i went to go get my eyebrow pierced here a few days ago, Don pierced me and there were a few questionable things i had noticed. first off, he gave me a ball that wasn't the same size as the other because he "couldn't find the match for the smaller ball" which i instantly thought was weird because he's a piercer and couldn't find the same size ball..? the second thing was that i noticed before he put it in that the bar was insanely short. while getting pierced i started bleeding like crazy, it was dripping down my face and neck. he put so much pressure on my brand new fresh piercing to get it to stop bleeding and could barely get it to screw on because of how slippery it was from the blood. it genuinely felt like the bar was imbedding into my skull. speaking of imbedding... a few days after getting it pierced the piercing balls started to sink into my face, and it was also extremely swollen. i was in tears by how much pain i was in trying to get don to answer the phone, or someone and the only person who answered me were the people at Chi Town Effects Tattoo. i don't know what her name was but she helped me and told me over the phone that don is unreliable, and she told me that it wasn't the first time that someone came to her about something that don did. she was literally so sweet and helped me so much, i cannot thank her enough for her service. it took so long to get the ball of because of how close it was to my skin. don't go to don, he might be cheaper but he will seriously give you some terrible damage, it's not worth it i promise. he was cold and short with me and the friend i was with. i kept asking questions and he basically shut me down and gave me one word answers. there's literally no way this place should still be in business, they don't care about you, they care about the money. read more

My girlfriend went there to get her piercing done. The guy was super unprofessional, dropped the tools, didn't sanitized and didn't even prepare my girlfriend when the needle went in. And when my girlfriend's friend got her belly button done, she asked safety questions that he fully ignored. Would not recommend at all. Or atleast with this guy. read more

first off i wanna say this place SUCKS. me and my friend went to get matching eyebrow piercings. we chose dons cause it was the cheapest option we could find. the second i walked in, he was sort of rude. he asked "what do u want today?" and i said something to my mom and she said "what?" to me. he yelled and said "WHAT DO YOU WANT?" and my mom said "eyebrow piercing." he said "sigh, okay". mine didnt have too many complications. but i asked him to re mark my piercing cause i did not like the way it was placed. his attitude was very off putting. he moved it little by little and it got annoying, so i just left it at that. the vibe of the store was kinda weird. my friends eyebrow piercing was so much worse. the bar was very short and he couldnt find a matching ball for it, so one ball was bigger than the other. which is very unprofessional. it was pretty noticeable, and her piercing bled like crazy. it might have been a her thing, but ive never seen so much blood from a piercing. after a couple days, her piercing started sinking into her skin cause of how short the bar was. don should not have a piercing license or whatever you need to pierce people, he was VERY dry and not nice or comfortable to be around. he was also unsanitary. no gloves. he doesnt care about his customers. no wonder why he is so cheap. the price isnt worth your piercing migrating and potentially rejecting. there have also been tons of piercing places complaining and saying how people come from dons all the time saying how he isnt a good piercer, and more than not always messes up. dont come here, it isnt worth it. read more

I went to Don's when I was a junior in high school to get my helix piercing done. When I arrived, a man named Mike (not Don) did my piercing. He claimed to know what he was doing, but when He pierced my ear, my ear started gushing blood. The angle of the piercing looked very wrong. I tried to let it heal, but the length of the stud prevented it from healing for over a year. I had to go to Skynn piercing and PMU tattoo to get the piercing fixed. Would not recommend Don's. read more

My cousin got his first tattoo here by Addy. She did such a great job on him, I ended up getting tattooed by her a few weeks later. A friend of mine owns a tattoo shop in the city and quoted me twice the price. Before I booked my appt with Addy, I pretty much stalked her Instagram account to see her work. The saying goes, "you get what you pay for". I have no complaints at all with how my tattoo turned out. I recommended her to all my friends. It was time for another trip to Don's to finish off my first tattoo. This time I had him put in a tribal background to the zodiac tattoo he did on me a couple of months ago. I couldn't be happier with the end result! (I posted a picture of it in my Yelp Pics) Don's creativity is amazing. Not only is he a very good sketch artist and does outstanding tattoo work, he sees things, possibilities in his head and has that uncanny ability to translate those visions to reality on your skin. What a gift and a true talent! As I have stated in my previous review, the staff at Don's are all talented tattoo artists and very friendly and courteous. Getting a tattoo should be a fun experience and Don's team of artists make it so. This review is solely based upon the piercing services I received here not the tattoo. I came here for a nose piercing and I just overall recommend going to another place. The piercer is so hard to get a hold of if you face complications from your piercing and ultimately he is unreliable. I visited the shop multiple times to try to get his assistance and advice about my piercing troubles but he was never there and Don said he comes and goes as he pleases. I ended up going to an actual piercing establishment and was told my jewelry (that I got here) was not in regulation. This frustrated me because although I should do my own research on a piercing, I feel like it's the piercers job to educate as well. And the piercer did not do this. I don't recommend getting a piercing here unless you want to be stressed and never get the help you need. read more

