Dr. Sylvia and Kim (her receptionist) are the best!! They were both really accommodating. I wanted to switch my 2pm appointment to 12pm and I did just two hours before 12pm on the same day! Isn't that great? Besides being super accommodating, the prices are great too (compared to Costco and Walmart). Dr. Sylvia was also very nice and professional. She answered all my questions and was very patient with me (took me roughly 15 mins to put contacts on one eye D:). The place is also very clean and well organized which is a plus! :) read more

I walked in on a late Saturday afternoon for my annual check-up and an updated pair of glasses. The guy working front desk helped me immediately and ran the eye tests after some quick paperwork. Customer service was thorough, quick, and friendly. Dr. Yun was very nice, professional, and knowledgeable about what would be good for my high prescription. I spent a very long time picking out my frames, and not a moment did I feel rushed. They had a huge selection of nice designer brand frames that made choosing one difficult. Dr. Yun and the front desk receptionist even gave me their knowledgeable and personal opinions about what frames worked for me, with so much patience! After a long process of trying on dozens of glasses, I finally selected a Gucci pair for a very good price. I'm glad I came to Rowland Optometry and I'll be glad to come again! read more

I needed an exam for contact lenses so my friend recommended me to try this place. The first thing I noticed was the large inventory of designer glasses. As for the staff, they had a front desk and an optometrist (Dr. Yun) who were both friendly and very knowledgeable. The exam was quick and thorough and I have no complaints with my contacts so far. I want other people to see the difference between the service Rowland Optometry provides from my experience and how much it can deteriorate when a situation goes bad. My girl went here for contacts at my recommendation. I told her that Sylvia has been friendly for the past few years I've gone and that her price for contacts are similar to that when buying online. I've always used my insurance, so I didn't think it was a big deal. She didn't have insurance and went to Costco for her prescription but went to Sylvia to get the contacts. Since she had some of her old contacts left she didn't start using the ones she got from Sylvia until 4-5 months later. While she used them they didn't fit well and she called to ask for a refund. Kim said that she'll see what she can do and would contact us. Strike one. We didn't get a call back but had to call Kim ourselves after about a week. Kim said that she wouldn't able to help us because her vendor, Vistakon doesn't accept returns. Why wouldn't a manufacturer accept returns? Vistakon is the manufacturer of Acuvue. So we contacted Acuvue and they said they would be able to provide a refund/credit for the contacts. We had to call Kim back and "she" asked "us" to contact Acuvue again. Why should we be doing your job Kim. Isn't that part of your service and due diligence? If there is a difference between the two, why are we the messenger and you should be contacting Acuvue directly so "you" can get the information. Regardless, we contacted Acuvue and they said they would contact the Rowland Optometrist. We receive no call from Kim again, so we had to call them back. Again she said that the vendor doesn't accept returns. Didn't Acuvue contact you? What make this whole situation worse is the condescending attitude of Kim. You don't think that I heard you scoffing at me? Do you think I'm dumb and can't hear the tone of your voice? Learn some customer service. Later she says that they don't give refunds and to look at our receipt. If that's the case then why didn't you say that in the beginning? Lastly, Sylvia didn't even contact me or my girl directly but had to go through another person? Really? I even waited a couple weeks to write this review and gave you several chances to try and rectify the situation. I tried to call you twice and each time you're not there (which I left a message to call me back) or that you're at lunch (again left message that I called). This isn't even about getting a refund as we're long past that. It was for you to understand the crappy service your employee was giving and her attitude. As a small business owner, would you want to know what she's doing and how many other people she's done this to? I tried to help you out as a fellow Korean but I will never ever go to your store again. You didn't even talk to us directly or provide any apology for your crappy customer service. Also your prices aren't that great. Online is much cheaper and we were able to go back to our old optometrist in Ktown who were 20% cheaper for the exact same product and gave us an extra 4 pair of contacts as "service". So if you're reading this review, you as a customer decide what to do and I hope that the business gets their act together. read more

This is kind of a late post, but I go here for my glasses and contacts and the staff here are exceptionally amazing! The front desk worker is very nice and willing to talk to you and Dr. Yun is an outstanding optometrist! I recently got my glasses prescripted there and they did it in less than in hour which was really convenient for me. While the staff and optician were friendly and helpful, the optical lab that filled my prescription sunglasses is horrible. The first time I went in to pick up my sunglasses, I noticed two sizable black marks on one lens, so the sunglasses were sent back. I have no clue how anyone could have missed seeing them; they were pretty noticeable. The second time I went to pick them up, I had a more critical eye in examining the work. Lo and behold, there were two smaller black marks on the OTHER lens. Who knows, I might have missed them before when I was distracted by the larger black marks, but still, the lens was messed up. All the staff (Sylvia?) could do was to say she was sorry and that she'd use an angry tone of voice with the lab when she sends in the sunglasses for a second time. Um, OK, but now I'd have to schlep out to this area AGAIN and worse still, I have absolutely no faith in the lab that this place uses. I use to go to this place in Alhambra (Swiss Optical?) that would fill my prescription glasses/sunglasses IN AN HOUR (not the 7 -14 days that Rowland Optometry offers) and mistakes were never made. Needless to say, this place is just OK if you're getting regular sunglasses because no one is going to touch the lenses, but I don't recommend this place if you're looking for prescription sunglasses. Ultimately, this place isn't the end all, be all of sunglasses. Also, their selection is small, not great. I can't vouch for their prices, but I don't think I was getting a great deal anyway. Just shop around and, if you have the time, go online and find the same pair for less. I found mine for almost $100 cheaper. read more

