Salem did my back dermals & they ended up being more difficult than expected (superrr painful) but she was extremely patient & handled everything with so much care & compassion. I've been having a rough few months mentally & I got these to cheer myself up so it meant a lot :) You can tell they truly care about their clients and creating a safe environment. Let them know I'd be coming after work (literally told them I get off at 7:15 in Elgin) she said sounds good. Yesterday I get there at 7:45 and they were gone! No one was there. Called and sent them a fb message. Not once did anyone mention they stop taking walk in at 7:30pm. I drove 25 min each way. Gas is around $5 a gallon. Their response was even crazier. Blaming being short staffed on Sunday but that was irrelevant. Then also told me I have to pay for new jewelry even if it is their fault on sizing. I wanted to love them so bad. The shop is so cute and the girls are sweet. But the lack of communication is ridiculous. Especially since I messaged them before 7:30pm yesterday to say I'm coming!

I've been to Claire's as a child, and one other tattoo shop that I wasn't impressed with for all of my piercings. I had no idea what an APP certified piercer was until I looked into it, and now I want to scream from the roof tops the importance of going to a piercer with these credentials. It makes a world of a difference. I don't want to talk poorly about the last shop I was at since their proceeds go to charity, but compared to the steps taken and sanitation at UpRise, it's like night and day. UpRise is located in a strip mall, from the outside it looks pretty tiny but it's actually quite large inside. The first thing I noticed was how clean and bright everything was. I know most people think of tattoo shops as being dark and dingy, but this was the exact opposite. They have a beautiful selection of high quality jewelry in a display case up front for you to look at before and during your appointment time if you're undecided. I came in knowing what I wanted for the most part placement and jewelry-wise, but Rylie was still extremely patient and helpful during the process. They never tried to upsell or push certain pieces of jewelry on me, and Rylie offered great insight as to what would look the best for my curation. Sterilization is taken very seriously here which I appreciate-- the longest part of my appointment was probably waiting for my new jewelry to be sterilized but I'm not complaining. Rylie is extremely professional, but is extremely personable and sweet, we yapped the entire time we were together. I only added to my lobes this trip so the pain was minimum, but I'd trust Rylie with my entire being to do a more 'painful' piercing in the future. I walked out with 4 new lobe piercings my first trip, then 1 more 4 weeks after when I got my posts shortened, as well as all new jewelry for each piercing I have (including the old piercings). Everything was bought from UpRise except for the charms on the hoop earrings. I am extremely happy with the turnout, I will definitely be back to UpRise in the future! He helps you to feel at ease. Yesterday I got pierced for the 2nd time by him. The first time was to repierce my belly button after a tummy tuck. When I first went to have it done he educated me on how it was too soon to do it and my body would probably reject it. He advised me to come back in a few months and see if it could be done then. I did just that and he pierced it beautifully. No rejection. Yesterday I had him add a piercing to each ear. He patiently listened while I thought over and over about exactly where I wanted them. (Move it a little this way, move it a little that way) It is possible that I went with the original location that he chose. They look great.

Gregory Charles was extremely professional, articulate, thorough, friendly, and honest. He expressed concern that my ears were shaped in a way that could change the way the piercing fit. I got them specifically as a hail Mary trying to help my migraines so how they looked was not my primary concern. He was very clear that there is no evidence that daith piercings help migraines. Greg was patient, spent a lot of time going back and forth with me deciding if I should get the piercing, and then choosing the right jewelry. Getting pierced was not nearly as scary or painful as people make it seem. Yes, the daith is uncomfortable to get pierced, and pain is different for everyone, but it was like a 5/10 for me maybe, and I'm not *that* tough. They are SO serious about being clean and sanitary that when I was leaving I dropped my hair clip on the floor. They picked it up for me and *sanitized it before giving it back*. I was done and leaving and it was just a hair clip. But that's how much they care. All these reviews about how clean and sanitary they are are not just hype. This place really lived up the the reviews. The jewelry was WAY MORE expensive than I expected. But, for the quality of experience I paid the higher prices. I felt kind of stuck to spend more money since you have to leave a daith in for a year so you want to like the ring you choose. But, no regrets. :) Parking is easy. Staff is friendly. The waiting room is comfy. The entire experience was great. I'm going back and bringing my boyfriend to get pierced too. Fan for life. :)
