have been my first time in this restaurant, but it's just the start of many visits here.

Love this Barnes and Nobles in Garland!!…read more They have a pretty darn good selection of magazines, especially crafting, cooking, lifestyle, and women focused titles. The womens book section is also excellent, lots of fiction, self-care, and inspirational reads at reasonable prices. The Starbucks inside B&N is a huge plus. Grabbing a coffee while browsing magazines or purchasing a new book makes the experience relaxing and enjoyable. The store is clean, well organized, and has a comfortable atmosphere that encourages you to stay awhile. Definitely a go-to spot for book lovers and anyone who enjoys a good magazine and coffee break! They do have restrooms here. However, people are real pigs, so the restrooms aren't very clean. Ugh. The real Starbucks could take and learn a lot from them, never a botched drink, their selection of pastries and food is far superior to the regular Starbucks, no music to get in the way I will go out of my way to have a coffee and relax there than any Starbucks. Bookstore and combination with the coffee shop is just outstanding. Can't go wrong with this place where you want a cup of coffee or a book, or a puzzle yeah the prices are a little high but then again where aren't they today. would have rated them five stores, but it's a big store and there is or was checkout space at both ends of the store but the last couple years they've really only ever staffed the one side so you have to walk all the way to one end of the store to pay and then walk all the way back out the other end if you parked in the main parking lot.
