This room was huge! Smelled clean and definitely was clean. Bed was descent but not the most comfortable also not the worst. The only thing was the a/c was way at the top of the room and we had to pull a chair over to reach it to turn it on. Really cute set up and the outdoor sitting area was nice. There isn't an ice machine unfortunately so that was a bummer. For a quick stay it is great and it was sooo reasonable! We would stay again! read more

Quaint, throwback Motor Lodge to the era of Route 66. We are traveling the Mother Road and this was a perfect nostalgic stop. It has been repainted outside and refurbished inside. Clean and newer fixtures in the bathroom and throughout. Absolutely worth the money. Check in was a little wonky as the clerk had to phone someone else to find our reservation but other than that, no complaints. Of course the rooms are small compared to the modern era, if you want current accommodation, go with a chain. But if you are even the slightest bit adventurous, nostalgic or patriotic, give them a chance. read more

We stayed in room 123 on 6/21/2021. The counter clerk was pleasant and check-in was fast. The room was decent, and the bed was FABULOUS - the most comfortable hotel bed I've ever slept on. I deducted a star for the gross, sticky carpet and another star for the A/C unit being mounted above the sink that required climbing up a chair to turn on. Very nostalgic. Affordable. Friendly staff. I found this motel just off the beaten path on an I-40 roadtrip and decided to give it a shot. You are welcomed by paintings, road signs and other artwork, all celebrating the heritage of Route 66. Even though I booked through a third party app, checking in was very fast. The people at the desk were very friendly and helpful, making me feel warmly invited, even though I arrived around midnight. The room was newly renovated and very nice. The bed was comfortable, there was a flat-screen TV, fridge and microwave, and on top of it all, the room was spotlessly clean. It was a great deal for the price of an overnight stay. Parking is arranged so that every room has a super close spot. There is also room for and help from staff with parking trailers, making this a great place to crash if you are driving across the country on vacation or moving. I was very pleased with my stay and rate Route 66 Inn 5-stars for the price, comfort, service and overall unique feel off the place. Thumbs up! read more

I've traveled through Shamrock, TX. many times going back and forth across the Country and when I have my Family with me, we always have to drive past the Conoco Station that the animators of "Cars" the movie used for their inspiration for Ramon's Paint Shop when they were driving Route 66 for visuals and ideas for the film. We recently traveled through Shamrock again and stayed the night at the Route 66 Inn in Shamrock, so I thought at I'd write a short review about it while I was there. First, if you're looking for five star accommodations in Shamrock, drive right on through, but if you're looking to find a few little Route 66-type motels that used to dot the land across America years ago, this is the place and the Route 66 Inn is everything it says, a Route 66 Inn. We arrived at close to midnight and woke up the owners to check in and they were very gracious and helpful, despite that we had just awoken them. We received a spacious room with everything that we needed and the room itself was clean and tidy. During the night, my young Son became sick after eating burger that didn't agree with him somewhere in Oklahoma and was up throughout the night throwing up and so checking out at 11:00 am the next day was not an option, so we asked the owners if we could have a late check out and they again were gracious and accommodating, letting us stay as long as we needed to allow our Son to feel better and ready to travel again. Where other hotels might find that annoying, the owners at the Route 66 Inn were very understanding and friendly and they were pet friendly as well. One of the reasons I'm writing the review is that when we were there, I noticed that we were the only guests staying at the motel on a Friday night and I would like them to get more travelers to stay and experience the quaint and nostalgic motel that is right on Route 66. There is even a small Route 66 museum in town and being a child of parents who used to travel Route 66 often through its heyday, I have an appreciation for little nostalgic places like this and would like to see them prosper more from travelers who like this sort of thing. I recommend that if you're traveling through Shamrock, stop in to see the Conoco Station and if you're tired and are looking for a quiet, quaint motel, stay the night at the Route 66 Inn. read more

