Went to visit my new home library today! I LOVE reading real books, holding a book in my hands is something that hasn't ever been lost on me although I do love podcasts and audible I primarily utilize those during times where I'm moving and can't hold a book (walks, hikes, etc.). I came in to get my library card and put a hold on a certain title I'd been waiting on before relocating, which to my surprise will arrive tomorrow! I checked out a couple other titles to read around the pool this week. Service at the front counter was the absolute sweetest and most helpful! I'll definitely be stopping in monthly and look forward to checking out some of their events and book clubs. read more

Unfortunately had a bad experience lately. We rented a movie and was very excited to watch it. The DVD kept skipping every 3 minutes and was unbearable. Stopped halfway and ruined experience completely. Also the Children's area is very crowded at times with oblivious or unfit parents either clogging or letting their little ones clog up the aisle-way. Staffers don't seem to do anything to rectify this. read more

I love this library!!! I've spent many hours here perusing the aisles of books. Each time I've come in, the staff has been incredibly friendly, their services/ classes offered have been reflective of diversity + inclusion, and the process of navigating the library has been so efficient (bonus points for them using the last 4 digits of your phone number as your password to check out books; that makes it quick & easy). Some of my other favorite features of the library are: their 'study pod' seating upstairs, the updated computers, the digital equipment that can be used with room rental, study rooms that can be reserved, and the location (this library is right next to my favorite pocket of Plano that has a plethora of Asian restaurants & markets including my favorite Asian Bakery/ tea spot: Sweet Hut). All in all, this library may not look glamorous with its industrial look from the outside, but it's a gem inside! I highly recommend checking it out!!! read more

Nice library for kids books. They hold some kids activities and events regularly. Some of the programs could use some polishing as sometimes my kids tune out and get bored by the content. Other times they have a blast with the hands-on activities. read more

2024 - Bad General Election vote setup is cramped, suffocating, & annoying! Volunteers do NOT manage the few moron voters who block machines & exit door ways! Noticed voters here are minimal English, oblivious to others trying to vote and get out. Waited 30 minutes outside to get in, behind an old, asian male with BAD body odor & his 2 compaions. They blocked one of two mballot machines, took up the full exit way walking slow. slowly walking out. Then, a white, lrg, male stood chatting with ethe sticker woman, blocking getting out. A Chinese male in next voting stall asked staff what the ONE party was! A staff male had to tell him it was not ONE Party! Was he a US citizen? Volunteers should handle people blocking machines, getting around, and exits! Weak set up. read more

Terrible! They are notorious for claiming you damaged a book even though it came to you in that damaged condition. make sure to take time stamped pictures the day you pick your books up otherwise they will get away with it. read more

I've only had one visit to Haggard for a last minute print job. The staff was nice and eager to help. The only issues I faced were: 1) I couldn't use my own resume paper (colored not plain white) to print. 2) The printer did not correctly align the page so everything came out in an angle (waste of money). 3) .15 cents a page? Last I checked most libraries charged .10 cents, doesn't seem like much but seeing as it's normally free at my apts (office was closed), I really didn't want to pay that over & over just to see if the printer could print my jobs the right way. So ultimately, I just bit the bullet & threw the jobs away. Who wants to present lopsided pages before the board? However, since this library is just 5-10 mins from my home. I will come back just to check out books that's if they even have the books I'm interested in. May be better off going to Parr since the selection didn't seem as large. Anyhow, it serves it's purpose if needed. read more

Very disappointed with this library. I just moved here from The Woodlands and people keep telling me that Plano is like The Woodlands. Well, In The Woodlands they allow you to use the computer lab. Here they will not. I have so much backed up work to do with little time to do it and I need to print about 4 documents. I explained to him that our apartment in Plano isn't ready yet and that we are staying in McKinney and that I even work in Plano but they still wouldn't let me use the computer lab. Pretty dumb in my opinion. Libraries are supposed to support the community. Haggard Library, you have failed. read more

