This is an amazing library! And it's beautiful to look at too! Anyone can get a card to use this library! Access everything on line or in person. It was time to get a library card that was mine! Was time to stop borrowing friend's cards. Why pay for books or buy books when your taxes, as a homeowner, offer you free book rentals! AMAZING!! I love to be read too and you can read a variety of books for free! The best bang for your buck! Really happy I discovered reading books again. Not sure why I ever slowed down. Collin County College is awesome! Simply need to go in person to apply for the card. It's so simple! It gives you access to ALL libraries in Collin county and the State of Texas. Everyone should have a library card! I wish more people would be interested in being part of a library. It's so cool to have access to knowledge. Pros: cool professors (mostly), clean campus, lots of seating, starbucks cons: the Starbucks I had ordered a cherry chai tea today and they ran out of chai, which in of itself is not a problem, so I got a matcha latte instead. They didn't even sweeten it. It just hates like bland milk and chai. I added sugar packets and still didn't taste sweet. AND the main thing is that it was understaffed. There were only two people there. This usually is the case for that location. At an active campus like this one and as someone with barista experience I would recommend 3 people on staff. maybe even 4 if it gets busier. There was a line that formed behind me when the employee explained that they ran out of chai. Combine how loud it was in there with the stress I assume they were going through from the build up of customers, no shit they got my drink wrong! as upset and annoyed as I am I want to blame those in charge for this and not the employees who were just trying their best. I know this page is for the campus itself but Idk where to review the Starbucks on campus so im doing it here, the campus itself is 4-5 stars but the Starbucks is 2-3. do better. read more

Easily the worst school in the North Texas area. DO NOT COME HERE, YOU WILL REGRET IT. The teachers either do not speak proficient English (they try to guilt you with wokeness to avoid pointing this out) AND/OR the teachers are not qualified to even teach preschoolers. Some are WFH and you never see them at all! Dimitrios Sellountos in particular is the worst teacher in the history of the profession, and Victoria Harris-Karnes is a complete joke of an administrative designee. The campus is filthy, the school is NOT safe (they had a shooting in 2025 but it was in the nearby apartments between hoodlums who were somehow accepted into Collin lmao). Truly a horrible place, pay the extra money to take the basics at the school you're getting your undergrad or go to NCTC, ANYTHING is better than Collin College. Oh- and it is VERY common for nearly every single page on their website to be "404" with no remedy in sight. The advisors are as helpful as receiving advice from a rock, the registrar takes a century to reply to you and are always "that's not my job" with their replies. I have had nothing but headache after headache attending this godforsaken joke of an institution. I have so many wonderful memories of Collin College. Does EVERY school have 1 million complaints about Advisors, cost, scheduling, communication, offerings, campus size - yes. At the end of the day, a great institution that is designated as a Community College should be measured on accreditation, credit transfer ability, and most importantly, how well you are prepared for the university level. Keep in mind, the biggest piece of that puzzle is YOU, but a great Community College will give you a roadmap, and some skills to take with you. I went in with my eyes set on Broadcast Journalism, and exited with a career plan to do Social Work. This was the product or counseling, career planning and preparation, invested instructors and an expanded worldview - all of which I obtained at Collin, and at a great price, all things considered. Today, I am that Licensed Master Social Worker working in Criminology that Collin sent me out to be. For that, I am grateful. Each year I have the pleasure of attending the North Texas Facing Family Violence Conference, and it alwats provides the opportunity to revisit a venue that holds so many of my greatest memories of being a college student, and some Professors that shaped my career indelibly. At various points in my life I attended Dallas County Colleges, Trinity Valley Community College and Tarrant County College, but none were as enjoyable for me as Collin. read more

