I took Coach Alex's New Year's Day class as a first timer. Can I just say it was everything I needed to feel refreshed and confident to start the new year! He was fun and charismatic, motivated us to set intentions and was very descriptive throughout the process of the workout which really helped me. The studio was also super clean and every room smelled amazing + the bathrooms had everything a girl needs (including nice tea tree body wipes - never see those but RUNNING to purchase my own). All in all 12/10 experience and will definitely be making my way back when I'm in town! read more

This was my first time trying an indoor rowing class. How did I not try this sooner??? I've done dragon boat racing, kayaking and recently rowing in an infared sauna, so I was curious to try this. It's a rigorous but low-inpact workout. They offer one free class for each person. There were different packages available and classes are available via ClassPass. The room starts off with lights on, then throughout the class, it felt almost club-like and synced with the music/workouts, definitely set the mood. The location itself is very clean and well-maintained. Towels are provided for anyone who needs it. They have a milestone section for rowers who row a certain distance, the reward may include merchandise and/or pics with the backdrop/rowing machine. Rob and Laura had explained the different classes before and after I signed up. Of the different classes they offer (Express Full Row, Restore, Strength, Signature, Intervals), I tried the Full Row and Strength: Full row with Suzy "Sunshine": I was hesitant to try this on a Saturday morning, but signed up and loved every minute! It was Suzy's birthday and boy was her energy through the roof! This energy also resonated with the crew members. Everyone was so welcoming and encouraging. Strength with Joe: This included rowing as well as weight-lifting in between. I loved the rowing. but not so much incorporating weights. Everyone was in sync, which made it easier and fun. Since it was my first time taking the Strength class, I was unsure which weights to select and at what point of the class we would use them. Upon completion of each class, an email is received with the stats, which is encouraging. There's plenty of parking around the building, shared by other businesses. Why did I wait so long to try this ?!? It's probably the only place around with a 7:15pm class during the week which is about the only time I can go during the week and the reason I tried here. I am new to rowing and while it is low impact, don't let that fool you. The instructors are engaged the whole time whether it be a class of 30,45, or 60 minutes, they do not stop motivating you and encouraging / reminding you to use proper form the entire time. They shout out those in the class who hit their rowing meters milestones during the row or they just go around the room saying your name and a motivational line during the workout. They have multiple classes throughout the day and the entire week. They seem to take notice in the scheduling when they rotate the different classes through the same time. For example, Monday at 7:15pm one week is a strength class and the next week it's a full row class at the same time. There are five different class types and each includes some time stretching, using weights, or core work so you aren't spending the entire time on a rower which can be very intimidating when you watch the class get into a synchronized swing and you are tired and need a break. The time spent off the rower allows for a water break too. The gym is very clean. The instructor walks around at the end of the class/ during the cool down and gives you a wipe to clean the machine and your weights. They provide towels, toiletries, and a water fountain. During the class, the instructors adjust the lights depending on if it's a go your own pace they will lower the lights all the way down or if trying to get in a swing ( whole room going back forth at the same time) they lighten the room up. They send you stats after every class so you can see your distance and time which is nice to see how you get better. Rowing is about form so get there early for your first class for the coach to show you the moves. They also have intro classes to get to know the forms and studio. I have only just started going but I have enjoyed it so much. The group setting and music that is perfectly timed to the moves is so fun. read more

I had an amazing first class with coach Alex. Restore was definitely a great way for a beginner to try a rowing class. Coach Alex had great energy and walked me through the set up and proper form before class. The lights, music and energy were amazing during class. The restore class had two seven minute floor sessions which incorporated core and stretching and then rowing blocks in between. This class was meant to be more relaxed in that we weren't watching numbers like strokes per minute or meters rowed. People were also friendly and helpful. I'd definitely do this class more often if I lived closer. I look forward to trying more classes in the future. read more

Took the Full Row class with Jesse! It was my first time doing a row class and the energy was unmatchable to any workout class I've taken. During the entire class, you are encouraged to be in sync with each other and it was kind of beautiful to be all rowing together. Definitely recommended to be there 10-15 minutes early so you can get familiar with the row technique and machine. Jesse was lovely with helping me understand the screen metrics and what to expect in the class. I've never pushed myself as much as I did in this class. The music was bumpin'! If you are looking for something easy on your knees, rowing is a great option. I liked how I was able to push my body without straining and stressing. read more