Dirty sheets, dirty chairs, dirty dresser drawers, no cold water, ice machine broke, soda machine doesn't take dollars, looks like someone broke the door down previously. Route 66 Inn in Shamrock Texas is a genuine midcentury motor lodge on old U.S. Route 66, and does its best to benefit from its historic location. The motel's exterior and office are covered with numerous small murals, invoking the romance of the Mother Road in its heyday. The rooms are not especially midcentury in their decor, but are clean and comfortable, with good amenities for a small, independent motel. The staff appears to consist of a couple and their teenage (possibly college-age) son, who are very nice and attentive. Oh, and there is no ice machine, but they can get you some ice if you ask at the office. Below is what I wrote on Facebook when we stayed there a week ago: We hoped to get a little farther tonight, but we settled for Shamrock, Texas. Last time we were here, way back in 1986, we had to stop in the road while the car in front of us let a car out of a parking lot in the middle of a block. Which was nice, I guess. We ate a a local joint that sold steak fingers, and stayed at a Best Western that was across the street from another Best Western. In the morning as we left, the other Best Western was being bulldozed to rubble. This time, we looked up motels on Yelp. Route 66 Inn got mostly rave reviews, so here we are. The room is clean and comfortable as promised, although the a/c unit is a little hard to reach and the TV and the door key are a little hard to figure out. The kid in the office is very helpful and efficient. But the main draw is that it's a real mid century motor lodge, with lots of themed murals outside and in the office. If you're not looking for anything super hip or plush, this place will do just fine. We're happy to support this local business. Remember the scene in Cars in which the Radiator Springs residents line up to welcome visitors coming in from I-40 but nobody shows up? Shamrock, Texas is one of the places where this happened- and the real life model for Luigi's is a block away from this motel. We need to support these historic businesses on old Route 66, or they WILL be gone. We saw ample evidence of this today in Tucumcari. End quote. For period detail and nostalgia value, the Tucumcari motel is better than the Shamrock one, but for comfort, service and value, and just because it's good to support small family businesses, both of these Route 66-themed motels are well worth your patronage. read more

This was our second stay at the Route 66 Inn. It is managed by a very nice family. Check in went smoothly and we stayed in the same room with a king bed, nice and clean with a firm, but comfortable bed. And I love the refrigerator with a nice sized freezer to re-freeze our cooler pacs. My only complaint is the fly issue. There were quite a few in our room. I realize it comes with the time of year (in the heat of summer)unlike our previous visit during a cooler time. I'm not sure the solution, but this would not prevent us from staying again. read more

I love this inn. Very quiet, spacious and clean room (just as advertised), and feels very safe. The manager is a very nice, helpful guy who seems to really care about making his customers happy. Honestly, I've never been to a motel that I liked this much, and even most higher end hotels are not as nice as the rooms here. Sadly, we were one of only 3 other people staying here, which is a shame because it's truly a hidden gem. If I ever find myself here again, this is definitely where I'm staying. read more

CLEAN AND COMFY OVERNIGHT MOTEL! Wish I could give 4 1/2 stars! NICE place to spend a night passing through. NOT FOR LIGHT SLEEPERS, though, as the road noise, occasional dogs barking across the street, and birds chirping bright and early might be bothersome. Otherwise, nice updates...CLEAN, fresh bedding, CLEAN and updated bathrooms! Spacious rooms! Appreciated the adjoining rooms - 1 KING bed, side chair, desk & chair, mini fridge, one-cup coffee pot - and 2nd adjoining room for kids had 2 QUEEN beds, kitchenette with small sink, oven/stove combo - 4-burner yet smaller size - microwave, mini fridge, and one-cup coffee pot, another nice and CLEAN bathroom. Only things that were MINOR issues for me...carpet didn't look the freshest, but I'm always skeeved out by hotel/motel carpets, and the drapes didn't seem new. It's still under construction, so will likely only get better!!! PLEASE BE AWARE that while under construction that there might be construction debris around ** Don't let little ones run around barefoot outside! ** I found a rusted cutting blade (razor blade-type blade) on the ground on sidewalk between room and car. (I picked it up and threw it away. And then washed my hands, OF COURSE!!!) OVERALL...NICE, REASONABLY priced motel!! Worth a stop! read more