While video advising might be what the advisors prefer at Collin College, its dysfunction is frustrating for the student. After waiting in line behind 25 people for 2 hours, I was kicked off the queue when I was 5th in line. Now I'm starting over 26th in line again. Will I make it through? So far the system has taught me that there are glitches and getting through is not guaranteed. No problem for the advisors. The more people that get kicked off the less people they have to deal with. Helping my little sister navigate the application/admissions process and we had a few questions. She emailed the international office with 3 questions and they gave her a vague response. They only answered 1/3 questions and that response didn't give her any alternatives. I then decided to contact the Admissions office on her behalf and the lady was so rude and unpleasant. One thing a customer representative should not do is use the phrase "that's what I am trying to tell you" or "like I said before" and this lady kept saying that. I know for a fact that if my sister had to go through this process alone, it would be hell because clearly these departments are unhelpful. I have been through so many college and university admission processes and so I know the only reason she's making progress is because of the insights that I have. I haven't been to this college in years and I have finally come to terms that I have trauma from this college. I had three teachers who would bully me in front of the classes. I gave up only one class away from passing with an AS. Not worth going back honestly. I even tried going to the Dean but was told by the office that he wouldn't see me that I could fill a paper and have my teacher fill the other side and turn it in but that makes me even more of a target in class and nobody wants to make things harder on themselves. The first one was a nutrition teacher who made fun of those students who went to the testing center. He called those students "attention seekers" and went on for half an hour. Right after that, I realized why he went on that tangent. The whole class. He called my name and told me my test was at the testing center. Apparently it burdened him so much and inconvenienced him so much he had to speak about me like that in front of the whole class. I never returned to his class but it was too late to drop out so I showed up for tests and that was it. My grade took a slight hit but I passed still with a C so I guess he wasn't a good teacher to begin with if I didn't even need to be in the class at all or learn the material to pass. ‍ The next teacher I sadly had to take multiple times. I have a really hard time with math and this was for some reason the only teacher my academic advisors wanted me to take. He would call me out for looking like I was falling asleep in class. I told him I was tired because I worked three jobs and did school full-time because I was in a bad home situation. He laughed at me and said "try having three kids". I never showed to his class and failed expecting to take the hit on my record and get another teacher. Turns out he was the only one teacher summer math classes. I had left one job to get more rest and he made a comment the first day of summer classes because I had to wait an hour and was late because I didn't have the $15 buy the textbook access online. My mom had to drive to the college to loan me the money. I had no respect for his snarky attitude. He made it seem like college students weren't allowed to be tired or go through tough times and I was young and naive enough to start believing him. There was another teacher that talked bad about the "younger generation" and multiple students were upset but we just agreed she was an old lady who was behind the times and we all just let it go. I was behind on homework because of work and she said we had that day to do more work to get ahead. I was only one point away from passing and I had Spanish class after hers. I remember seeing her after Spanish class and telling her I was going to do as much as I could the rest of the day for her class and she said too bad the grades are already in. I told her that wasn't fair for students like me that had another class and she shrugged and didn't care. I've had so many horrible teachers at this college that I gave up college all together because I couldn't handle hearing so many horrible things. If you don't have a choice in colleges and money is an issue- this college is cheap and affordable. But remember- it's cheap and affordable for a REASON. Also- don't bother talking to the academic advisors. They don't know what they are doing. I learned to email advisors from other colleges and tell them what my situation is and they usually will give me better answers. One academic advisor at Collin told me to take a structural geology class when I wanted to go into medicine because "science is science" and they just said any science would be good for me. Ironically- that one teacher ended up being the only amazing teacher I have seen at this school! He was so passionate and cared about geology that I didn't mind the class and he even helped when students didn't want to spend a lot of money on the textbooks. He would accept us taking pictures of the textbook from other people if we didn't mind writing down the questions and our answers. It was a bit more work but I saved a ton that way! read more

This school is a joke for distance learning students. I had an issue. I called in to speak with staff and was given different information five times with each staff member I spoke with. They are inconsistent and will lie. I am sure they can see that a student is enrolled in distance learning, and they will still tell you that you have to come to one of the campuses to bring information. Sadly, I live in Florida and will NEVER drive or take a flight to Texas to bring one document. The inconsistency is ridiculous. They are antiquated and have no system for students to upload documents, which is ridiculous because almost all schools, even high schools, have that capability. Once this semester is over, I WILL NOT return. I only gave the 1 star, which was the lowest I could go. I do NOT recommend this school. You may have better luck if you are in Texas. Horrible, the advisors don't like to do their job and you can never get ahold of anyone!! They canceled my classes without even telling me, no email or anything! I live an hour and a half away, I've been calling everyday to speak to someone about adding on some quick classes so I don't have to miss this whole semester but they don't care ABOUT THE STUDENTS AND WANT TO SEE YOU FAIL!!! I'm a transfer and wish I would've never transferred here, on top of that they dropped 7 of my electives transferring over here but I can take them again to get credit for them???? My son's housing apartment was flooded by an upstairs apartment and the situation was handled so rude and unprofessional by Colby the housing on-site manager. He needs to take a course in customer service and needs to under the disability act. I will be seeking legal counsel concerning his blatant disregard to my son's disability. My son was not properly accommodated for a situation he did not cause. All of his belongings were destroyed and ruined by this flood and Colby was so unconcerned and could care less. I explained to him that we are paying for a single dorm and he replied that he did not care and decided he was going to put my son in a roomed dorm with two other strangers. When to this college for many years and the admissions and academic advisors are terribly under staffed and some just don't care to help. I have had to do everything on my own, and as a new college student this was very difficult. 99% of the time they don't even answer the phone, I am actually trying to get a hold of someone now. Everyone one I know that has gone to Collin has hated it. Some professors were very good which I am sad they have to work for such a bad university, but other professors were awful, and I dropped many courses. I HAVE BEEN TO 2 OTHER COLLEGES AND THIS IS THE WORST ONE. If you have a choice not to go here- please don't- or at least choice a different location. I have gotten more help from the Wylie campus then from the spring creek campus that I went to. I also cannot return my books with out my student ID. My purse was stolen with my school ID so I only had my regular ID and student #, but they will not accept that so I am being charged + late fees for all of my books. Oh and the issue was rhat the student ID place was closed when they should have been open so I was backed into a corner to pay for books. I am now at CU Boulder and have felt so much relief because there is guidance and help for their students. read more