I spent countless hours here between the ages of 13 and 16. Besides being a nerdy academic kid, and also having librarian-bent career aspirations, my best friend's parents were super strict and wouldn't let her hang out anywhere but the library... once we could drive, we still came here to study, but not just to hang out and check out adolescent boys. Yes, mostly to check out boys, but not solely. Once, at age 14, we got out our house keys, jangled them to make it seem like we were walking "to our car," and then hid in the parking lot until a cute boy from school left. Sigh, memories. We got lots of work done here, and the librarians were handy if we needed some reference. Comfy chairs, ample seating, nice lighting, good research materials and a great magazine collection. Reason for 5-stars -- Librarians are always so nice and helpful. -- Free book rentals. What's better than free? -- Free movie rentals. Again, what's better than free? -- Pretty low late fees. Late fees on books are .25/day and movies are $1/day. You get to keep your movies for a week and your books for 3 weeks. I think the best feature is that you can request anything and the library will call/email you when it is ready for pick-up. Also, you can access your account on-line and review your material to avoid late fees. read more

Love this place. Have been coming here since high school. So much better than Davis library, which has turned into a social gathering place for high school kids who wanna be cool and talk rudely in the lobby. GAHD NO RESPECT.... Anyways, Haggard has a very wide arrangement of books and resources, with a large amount of computer for you to use. There are also several quiet study rooms that you can use as we as a dedicated quiet study area. The Asian books/videos have all been gathered in this library on the second floor, so if your family happens to enjoy those materials, you will find a comfortable selection upstairs. The librarians here are also fairly nice. Of course, there CAN be exceptions (just like anywhere else), but for the most part, they do a good job helping you out. You can also print/scan things, which is awesome. Overall, I love this library... maybe I'm a nerd? haha read more

I love the layout of this library, but the people who visit it, not so much. The library has a lot of resources and events that happen. (From book sales to Pokemon card tournaments.) There are several computers and plenty of places to sit. The only problem is that people don't seem to respect the sanctity of libraries anymore. The library has a "quiet zone" study room meant for silence, but careless people go in their with their cellphones on or eat loud bags of chips. Plus, because of this room everyone who is outside of it thinks it is okay to talk on their phones and play things without headphones. Even the librarians have loud conversations at their desks sometimes. So if you come here, just don't be afraid to ask (or tell) people to be respectful of the space, or ask a librarian to do it for you. Also, don't be one of those people. (You're better than that.) If I could add one thing, it would be an email that you can email with noise complaints about people in the library to the librarians. read more

I love the library anyway. But this one is light and open. The staff is helpful. Parking is good. The Plano system is great about inter-library loans and can always get the book I'm looking for. They have an easy self-checkout system. Print the receipt so you remember what you took and when it's due. Nice high limit on books. Late fees in DVDs are KILLER. But most everything can be renewed on line so you can avoid being late. They also have email notifications to help you remember. read more

I got some sheets of blank computer paper to write on to prepare a lecture I was going to teach this week. Except a librarian, a lady with short blond hair, said that I needed to pay 10 cents for each sheet of paper. I thought you had to pay 10 cents if you printed on the paper. I did the math and if I were to buy computer paper from retail per sheet of paper, it could come out to 3 cents per page. This is ridiculous. I am being charged 3 times as much for blank computer paper, even when I pay my taxes to the city. The librarians at Davis and other Plano libraries always give me paper to write on when I come, but never have I been charged so absurdly for blank computer paper. Haggard needs to set some policy regarding use or purchase of blank computer paper. Or investigate why the librarians at Haggard are charging tax-payers 10 cents per sheet of paper. read more

I come to this library at least 3 times a week. I frequently place books on hold and they are always there for me. The patrons of the library have changed significanly since I first started going there, which is different. I feel out of place as one of the few caucasian customers. Just an observation. Having small children, I truly appreciate the outside drop off. It has been closed the past few days due to "construction" and I find this frustrating, but am sure it is a temporary obstacle. The self checkout is fantastic. I can be in and out of there in no time at all. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I will be moving out of the area soon and Plano library system is something I will most definately miss! read more