Clean, comfortable and inexpensive, a modern cleanup of a classic 50's-style motor hotel. We rolled off of Route 66/I-40, without reservations, at midnight, paid our $48 to a polite teenager doing his Algebra 2 homework, drove up to the door of our room and crashed. Left at 9AM rested and showered, dropped the key in the box. Half a block from a couple of the cooler restored Route 66 landmarks, one being the Art Deco Conoco station/U-drop Inn, an inspiration for the Pixar movie Cars. Tiny little places like these independent little family-run motels are rapidly disappearing from the American landscape. They are as American as apple pie and Route 66 despite the fact that I guarantee the owners weren't born in America. Which makes it even more uniquely American. Go stay at one while you still can. I've stayed in $800/night rooms and I've stayed in rooms where I seriously feared for my life and health, and I think the reviewers giving it low stars need to grab a clue. This doesn't get 5 stars for a rotating rooftop restaurant and nattily dressed doormen. It is exactly what it is. read more

One of the nicer hotels we stayed at on our cross country trip, we found this place thanks to other great reviews. Looks scary from the outside. A couple of things for management. Our toilet paper was almost out when we arrived and there wasn't another back up which sucked when we ran out after midnight. Also, they weren't accommodating with a later checkout, which of course isn't mandatory but is something we really appreciate when we are doing a ton of driving. A lot of places will give you an extra hour now that standard check out time is 11am and not noon. Most people do check out earlier than that but have mercy for your night owls. We paid like $40 on a weeknight, and you cannot beat that price. So, satisfied overall. read more

Also pet friendly with only a five dollar additional fee for having our dog stay with us, which is a big bonus! Would stay here again. Part of my bucket list, is to stay in old route 66 motels on my travels. I was actually shocked when I opened my room door. I was definitely expecting old, maybe run down and possibly not the best accommodations, I said I was shocked, but in the best way possible. My room was super clean, very modern and updated and was an absolute pleasure to stay in. I even stayed an extra day as it was so nice. The owners and or work staff are very nice, and have made this a little gem on Route 66. We so appreciated the desk clerk's effort to select us a room for our needs when he had no handicap rooms. Ours had a walk-in shower with 2 shower heads, separate controls, 2 strong, sturdy handlebars, perfect for us. It was like having a sauna for our travel weary old bones. read more

I doubt there is a better value for your money anywhere in the US. It's not a 5 star hotel. It is however for an old motel: clean, comfortable, safe, and affordable if all you want is a decent clean place to stay a night or two on your journeys. It comes with a fridge, microwave, good a/c, free fast wifi, a decent tv and a staff that obviously cares a lot. I booked this through a 3rd party and thought "ut oh" when I pulled in the parking lot. A quick inspection of the room happily proved me wrong. The gentleman on the phone was still just as kind when we arrived and immediately went out to show my son where to park our moving truck while his son did my registration old school: on a paper slip I filled out. We were moving from California to Florida in a 34 foot long rented truck pulling a 20 foot auto transport and decided to stay at the Route 66 Motel because of the rave reviews we read. Maneesh helped us to park the truck gave us the best room in the hotel and even drove us to the local restaurant because we could not go there in the truck. A great clean room and great service. There were only four cars in the parking lot all night so we really should spread the word about this great place. read more

We stayed last night and arriving it was convenient and thought it was a clean spacious room and felt lucky to have found such a room in the middle of nownere passing through from California. We decided to take a shower and to our surprise there was no hot water to use, then we called front desk who then told us to run the sink water to make the shower heat up. That didn't work and also they had nobody there to fix it. So then they gave us a key to walk 5 doors down to a room that had no heater and mind you with our two year old child in 25 degree weather. Then walked back to ours with wet hair freezing. Then tried to plug in dryer and plugs were not working which happened to be the only mirror in whole room. Not to mention while we called before to get price for room we were told$ 41 dollars. We checked in and the lady owner called us a liar and that the price was $60 a night. They finally agreed and ended up letting us pay the $41 we were quoted. After all that we let the lady know we wanted a refund of at least half and she declined and again called us liars that the plugs did work and she came into our room to check and found they were not! but still said we lied about the shower. I can not think of worse customer service than what we received from that lady. Her son is also working under the age of 18 which is not legal unless he has a permit which i do not believe he does. He answered the phone and told us we would get the full refund and when we went to get it his mother told is he is just a child and has no right to tell us this. So unprofessional and a disgrace to our integrity by stating we were just lying. No we did not lie and it was room 124. So if u get that room just know there will be problems!! I would never recommend this to my worst enemy. There was also a small bug looked to be a start of a cockroach but let it go. She is a slum lord in my opinion and would never stay there again!!!! read more
