I'm a volunteer with my therapy dog at this library. We've been volunteering for about four years. The staff has always treated us very kindly, and thanked us for coming. They have very good communication and emails for my schedule way ahead of time. They have always treated Joy, the therapy dog, extra special! Extremely excited service from everyone in this place always a pleasure going to the library!

I am a school librarian and I like visiting libraries in my area to get ideas for organization and just see what is going on so that I can tell the students about available resources in the area. I visited this library today with my family.This was a highly impressive and very welcoming library from the get-go. It has a café and there is on the upper floor a terrace where you can sit at a table and read in a very beautiful part of downtown Rockwall. The entrance to the children's section was a pseudo-rock wall. Well done. They had a room dedicated to donated books to take one and leave one. The library was very clean and the staff seemed friendly. The layout inside was such that the different sections were very easy to locate and identify. They have a lot of meeting rooms available. They offer a wide variety of programs for all ages and interests. We wished that this was our neighborhood library because if it were we would return again and again just for the atmosphere. read more

Oddly, I've never gone here for a book or anything related to books..... But did you know that you recycle here? You can! Cardboard (we bring our Amazon boxes here) and other things as well. Additionally, this is the place that I go to vote! Lastly, there is a walking track here behind the library. It's rocks, but nonetheless a walking track. read more

I called the library to ensure printing was available through use of the computers, the staff informed me yes and they closed at 8 p.m. at this time I headed over from Forney the neighboring city, less than 10 minutes away. I arrived and greeted the receptionist and she was friendly. I asked her "If I was able to use the computer only to print out my resume for job applications" due to my only other resources having no toner. I arrived in person, She asked with a smile still if I lived in Rockwall, I notified her I was from Forney 10 minutes away. Still with a smile she said "Well since youre outside of the city it will be 20 dollars."... I reitterated "20 dollars?" and she stated with a smile still "20 Dollars, Im sorry." This is the most rediculous abuse of a public building I have encountered I am a 10 year veteran, homeless and with only 5 dollars to my name and my account in the negative... I used my gas to make it to this location to attempt to find and apply a job... but somehow because I dont have 20 dollars to access my email and then print. I am denied outright. Ive never been humiliated for being so poor at an outdated place like a library. Rockwall hit a new low. read more

My experience in Texas has led me to believe that someone dared Texas to build some libraries, so they did. They serve no greater purpose than that. This is based on the sad state of the Austin system. It's also based on the fact that libraries should be run by the county and not the city, so that a greater system can be created and all areas can be served. So here I am, all the way out in Rockwall. Most of you don't even know where that is. It's a small town, that's grown quickly into a retail chain mecca and cheap subdivisions on tiny lots. But I digress... My point is- I expected nothing. But in Rockwall, there is a pretty and new library. It has new books, DVDs, a huge kid's section, computers, internet access, a cafe (snort! had you there? that's what the sign says, but really it's a vending machine!), helpful librarians, and comfy chairs. I know, I'm shocked too. I've found some newly released books that I never expected to see. You can renew your books online (if you set up a pin), but so far they have not advanced to reserving books online. Also they send out courtesy reminders when your books are due. My complaint is that they send them out on the actual due date, I think it would be more helpful if they sent it out the day before. But that's just me.... This is a bit of a gem; go check it out! read more

Today I was sitting outside Hobby Lobby in Rockwall waiting for a ride home because I had lost my keys (don't ask...) So I'm browsing on my phone when I see it trying to connect to a wi-fi network. Curious, I go into my settings and see that it's trying to connect to the Rockwall Library wi-fi network. Seriously do you have any idea how far the library is from the Hobby Lobby in terms of wireless network connectivity? You can see the library from Hobby Lobby but holy crap. What the heck kind of wi-fi equipment do they have going that my phone can detect it at freakin Hobby Lobby? I don't recommend standing within a few yards of it wherever the hub is located... Anyway, the library is nice and big. I love that the kids books are on a different floor than the adult books. You won't find a better place to study for an exam in the Lake Ray Hubbard area. I love you Rowlett but your city library just doesn't compare to the Rockwall County library. read more

This is one of the best libraries in my area. They have a free baby bounce class, singing, finger play, puppets, story time and free play, on Tuesdays in the summer this year (2019) that is more like a paid class that you would get somewhere else. The children's area is magnificent with lots of books, lots of places to sit and read, a few toys here and there for little ones, and even a teen area that has a couple computers and board games. There is a small café area that has a vending machine and a couple places to sit and snack on food while you're using the free Wi-Fi or reading a book. They also have an outdoor patio area downstairs and upstairs they're not always open so you just have to check. read more

Compared to other nearby libraries, the children's department is not great. There's only one sad little toy and storytimes are lacking compared to others. I have 2 small children and we rarely go, instead we go to Sachse and Forney. read more

2016 Yelp 100 Challenge Review #96 I didn't even know about this new library which is sort of weird being that I regularly vote here but never bothered to visit the actual library. I finally came in after needing to find a quiet place to work. I had some deadlines looming and I needed quiet focus. This library is two-stories. The kids, teens, and Spanish sections are downstairs along with the restrooms and a small café with snack and coffee vending machines. Upstairs is where every other section is located. Also, my favorite part - there are about five private cubicles. They are mainly for group meetings but if they are empty you can work in there as a single. This was great for me because I had a lot of materials to lay out and I needed to do some out loud thinking. It was heaven. There were white boards too but I didn't need it. There are plugs and a trash can in each room along with the table and pretty comfortable work chairs. I definitely plan to return any time I want to get some quiet concentration to work. I like this option. But as always, if you plan on working for hours, bring a sweater. It is the library after all. There is no eating allowed except for the downstairs café. read more

I love this library- very nice, clean and the kids section is spectacular....however, it is so cold in there, it is really difficult to work. I love working in libraries but this is ridiculous how cold it is- and it is chilly outside. Please adjust the thermostat! read more

The story time book was too juvenile for my taste. As an 18 year old, I expect more. The plot of the story showed no depth and I felt like the author wasn't emotionally attached to her work. Pictures were good. 2/5 read more

Really disappointed in this library. I need a place to study for the next month that is not my home. I need it to be reasonably quiet and to not have constant foot traffic. I went to the Rockwall library thinking that was the answer. Boy was I wrong! They have study rooms but they're first come first served and they reserve the right to remove you from the room if a group of people want it. Furthermore, that is the LOUDEST library I have ever been in. Want a place for your child to talk at the top of his voice? Wow do I have a place for you. The reference librarian, who seemed extremely annoyed to be talking to me, suggested the loudest quiet room on earth where allegedly there's no talking allowed. Apparently no one told the 12 people in there that. Pretty building, horrible acoustics and bad policies. read more

I want to thank the Rockwall Library for having a great solar eclipse experience planned. There were several telescopes available for viewing the eclipse. I was also able to get a pair of free eclipse glasses after being surprised at the long line. They had staff on hand to explain the process of waiting in the long line, and they had plenty of young people on hand outside to encourage people to recycle their glasses so that others could have a chance to experience this incredible occurrence. It was a very civil gathering even though the crowd was really large and probably bigger than anticipated. Thank you to the Rockwall County Library and staff for making this such a memorable experience for so many. read more

This library is pretty much a "Rockwall County Residents Only." I had held a card with them for several years, and then found out today that I can no longer check out books unless I pay $30 since I live in Rowlett. So, if you don't live in Rockwall County, be prepared to fork over $30. The library may be good, but not that good. I never heard of any thing like it before, and I've checked out books from different libraries for decades. read more