I cannot speak for the availability of all the research materials/books necessary for a comprehensive research paper. However, in terms of the majority of the staff, location, cleanliness and available seating...this library is just right. Friendly and helpful librarians for the most part. If you wish for maximum quiet visit the bottom floor. They are sometimes closed early or for an extra day added on to a typical holiday...strange compared to other local libraries (ie Dallas etc). I have found myself pulling up to the library on more than a few occasions, along with a number of other visitors, only to find this location closed for some odd reason...as in closed early the day before a holiday, or closed for an "extra" day on top of the typical holiday that schools are out. Strange and inconvenient. Have not found this to be the case with other cities such as Dallas and Richardson. This library feels like a familiar friend in many ways though, comfortable and predictable with the oddball dysfunctional occurrence now and then(like the rude librarian downstairs in basement who essentially threw a tissue box over to me with a look of sheer irritation on her face when I quietly and nicely asked her if I may have a tissue) that keeps you on your toes. There is a gentleman librarian downstairs in the basement who is incredibly kind and thoughtful. While there is a woman who I have encountered down there on occasion who is curt, unfriendly and looks like she has been licking a lemon. read more

We really enjoy this library; the staff and programs are great. They also have STEAM kits as well as musical instruments to check out.

So, I'm sitting here in the parking lot of Haggard library on a Sunday, when they should be open, livid because they are closed! Why!? Today isn't a holiday! Tomorrow is Memorial Day! They also have the outside book return locked! Ummm I thought that was the point, so you could return books when they are closed! And I'm watching car after car drive up thinking they are open. Terrible, it's unfortunate you're limited to the library where you reside! And it's a total waste of gas! I just looked over and saw that this site said it was open now! Not true! read more

The only complaint about this library I have is organization of kids events. No matter what activity they have planned for kids, it is always unorganized and too crowded. Take for example Chinese moon festival they had yesterday. On website it says chinese/english storytime. when story time started, Chinese lady read 3 books in chinese. All american, indian and other families where like " what is going on". I called library the next day and talked to the lady who was reading books. She told me because it was too crowded ( like they didn't know) she didn't have time to translate. What a disappointment for poor kids who had to sit there for 25 min not understanding a word. I forgot to mention, the only reason kids (who didn't understand chinese) waited, because they had craft at the end. Otherwise, they all have left as soon as story time started. read more

I've only been here once to pick up something that my usually library (Davis) didn't have. It seemed a lot bigger than Davis and to have more selection. Parking is definitely much better. I love the Plano library system because I always see various events going on for kids and the whole family. Most, if not all.. are free as well. We've never been able to try one out, but my neighbor is at pretty much all of them and has nothing but rave reviews. The Plano library online system is really awesome as well, you can reserve items, renew, and more online. Love the convenience! read more

This library is wonderful. It has everything you might wish for. Almost anything you can read or hear is there. Books, magazines, DVDs, and CDs are on the list. They also sell items too. They have computers if you need one. They will get you interstate books. I once got one from Colorado. I was amazed. Checkout is a breeze with their autosystem. They tend to you at once, if you have a question. These folks must go to a "Kind and Helpful" school when they study for their vocation. I have been going to the library for 60 years every where I have been and this is one of the finest I've seen. I will stop now because I could go on for 20 pages easily. Called the library regarding the book drop and they said that's it's open 24/7 except on holidays.

I really like the ability to place a book on hold and pick it up when it is ready. What I don't like about this library is that they have limited hours that they are open. They close early on the weekends and open too late every day. In addition, they are closed on every semi-major holiday, often for the entire 3 day weekend; guess what people... this is exactly when I have the most time to actually go to the library! Lastly, and most irritating to me, I don't know why they lock the drive-through book return on some weekends. Even if the library is closed the book drop should be open. Seriously, why not let us return books at any time that is convenient? read more
