"Quiet" room in the front where no talking is allowed. It's kind of small with three tables
    Tina C.

The library I went to for the past 9 years or so. They have a great selection of books, magazines, DVDs, CDs, etc. and computers for patrons to use. I also appreciate how there are TONS of library events for ALL ages throughout the year. There are story times for the little ones, arts and crafts for kids, video game nights for teens, and reading clubs, Mahjong games, and technology classes for adults, as well as general events for families. Dates and times for such events are conveniently and easily found on their website. My only complaint is that this library is on the smaller end compared to other Plano libraries. Because of this, it's not the best place to sit and study, read, or work. Bummer. It gets pretty loud throughout the day, because the "quiet" rooms are near the Kids section, self-check out kiosks, and entrance, whereas the cubicle-like desks in the back are near open tables where tutoring happens. However, this library serves its function well and has plenty of resources to offer the community. Summary: ambiance (depends on what you're looking for) 3/5, service 5/5.

Today was family night. My kids really enjoyed the story and the puppet show. I found the staff in the childrens section very polite and helpful. They have ipads with kids games and 2 interactive tables with activities/coloring . My kids made new friends when exploring both. They picked their books and did the self checkout. Overall, a very good visit.

Wonderful, quaint, and child friendly library. The entire staff is sweet and friendly. Smaller library with a great children's section. The story time sessions are awesome!! An elaborate castle complete with fairies and princesses at the back of the kids' section marks the entrance to story time. Librarians are enthusiastic and excited to read and sing to the kids. Intimate setting that's less intimidating to smaller children. Will definitely be bringing my little girl back!

I try to bring my children to this library several times a month, mostly because I want them to get excited about reading and its close by my home. The childrens section has a very clean, simple floorplan which I appreciate since my youngest tends to explore a lot. The librarians seem friendly and are very helpful.

As many have mentioned the children's section is awesome though we have never attended any of the reading events.

I love bookstores and Libraries, and I've been lucky that until now, I have found ones I love. But…read morethe Richardson library just doesn't make me get excited to come into it. The children's book area has plenty of books, but there's a lack of imagination and creativity. Again, I'm just not inspired to want to walk around and engage with the books. It feels too sterile. I hope that makes sense.

The Richardson Public Library has been a staple in my life almost all of my life. I remember…read morecoming to here to research papers I was writing all the way back to my young school days. While the library is all the things a library should be and you would think it would be, the Richardson Public Library is SO much more... For example this past weekend they held "Eggstravaganza" which was essentially fun, games, and of course, an Easter egg hunt, for the kids. They also hold Mah Jongg lessons and host a Mah Jongg League, host computer classes, AI lessons, teach Excel, host job clinics, as well as several other events (check out my photo of the current and upcoming events calendar). These activities have been a great way for me to not only support them, but also re-connect with the community. The library is SO good in fact, last week they won the Achievement of Excellence in Libraries Award from the Texas Municipal Library Directors Association. Wgat's more is that this is their 20th year in a row of winning this honor...Congratulations Richardson Public Library and thank you to all the staff and volunteers for doing what you all do!!!

And I have lived in 6 states, visited several and been to plenty of libraries all over the place. My mouse for my laptop clicks so I don't want to use it, I'm sticking with the touch pad on my laptop. I am going to do everything in my power not to sneeze, cough or breathe too loud. I'm in libraries and coffee shops quite a lot and have grown accustomed to hearing children's chatter, music or phone conversations. Not here though, it's old school quiet like libraries of yesteryear. There is a large, wonderful area for children but on this side of the library you don't hear them. I love libraries this size. There are chairs, desks, tables, love seats, study rooms, media rooms, meeting rooms and even vending machines for your snack break. The restroom is nice, big and clean. And books, of course, they have a huge selection and if I moved to Collin County, which I probably won't, I would likely frequent this location. I don't know anything about this neighborhood but this library is really nice.

It gives you access to ALL libraries in Collin county. Everyone should have a library card! They use the Libby app. The most wonderful app at that too! Easy to use and people friendly. Links you to all libraries. They offer 3d images of mapping plans for children to make their on designs. How cool is that! It's all in house. I think that's awesome to get kids interested in technology at an early age. I wish more people would be interested in being part of a library. It's so cool to have access to knowledge. It's free!
