It's in Garland, Texas, a town not far from where I live. And it felt like a kids paradise from the moment I walked down the stairs into the children's area. I saw children gathered around for a special event, and they were all filled with joy and many were giggling. What a beautiful experience it was to see such happiness around books. And isn't that what being a child is supposed to be like? The walls were covered with creative nature scenes, just like you're walking into a storybook. And they carved out the sweetest little reading nooks so you could enjoy your time, privately, with a great story. There was a wonderful artistic mobile hanging over the area where you walk down to the children's area, and fun seating for storytime readings. And let's not miss out on the slide kids can go down to get to the children's area. What a fun idea! Hats off to whomever thought that one through! Every person I talked to in this library was genuinely nice. It truly felt like a safe and happy place to be - for both children and adults. I'm coming back with my grandchildren, and I already know it will be a great adventure for us all!

Like most everywhere, the quant library of old is long gone, given up for the ever-important clicks at the turnstile. Freelance tutors hold class sessions in the the middle of the stacks, "patrons" talk on the phone. The public computers are a gathering place for, well, the public. Might as well go to starbucks where at least they have coffee.

I love the reference rooms and the reference librarians. Both David and Jane know the answers to anything and everything and are happy to help. They are willing to read over your papers and submit edits, which makes a huge difference when professors are picky about citations and footnotes. Bridwell is one of the main reasons why I chose to attend Perkins School of Theology and move to Dallas, Texas. This is a library that you must visit if you ever find yourself on SMU's campus.

Theology Library at Southern Methodist University. This is…read moreprobably one of the fanciest libraries I've ever been in. They have a beautiful place to study, read, reflect, or research. They've got really nice tables, with comfortable chairs in a magnificent setting, right in the heart of the SMU campus. This is a theology library, so don't expect any copies of Green Eggs and Ham, or the latest Stephen King thriller. Their collection is large, deep, and historical. Get this- they actually have a copy of the Gutenburg Bible here, arguably one of the rarest and most valuable books in existence. I've tried to order it at my local library via an Interlibrary Loan, but got rejected. They let you look at it, but want to be there to show it off with white gloves. They provide you with any items to take notes with. It's really quite exquisite and beautiful. This is a great place to do some research on theology, and to post up for exams. You're not going to get bothered here, it's quiet. Downstairs, be sure to check out the mechanical bookshelves, which move with a push of a button. Swanky!

The Rowlett Library is just that - an inviting place where everyone is welcome and all the staff is over the top nice! My daughter and granddaughter got their first library car le there, and my granddaughter immediately found wonderful books to check out. Its well designed, and I loved the books they had on the top of the displays for the children to see. My granddaughter was so excited when she saw them. The other thing I really like about this Library is... it's very engaged with the community. Over the summer, they had activities every day for the kids. That speaks volumes in my book!

The Lochwood library is a great place for all of the family to spend a calm, relaxing day, browsing through the rows and rows of books, movies, music, periodicals and other materials. There is a special section for the children where they can explore literature, listen to music and fall in love with public services such as the library. This library also has classrooms and a theater with classes and productions being put on all the time. Check the local calendar for more information. This location does have DVD/BlueRay movies as well as a drive through book return window to avoid having to leave your car. Enjoy!