I'm so thankful for my time at Collin. Saved a lot of money but it can also be pretty lonely. Here, I got involved in a college ministry called FOCUS that changed my whole college experience, and for that I'm forever thankful. I made friendships here that followed me to UNT (they have focus there too) and made me realize it was worth investing in friendships and community despite that fact that I was at a community college. 10/10 would recommend for the great tuition and student orgs. read more

I had a pretty amazing experience overall at Collin College Student Housing, but there were some pretty big setbacks that made me rate this place 4 out of 5 stars. First, the community and most of the people I knew were awesome especially during my first year, but during my second year there, a lot of my neighbors had moved out due to similar setbacks. I will say that we had good maintenance teams and bad maintenance teams, but the most recent team seemed to step it up since getting hired. The main reasons why I was so ready to leave up to move out day was because right when the spring semester ends, for two weeks, you have to completely move out all of your stuff because of "deep cleaning" even if you were keeping your unit for the summer. And they didn't provide emergency housing. Like come on guys, some people have no other place to go like if they're from out of the country. The second issue I had was the meal plan. Most of the food wasn't freshly made or thoroughly cooked and you could easily tell that breakfast and lunch toppings had been sitting out for multiple days straight. When they renovated and bought the place, they took out the full kitchen because they were so big about meal plans and making the college money off of them. I literally stopped buying the cafe food 98% of the time my last semester because I was so done with them saying they were going to make improvements last school year but they never did. Another issue was the laundromat. I had to start doing laundry at my parents house because people would leave their laundry in the machines overnight, and we were not allowed to move them to finish our loads "until a staff member took care of it themselves." Not to mention they meant next morning!! Then in the summer, they started charging us for loads. I think that solved the problem, but this really didn't apply to me because I was doing laundry at my parents' house at this point. Lastly, this may be student housing, but it is an actual apartment complex surrounding a community college campus full of a variety of types of people... THEREFORE THIS COMMUNITY SHOULD BE GATED! PERIOD!!! I was stalked multiple times due to issues with bad friends and them bringing their drama into student housing. It did help that the police were there monitoring the complex every 30 minutes doing drive-through's. Despite all the issues, most of the time I had a really good experience in student housing. I would recommend it for first year or second year students, but not the next year because of the move out policy in May. read more

Everytime you ask a staff member a question they always have an attitude or will immediately tell you to just look online instead of actually helping. I feel bad for the professors. Every single member of the administrative staff from the bottom to the deans I have dealt with are inept. Every single semester there is a massive issue due to the administration that causes me not to end up getting enrolled in the proper class. EVERY SINGLE SEMESTER without fail...the only luck I have had getting in touch with them consistently is the zoom room. This is a joke of a college. I am a veteran with memory loss issues and dyslexia. The college wants me to pay thousands out of pocket for doctors to re-test and re-evaluate before they will allow me any accommodations. They are just fine collecting money from the federal government, but do not do their part at all. I ended up, after complaining, a call from a dean, but he was no help. Instead, it felt that I was my fault I couldn't navigate the complex bureaucratic system they have in place for veterans and/or persons with special needs. This summer semester is my final time here. I have already found a far better college that was 1 email, was able to get accommodations without the red tape. Collin College is nothing more than a joke. read more

Most of the professors here are really good. I have only had one bad professor and her name is rachel jona tudor. She wouldn't help our class pass her own class. Don't take professor Tudor for any of your English classes because she's the worst professor ever. We were in her class and sat in awkward silence for 1hr 15 min. And if you email her she won't email back. She was the weirdest professor I have ever had. If you want a really good English professor get Lisa Kirby. She always emails back and will help you if you need it. The library here is big and a nice place to study. If you bring your id to the gym you can use the gym. If you go to the events in the conference center you might get extra credit from your professor. Look on rate my professor before you select a professor. read more