It'd been a while since my workout consisted of more than just walking the dog so as the Spring approached I looked for ways to motivate me back to a routine. A friend took me to a class at Row House and I had a great time. It seems like it's pretty common to get a free class to try it out so key an eye out for thar. The staff welcomed me and made sure I was prepared to use the equipment.  The coaches are engaging and motivating. They seem to really want to have you perform your best. I've never seen anyone get yelled at in a negative manner to do better. Motivation is done the right way.  The classes I've been to have been all rowing even though there are classes that incorporate weights or include more stretching. So there are a few options for classes if you're worried about being bored out of your mind going stroke, stroke, stroke. But if you are in one of the all rowing classes, you'll still enjoy yourself. And it can get intense. Music is critical for a workout so of course they use music to get your mind focused and to help you keep your pace.  The studio looked and felt clean. The coach helped hand out those sanitizing wipes, making it more likely that people are going to use them...and they did. The whole class did. At other gyms I rarely saw people use those wipes. I really try to not focus on that while I use that equipment. It's a small step, but I trust this studio is clean, much moreso than other places. If you're someone who likes to look at stats, you'll like this place. It was great to see that my stats were automatically tracked. I haven't explored what those stats provide me in terms of competition, but the fact that they keep stats could make it possible. That said, I haven't seen any advertising of stats so if you're worried about visibility, you don't need to be. I haven't been able to see other people's stats. But I can see how I'm doing over a long period of time to track my gains or understand when I performed best or most poorly. And they're available in the app so they're easy to get to. It's not like you have to keep bugging someone to show you that information.  Speaking of the app, It makes it easy to sign up for classes. You can filter out by coach if you want to work with certain people. And the membership is pretty easy to update. I've had memberships before that make it difficult to access your membership information or they would make you call somebody else. This place has it all available in the app. So if you're curious, I'd advise you to check this place out. My experience so far has been a positive one and it makes me want to keep going back. read more

I was invited to try out roadhouse in Ashburn and decided to give it a try! I woke up bright and early Monday morning and made it to class 15 minutes early to make sure everything was set up correctly. Coach Joe was the instructor for that class and he did a fantastic job! He is super motivational and engaging and encouraging! I truly enjoyed the class! Joe knew exactly how to push us without being over the top! It was such a great workout and I burned over 500 calories ! The energy in the room was also really great and it felt so good rowing to the beat of the music! Row House ads kept popping up on my Instagram so I finally decided to sign up for a free trial class. Signed up with an account online. Check-in was a breeze. It was a pleasure to meet Barry and Ellen at my first session. The grand opening goodies (coozie, sunglasses, pop socket, hand sanitizer, and rubber band) were a nice touch! When you step into class, it's dim (blue) with spaced machines with the instructors machine up front. Instructors showed a quick demo (position, straps, control panel). 45 minute class with alternating intervals of rowing and weights/body weight/stretching. It's great to feel like a row crew with other members in unison, while working towards beating your personal numbers and accumulating a combined total. I really love when the lights are turned down (I'm in a bubble, no distractions). Music selections have been great! read more

Row House Ashburn has it going on. When you step into an establishment that is run well, you can feel it in the bones. Jason's is not only an amazing Manager, he is a fabulous instructor, a wonderful human being and a true inspiration to us all. Now that he has Katie, as his assistant manager, she is a powerhouse all her own. These two individuals run this place with enthusiasm, knowledge, and care for their community around them. If I could be here every day, you better believe it I would. Just start out small with four classes a month and do yourself a favor. For a boutique experience it is well worth the price and actually very affordable compared to some of the other studios around. Everyone is always welcoming. Everything is always incredibly clean and the music is phenomenal. All ages all sizes and all levels of life welcome . They have worked with me through so many life issues that I did not anticipate. I was able to hit up a 30 minute class yesterday with Katie and totally enjoyed some serious 80s rock moments while I pushed myself as hard as I could go. The class is a nice cool temperature so you don't have to look like a freaking beast, as you get yourself back in shape.