I was on vacation at disneyland when my kid broke my glasses. I looked everywhere to find a matching frame, and true to my luck, no one carried my frame within a 10 mile radius. Randomly, i was waiting to have dinner with my relatives at Yes plaza and i came across this place. Not only do they have my glasses, they were nice enough to swap in my lenses for me. Love you guys. This was probably a mistake to believe in all these 5 stars. My original purpose was to get a prescription for sunglasses , which i did , the shocking thing was that Dr. Yun charged me $50 to drill some holes in the poly lenses RIDICULOUS. also stating high index could not withstand the drill . On the same day i met another optometrist saying its possible. The thickness of the finish product looked like magnifying glasses . geeez and Dr yun really your going to say you have a pair yourself? When i decided to check if my sunglasses were done the receptionist said it came in today but it was almost there closing time? although this place is pretty far from where i'm living at, i decided to give it a shot after reading the reviews on yelp. i've been searching all over for a place that carries Chanel frames and this place seems to be the only one that carries a large selection of it. the prices are reasonable & the customer service is excellent! I visited Rowland Optometry for an eye exam a few weeks ago, and I was very pleased with my experience here. When I first walked in, I noticed that the place was extremely clean (the glass door, counters, mirrors, etc) and very organized. There was a girl and a guy at the front desk. I think the girl's name was Leslie, and she was very patient and helpful (and pretty) with my insurance information and whatnot. I didn't quite get the guy's name, but from reading past reviews I'm guessing his name is Thomas. He is GORGEOUS! I wish I was his friend.. :) Anyways, Leslie then gave me a variety of tests, including the one where they puff air into your eye to measure your eye pressure. I didn't like that one because I kept blinking as a reflex mechanism, but she told me that she comes in peace and told me not to worry. After that I went into the exam room to see the optometrist, Dr. Shih. She was very nice (and pretty) as well. :) She made the atmosphere very friendly for me during the eye exam. There was a test where she told me follow her pen with my eyes which I've never done with other optometrists before. That made me feel like a pet. She then explained my vision to me in detail. Nonetheless, my trip to Rowland Optometry deserves 5 stars because it's one of the better optometry places I've been to in terms of staff friendliness, helpfulness, selection of glasses, and rate at which I was seen. I just got some super cute glasses from Rowland Optometry! This was the best experience I've had with an optometrist. Sylvia was awesome! I let her know that I had not been to an optometrist for some time because my last optometrist was horrible. She was really helpful and got me a great pair of Chanel glasses. . . .soooo cute! In addition to that I got some cute Ray Ban sunglasses. The prices at Rowland Optometry are hard to beat. Quickest and best value around (I called a lot of places, including Walmart and Costco). Also open relatively late compared to other places as well as Saturdays which is a big plus if you work weekdays. I called to make an appointment and was given many times to accommodate my needs. Once there, we looked around for a new pair of glasses, the woman at the counter helped out with what was "in style" currently although we went with something more work environment friendly and not so bold in color. The doctor arrived and saw to us about 5min after the appointment time which is impressive when comparing to other doctor offices that lag tremendously. Not too much paper work. The exam itself was what impressed me the most. The doctor was very thorough on every aspect and tested in many other ways then I have ever seen (been wearing glasses for 8 years). She even sent us out to walk with lenses to make sure that he could see accurately without any dizziness or head aches. He needed them as quick as possible for work because he had broken his pair and had no back up. We went on a Saturday and got the glasses Monday morning which was amazing time ( they would have had them same day but the lenses were special so they had to send then out). Overall she was an awesome doctor and I will be back soon to get my glasses. Thank you sooo much for understanding our rush to get the glasses! :D read more

After my trip to her office, she called me and realized that her associate made a mistake in calculating my bill. She told me they would issue me a refund once I pick up my glasses. Dr. Yun was absolutely incredible in everyway possible! She provided me with an inclusive eye exam, and was the first doctor to diagnosis me with color-blindness. As a poor medical student, her prices are rock-bottom, the office was clean, and her assistant is personable. She, I think, gave me a prescription for both contacts and glasses. As a future physician, you can't ask for much more than a low-cost eye exam, great service, and a competent doctor with extraordinary patient rapport. Check it out for yourself! read more
