Do not come here for anything other than buying jewelry. The store is super cute, the staff is very kind, but the piercing expertise is severely lacking. The concept of nurses is cool, but they really need to hire more experienced piercers. For context: I went in today to get the L bar that my nostril was pierced with replaced with a regular flat back stud because the L bar was driving me crazy. The nurse took out my original jewelry and then struggled for a while to try and get the flat back post in. At first she said she was going to have to give up, but then she stuck a thin piece of metal through the front of my piercing to try and guide the new jewelry post through the back. This process was all extremely painful. She still could not get the post through my piercing, so she put lube on the inside of my nostril. I guess this did the trick because she got it in, but then she said it was too short and she couldn't get the top on. SO she got a longer post to replace the shorter one with but then she dropped the longer one into my hair. She found it, pulled it out of my hair, wiped it down, and then restarted the painful process with the guide wire. She finally got the longer post in through the piercing, but then she left it hanging there while she walked away to get the stud and the post fell out of my nose. She said it was probably because there was too much lube in my nostril. At that point, I just asked her to please put my original jewelry back in and I left with an absolutely throbbing nose. I really don't blame the nurse. She was very kind and I truly believe she was doing her best. But she's a trained medical provider, not a piercer. Please please please just hire the right kind of professionals. read more

Had a little piercing date with my friend! Unfortunately, even after trying a few different options, the placement of my piercing ended up leaving my ear looking a little deformed. I was super disappointed, so I reached out to Rowan directly, and I found out they actually offer a 30-day complimentary repierce! When I went in for the second time, I brought my daughter along to get her ears pierced too. Honestly, I think I was way more nervous than she was, haha. I went first to get mine redone, then it was her turn. The nurse, Soto, and the rest of the staff were amazing with her--super patient, gave her stickers, lollipops, and even a little certificate! Today, I went back for a post change, and Alyssa was awesome. She was super clean, took her time, and tried a few different posts to make sure it fit just right. I came in last minute to see if my irritated second lobe piercing, that was starting to close, could be repierced. The nurse Lacey (she was there on a Saturday) helped me see that they could be tapered instead of repierced. She did a great job, the day after being tapered they look the best they've looked in weeks and don't hurt at all. No irritation. She was very helpful and patient. I booked an appointment online for 2 days out, received the confirmation, showed up the required 10 minutes early, and the location was closed. There's no way to call Rowan, so I emailed their customer service, and have still not heard back. If you're in Brooklyn, don't bother with this tech startup pretending to know anything about piercing. I walked 3 blocks to a legit tattoo and piercing studio, met with a knowledgable artist who helped me with the piercing, and has been in the neighborhood for 15 years. Incredibly expensive. The prices can be deceptive... they say it's $60 for the earrings, but in small print it's for each ear lol. Same with the resizing service.. they advertise as $20, but then you get there and they tell you it's PER EAR! Then just put $40 for the service. On top of that, they expect you to tip for the piercing service... totally caught off guard with that one. The nurse that did my piercing was great! But I already paid for the service of piercing... wasn't expecting to be asked to tip. Very strange read more

if i could leave 0 stars i would. my sister and I went in looking to get a piercing along with new jewelry. There were two staff members, one of whom was walking us through the jewelry options. The other staff member at the counter began sighing very loudly - so much so that the worker talking to us stopped and asked her what was wrong. she gave us a weird look and said "oh nothing". The whole vibe was really awkward and turned us off from even wanting to get our piercings done there. Their awkward exchange made us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable.