In hind sight I should have written this review years ago. Although the architecture is nice, this place is a joke. The teachers here are lack luster at best. The administration is hard to get a hold of. Academic advisory and counselling is equally useless. The only thing anyone in this school is good for is taking money. Everyone working here with the possible exception of the librarians, food handlers, and custodians are a massive waste of tax payer dollars used to even build the campus. I'm pretty sure the custodians and food handlers work for a separate company. Thankfully I left this school before wasting a full year there. I spent over the next decade trying to pay off loans I didn't even know I had, which my parents decided not to pay for as they promised to. I paid for my first transcript somewhere between 2006 and 2009. However they claim they have no record of me ever ordering it. Probably because I had to drive 50+ miles to purchase it in person. It wasn't until I finally paid off my loans, that I finally found out it wasn't even the full transcript. I was informed by the Dept. of Education staff, that I was legally entitled to a full refund for the classes I didn't pass, but I would need to get my full transcript first to do that. I also spoke to several people including the DA and the Lieutenant Governor. At which point I was told they had to provide it for free by law even though they rarely ever do. Since then they have bounced me around between several different departments for the last few years. I've spoken with just about every department in the entire county school district by this point, either by phone, email or in person. In the last year or so I've been told that I have to wait for every form of delay from COVID lock-downs to winter storms. Now they tell me I can order a full transcript for $5 even though by the time I get it the semester will be over and I'll have to start the whole process over again after the end of Summer break. if you want to save yourself the headache, don't go here. I don't know a single person who actually got a respectable degree from this never ending money pit. Although a few people have been fortunate enough to tranfer to a decent school from here. read more

This school is the reason why people like me wait until the very last minute to talk to advisors. They have children/students who are part-time or full-time advisors, are you serious? And their advice sucks, all these kids basically do (im 24) is send people back home even after a 2hr wait. I went to UTD to talk to an advisor for a whole hour for a degree plan and I wasn't even a UTD student and I still got all the help I needed at a school I hadn't even attended yet. Idk what these kids plan to be one day if all they're good at is figuring out what they're going to eat for lunch. Admissions is pretty bad too, depends on who you run into. If you want great service and register in under 20 minutes go to the McKinney campus! Also, when I first transferred to the school I turned in all my VA paperwork in. However, they never faxed in my documents. Two days into class, the Plano campus didnt know where any of my paperwork went. Collin College is an amazing community college. Quite frankly the smartest decision I have made as I move higher in my education. Collin College offers the lowest tuition in the state of Texas, which you would never expect seeing as though their facilities are very renovated and always maintained. I've visited many community colleges and Collin College definitely has the nicest campuses; WE ARE SPOILED. The quality education is also GREAT! In fact, Collin College professors have won more Carnegie Professor of the Year recognitions than Cornell, Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Johns Hopkins, Georgetown, Rice, TCU and UT. We also have three Texas and three U.S. Professors of the Year, which is outstanding and should be noted for all who believe that you do not receive a quality education at a community college. I personally have been mentored by so many of my professors and advisors who have gone out of their way to help me succeed in and outside of the classroom. Collin College also has so many services free and readily available for all students including counseling, writing, math, science, accounting tutoring, gym facilities, career services, and much more. The student organizations are incredibly involved in service projects and other leadership opportunities that have also helped them receive national recognitions. WE COMPETE WITH UNIVERSITIES all over the country! I am so proud to have spent my first two years at Collin College. The opportunities it has provided me with have been endless and today I am moving on to a new stage of my education and I am so grateful of this College for preparing me so well and making me so much better. read more

I feel that I got a high quality education here at Collin College. The professors are so knowledgeable and really take the time to make sure their students succeed. The classes are so cheap so I find it worth it to attend your first 2 years here instead of a university right away because you'll be getting the same courses for a small fraction of what universities charge. This is of course if you have no scholarships and grants. While I took most of my courses at the Preston Ridge Campus, I still had to go to Spring Creek quite often. The parking was a little hectic if you have classes mid-day. They built a new library which is so nice..and very much needed. It looks like they are also doing renovations within the building, so that should be nice to see when it's done. If you are looking to stay close to home in Collin County, this would be highly recommended. I feel like this place was much much more than a community college. I miss it very much! read more