Was not happy with our experience here! My daughter went in to get her belly button pierced after it was recommended by 2 different people. We realized later that the piercing was put in upside down...why would he do that??? Also seems like the bar is too small & he didn't have a very big selection of jewelry to pick from. Everyone we spoke to about what to expect were able to lay on a table during the piercing and my daughter sat in a salon chair. Besides all of that the piercer was just not very nice. He seemed put off that we were even there, like we were bothering him. Not very good service at all! Didn't give us anything to take with us about aftercare. Oh and her belly button bled and he gave us a paper towel. Will not be recommending!! read more

I went in with a few friends to get tattoos done by Kat. This was for my first tattoo, so naturally I was quite anxious about the process, and I was very specific about what I wanted. I sent in a picture to Kat, and she drew up a great design for me. She DELIVERED! I love my new tattoo! I was very impressed with her work, and the cost was extremely reasonable. 100% satisfied. Kat was also super nice and fun to talk to; she made me feel really at ease with the whole process, walking me through exactly what she was doing. I've personally had a lot of work done here, as has my wife, and would never consider going any where else. DTI has been my sole studio for ink since my first visit in 2009 and dozens of sessions since. The work performed by Don and his artists speaks for itself. If there's any doubt, walk in and check out some of the hundreds of jobs that have been done. There are books and books showing proof of product. Don, and the other artists, take pride in their work and consider each job a personal reflection of themselves. They take endless time to ensure that you're getting exactly what you want before they even consider loading a needle into the gun. Went here to get my septum pierced and I could not be more pleased with my experience. Mike (Mikey?) did the job and it was, dare I say, practically painless! I don't know how he did it, but the piercing itself hurt far less than any of my other piercings and once It was in there was no pain whatsoever. Mike was calm, professional, and patient. The shop is tiny and I was a little concerned about its credibility at first considering it's not some big deluxe place, but I couldn't be happier with the experience. A few months ago, I was originally looking to get a piercing but when I checked Don's website I saw they have a lady tattoo artist so I thought "why not support a lady artist?" I checked her instagram and I was blown away by her art. After seeing her work, I immediately booked. She is booked for a while but DEFINITELY worth the wait! I have never been so excited to get a tattoo from someone. Addy is so sweet and great at keeping conversations going. I'm naturally a quiet and shy person but she made me feel comfortable! Even showed me updates on my favorite cover up that she is working on. She succeeded my expectations. I love the tattoo she did and it is now one of my favorites. After my tattoo appt, I went home and told all of my friends about how awesome she is and to go to her if they can! Shared her instagram to them so they can see her work too. My experience here was fantastic. I moved 1,000 miles away from the places I've gotten my other tattoos, so I wanted to find a new artist in the area. I walked in on a Saturday, was recommended Cassandra (since she was away from the shop), came back on Monday to talk to her about my idea, and came back on Wednesday to have the work done. She is incredibly talented and friendly - I gave her a rough concept of what I was planning and she took my images and just absolutely knocked it out of the park. Don has done multiple tattoos for me and always hooks me up with really BA stuff. He works with me to come up with some cool ideas. It's not like other shops where they just want you to pick up some flash and throw it on and get you out. Don and his guys make you feel like you're hanging out with friends. I have 1 word for this place and it's AMAZING! I have gotten 3 tattoos from Cassandra she does amazing work for a very good price! Everyone has always been friendly to me as well. They are busy most of the time but I normally contact them threw their Facebook that tends to work better than calling. But I wouldn't get a tattoo anywhere else. LOVE LOVE LOVE them. I got my belly pierced here just a few days ago. HORRIBLE. It was painful and I actually had to find a way to take it out. It got infected after 4 days and yes I cleaned it with proper solution 2 times a day. It was red, swollen and irritated. I couldn't get the ball to budge so I had to use rubber gloves to get it off and after taking it out my belly was gushing blood. I had to compress it to stop bleeding and now I have a bandaid over it. I would not go here for your piercings. I have to go on antibiotics so I won't get a stomach infecting. Worst experience ever! The jewelry was also too small, the staff was too short, and left a divot in my skin. When I took the ball of you couldn't even see the staff. I was so swollen that the piercing sunk right into the hole. read more

Don was excellent. It was my first tattoo where I let the artist interpret my idea as opposed to walking in with a predetermined image. Right away Don made sure I knew that he was willing to go back to the drawing board if I didn't like his interpretation. That was not necessary because he nailed it. I decided to give this shop a try since I go by it regularly. I'm so glad I did! The shop is very clean and every artist is so very talented. I got a very large chest piece of peonies done and liked it so much that I came back to have the cutest little bluebird tattooed on my shoulder. Both custom. I came in with the basic drawings and the artists brought them to life. Although I have not had Don tattoo me yet, I've watched him work though and he is fantastic. Maybe some day I'll get a tattoo from him, but in the mean time I have full respect and confidence in the work of any of the artists here. I'm so intrigued by the whole process. One of these days I'm going to get a piercing done too. Pricing seems reasonable for quality of work done. I feel like I'm hanging out with friends whenever I go here for a tattoo! read more