Parking can be somewhat of a bear when classes are in session, but a little walking never hurt anyone. The food was wonderful - well above what I'd expected. One of the greatest things about this school is convenience. There are about 4 locations all throughout the Collin County area, so wherever you live, you have a college to make an easy commute to. If you want to register for a particular class, and it's full, you have more than enough backup to register for the same of the many classes they have available. Worst case scenario - you'll have to go to a different campus to take all the classes you need. Rule of thumb - register early. The early bird gets the worm. I attended this college straight after graduating high school in 2008. Never did I consider attending a university right away because the same classes available here are just a minuscule fraction of what a university costs. I'm attending UTD now (transfer made easily by Collin) and classes there are ridiculously expensive. Be financially smart. If you had to make the choice between taking core classes at Collin at roughly $100 each and taking the SAME classes at any other university for roughly $1,800+ each class, which would you choose? If you have a brain, there's no need for me to answer that for you. If you have scholarships for a university, disregard the question. Though it's been 2 years since I've stepped foot into this college I heard the Spring Creek campus went under major renovations and has a new library. If I could remember last, the library back then was utter crap and depressing-looking. Ah, I wish they made that renovation when I was still there - it would've boosted my motivation and learning experience...I kid, but still... I don't have much to complain about. This school has all what you need to build a foundation on your educational plan. The only downside is that, if you want to look super brilliant on paper, graduate from a university instead. I think they have a university program here, but I am still uncertain you could get a Bachelors/Masters or PhD from Collin College - that kind of sounds silly. read more

I had two different accounts. I paid, and took the TSI for nothing, because since they took so long to get me my account logins the classes I need to take are full. You get what you pay for. Because of one change this past semester, Collin College has created a massive barrier to success for any student in any class with any professor. The school changed their software to "Canvass". This software is theoretically supposed to provide the communication infrastructure for each class for grading/assignment posting/group discussions/professor communication/syllabus updates/ etc etc. This software is a confusing mess and it was made worse by apparently no training for either students or professors. It's not intuitive and it's too user-defined which means every professor can use it differently so you need training to use it - but none was apparently provided. Last semester only about 20% of professors posted anything online (including your grades!) Most professors just skip using it. It's worse if teachers do post assignments/ grades/comments/syllabus's online because then students are expected to access that information but "Canvass" is too confusing. It's a labyrinth. There are no standards for how the multitude of tabs will be used and students can and do miss important info that a professor has posted because it's not intuitive. Worst of All: No one has any idea what their grades are. No way to tell what your cumulative grade in a class is as the semester progresses because the professors don't use it or if they do it's different for each class/professor. Students who don't create their own weighted excel spreadsheet for each class do not know (and neither do the professors) what your grades are as the semester progresses. I have 3 family members that took a total of 7 classes at Collin this past semester so I know what I'm talking about. Only 2 of the 7 professors used Canvass and the 2 that did use it used it wildly differently from each other. This place is a rip off. Went here for one semester...will never go here again. For one, they never help you with anything. They are rude and completely unethical. The teachers do nothing to help you. It was a miracle anyone passes anything here. Not to mention that when I began my classes I was told that all my tuition had been paid and there was no balance left... then a year later when I try to go to another college all of a sudden I owe them $500 and I am blocked from transcripts or anything else until I paid them... I never received any notice of this until I went to get my transcript... This place shouldn't even be a legally accredited college... I'm 23, started at Collin County last semester and have been taking Express classes. I love my professor, the hours and the cost! I get one on one time with my professor; I can email her and she emails back within 24 hours. I go to school all day on saturday 8:30-3:45 but it's worth it! I have a lot of homework so I stay busy during the week but I really enjoy it. There are many different schedules that fit busy schedules or even if you can go full time, you just have to register early. I hate to see comments of people who complain that there are no times...classes go fast here and especially the ones with the best hours...so apply early!! Advisors rock!! The first one I saw, printed out all the requirements I needed that were able to transfer to UNT or UTD! They have a great transferable program now, and they are even opening a location off of 121 where students can get a Bachelors/Masters/PH D. I'm in county so each class is $109 and I get my books from amazon.com for like $15 bucks. I am definately saving a lot of money.... Additonal perks I attend the spring creek location, 10 minutes from my house Writing Center Library gives you $30 back to be able to print things off in the computer lab in case you don't have a printer. Easily the worst Collin Campus. They cancelled my whole class without notifying me in anyway. On top of that it took me calling 12 times before anyone bothered to pick up the phone. When I finally got on the line I was put on hold for 8 minutes. I understand they could be busy but I called during Winter semester... THEY AREN'T BUSY! I ended up having to drive all the way to the school to get a simple refund. I am absolutely baffled by their lack of costumer service and low standards for themselves. I will never pick up another class at this location. Save your money and your time! read more
